Please explain in detail what makes the iPhone specs mid-tier. Please explain in detail why Apple made a poor choice with 1 GB of RAM.....you can't, because they didn't.

On the iPad Air, I can occasionally see the need for more RAM, because Safari on the iPad is more conducive to multi-tabbed browsing....which seems to need more RAM to prevent tabs reloading (BTW....WAAAAAAA).

No other aspect of the OS or Apps has ever lead me to believe RAM was lacking (coming from someone with 16 GB of RAM in his Macs and PCs)....especially not on iPhone.

The whole argument is a tech nerds fantasy.

Sorry but 1 GB of RAM in 2014 classifies as mid tier in terms of specs. No way around that. Phones released last year have larger batteries and more memory than this phone.

And where in that screenshot it shows proof that it an iphone 6+?

Also, I'm pretty sure that with a 5.5 screen one should see more info of an app that what it is shown in that screenshot. To me, that looks like an 4.0 screen because of the real state that it's shown of the app.

I was the latter but I'm over it now. But still comes back to the fact that you're paying a premium price for something that's pretty average in terms of specs.

Also I've never used anything iOS related so it could be optimized where 1 GB is more than enough, if that's the case they need to lower the price to the same as other smartphones that still use 1GB. Just my thoughts

1GB was enough before Apple moved to "64bit". The 64bit OS has a larger footprint, so the same 1GB has less effective available memory. The iPad 4 did not have a big problem with browser tab reloading as the Air does.

All the "experts" right now...

There is some real concern regarding the RAM limitation. In versions of iOS prior to 7.1, iPhones tended to crash easily due to running out of memory when doing heavy multitasking.

I'm sure Apple engineering is great, but limited RAM invariably means a compromise somewhere, especially with multiple apps / safari tabs open. It is difficult to understand why Apple would insist on holding back in the total amount of RAM available, especially since both the A7 and A8 processors are both 64-bit...

Having to deal with crashes and tabs reloading due to limited RAM incontrovertibly contributes negatively to user experience. I just hope that Apple has done some under-the-hood work to minimize this if they're going with 1GB.

It is entirely possible that Apple can allocate memory from the flash storage as additional ram when needed. This may be possible with IOS 8. It could allow energy conservation when not using much ram and additional ram when needed.

why did they even bother with 64bit then? utterly useless and yes simply for marketing purposes.

Right now everyone's like: it don't need more RAM cuz apple's code is so efficient making the whole experience great.

Then why will the 6S sport a REVOLUTIONARY 2GB in a year or two???

:mad::mad::mad:

Android, HERE I COME!!!

They held back so next year they can announce double the RAM.

I like how people are crying foul that it only has 1 GB RAM and calling this "RIDICULOUS", "I WON'T BUY IT NOW!" and "OMGWTFBBQ". What's ridiculous is that people are so caught up on specs instead of how the phone works. I'm PRETTY sure that Apple knows how to make a phone. Apple has shown in the past that it's not all about "specs".

I hope iOS manages the 1GB better than Android did on ATT's Samsung Note 1 with 1GB.

If the internet browser reached 10 tabs and you browsed for a bit, Android would kill the app launcher (Home Screen), because, not like you don't need that running all the time. Once it did, and you hit the home button to leave the browser, you'd find all the apps and widgets gone, only your background remained, and they had to be loaded back to the home screen one icon at a time.

Terrible terrible phone the Note 1. I just hope Apple's first large 5.5 phone doesn't suffer the same fate.

They fixed the browser tab reloading frequently part in iOS 8.

Let the spec nuts go wild while completely missing the point . . .

With 1GB of RAM, multitasking in iOS is lousy and slow. And Safari tabs need constantly reloading. Its bad and one of the reasons I no longer buy iOS devices.

Game over. See you with the 6s. Have fun with Safari reloads and apps being killed on background.
1GB is NOT enough, and iPhone 5s / iPad Air clearly proved it.

I have the LG G3 with 3GB of ram, and apps are still killed all the time.
