Lol strokes 5S knowing i made the right decision not going for either the 6 or 6 Plus this year.:D

I feel come end of this week once benchmarks and reviews are out a few people that bought the 6 Plus thinking it was going to be better, are going to be really disappointed.

Looks like Apple saving all the goodies for the 6S and 6S plus, like open NFC and 2GB of ram & maybe a quad core A9.

if an OS is poorly designed it will eat up 2GB of RAM just as fast and easy

1GB is NOT enough, and iPhone 5s / iPad Air clearly proved it.

I have iPhone 5S and iPad Mini Retina and memory has never been an issue.

I love how the same people saying "1GB is not enough" for the iPhone 5s are the same ones saying "nobody needs more than 4GB on a macbook air" ... it's so funny how people take different positions on the issues.

I do not understand this, I have a had a iPhone 5, now have a iphone 5s. I have the retina mini.

Never experienced any kind of issues with any app or game or safari. HOW many tabs do you have open?

I am guessing that the "performance issues" reported affect like 1 in a million that needs to have those 1024 tabs open at once?

I did not even know how much ram my iphone 5s had until I read this piece, I assume the retina mini also has 1GB?

So Apple's not having 32Gb as the base version, and kicking the 16Gb version out, but shows you get double space for 100$ and people even agree to this. Whaat?! :roll eyes:

Now, it's limiting the hardware to 1Gb of ram, not to mention the other benchmark tests showing up online with barely improvement over the 5s.

Well at least they have their priorities set straight to making money.
And thinking ahead to make their S line up!

I heard someone make a point on a podcast recently that really rang true. They said they had recently used a Samsung phone with a quad core processor and 2 GB of RAM and the UI was still jerky when scrolling through lists of e-mails or SMS messages. Samsung can throw as much horsepower as they want under the hood; but it seemingly can't make up for some pesky UI problems with the Android OS.

I haven't had any memory issues on my 5s that I'm aware of -- but perhaps I'm just blissfully ignorant. However, at the end of the day, my phone performs for me exactly the way Apple said it would when they announced it. That's all I really care about, honestly. I suspect that the vast majority of 6 and 6 Plus buyers will have an experience similar to mine.

Raise your hand if the RAM size is what you were waiting for to decide whether to get an iPhone 6/6+ vs an Android phone...

...anyone?

*raises hand* ... oh wait, all I saw was "size" ... I just put my hand back down. LOL.

Surely this will be "RAMGATE" ... because people are shunning apple forever for not putting more RAM into them. Heck, apple is going to have to give these things away, nobody is going to want them. This might just be what puts Apple out of business forever, because clearly people are saying "I'm standing in line at the Samsung store Friday instead" ... LOL rolling eyes.

Battery life will be a tad better as the 6 Plus will have to work harder.

326 ppi vs. 400 ppi+ will not be notable at normal viewing distance.

OIS? Huh. OK. One feature.

So, you're admitting the 6 Plus is better? Because it is. Other than it having a few BETTER features, they're exactly the same.. so the conclusion is, the one with more features is better. Nothing to argue.

Why does this matter? Apple doesn't even advertise this spec for the phone. All it serves is spec junkies who like to smile at spec sheets regardless of real world benefit or performance. iOS on the latest model iPhone is as good as it gets on mobile for stability, fit, and finish. Don't need to be able to tell my friends my phone has 2GB of RAM.

Apple rarely competes on specs. They compete on design, polish, and "feel" for the user. It's the reason why no Android manufacturer can match the awe around iPhone launches. All they can do is pump out product after product throughout the year at times when Apple is quiet and hope something sticks. They have no true brand loyalty or brand presence. Bigger iPhone is the nail in the coffin for Android handset popularity. 1GB of RAM or not.

I think when Apple adds 2GB of ram is when Android manufactures will be worried. I'd personally be pissed if the new iPad's does not have an increase in ram. That will be a travesty when Apple is now touting it as a productivity tool.

The people who are defending Apple to the teeth also buy the newest iPhone each year anyway.

Says the person who has an iPhone 5S...... :roll eyes:

Upgraded my 5 to the 6. I don't LIVE off of specs. If the phone works and works well, then it works well. I don't look at one part and go "OMG I'm a hardware expert and Apple is messing everything up!".

I always get irritated with these comments about RAM. "But it's an iPhone and it's super optimized" you say. Oh really? Have you ever actually used Safari?? Have you ever been in the middle of a form and switched tabs and went back and the page reloads?

Seriously—yesterday on my Retina iPad Mini I switched tabs. It reloaded. I switched back, it reloaded. I switched back again, it reloaded. That's ridiculous! Clearly not optimized. Many of us will be using this phone through the end of 2016. If it can't keep pages loaded now imagine the state of apps and the web in 2016 and what effect that will have.

I'm not a spec whore. I don't care how many cores my iPhone has, or whatever other spec Android manufacturers push. I just want it to work properly and it is not working properly. Anand of Anandtech (who is now working at Apple) even said the 64-bit A7 uses more RAM than the previous A6 because that's what happens when you move to 64-bit. And I've noticed. My iPhone 5 with the A6 chip has fewer issues keeping pages and app loaded than the more powerful A7 in the iPad.

And don't tell me to go get an Android if I want more ram. That's a ridiculous thing to say because it doesn't address the issue. I'm an Apple user through and through. I just want my browser to work properly. There are probably only three things that have ever really annoyed me about Apple products and that is at the top of the list. If you haven't experienced this issue, especially on the A7, then I seriously doubt you use your device very often because it can be infuriating. Apple does everything so well and then pulls this crap. I just don't get it.

They have no true brand loyalty or brand presence.

But this is the exact reason why everyone hates the stereotypical Apple fanboy. Android users buy the best device available for their needs. Apple users buy Apple because it's Apple.

I agree that Apple has a higher quality device and ecosystem. But let's not fool ourselves, they intentionally leave out features or hardware because it's cost effective and they want something for "next year". Then they pawn it off as magical, revolutionary and groundbreaking when they do finally release it. Apple fans love the kool-aid.

If 1GB RAM is a deal breaker for you, please do not hesitate and CANCEL YOUR PRE-ORDER!

Give the rest of us who don't care a chance to get an iphone 6 plus this Friday!

Game over. See you with the 6s. Have fun with Safari reloads and apps being killed on background.
1GB is NOT enough, and iPhone 5s / iPad Air clearly proved it.

There's an issue with my 5s? I haven't had any problems with it.

1 GB of RAM - Just tragic. It's all planned for obsolescence and profit.

Is Apple really proud of this? To never ever be able to give us a real good device. It's always crippled in some way due to planned obsolescence, product differentiation or profit margins to please shareholders.

And all these people who say we don't need more RAM. Stupidity has no limits, but that we already know.

I was the latter but I'm over it now. But still comes back to the fact that you're paying a premium price for something that's pretty average in terms of specs.

Also I've never used anything iOS related so it could be optimized where 1 GB is more than enough, if that's the case they need to lower the price to the same as other smartphones that still use 1GB. Just my thoughts

But it is well above average in performance so why do you care? Seriously. If it has 1Kb of ram and a single core 1hz processor it is irrelevant.
