Iphone 6 plus RAM limitation is annoying

I guess you were wrong about RAM!!
Seems like 2 GB of Ram have helped the issue big time, now you can keep more than twice as many pages load in memory!

My iPhone 6 Plus experience is really pissing me off. My worst iOS experience since the iPhone 3G. I get crashes constantly, specially with websites like The Verge. If you go to The Verge and turn it landscape, Safari will give you an error and reload the site. You cannot scroll down at all without it crashing. Whos decision was to give iPhone 6 Plus only 1GB of Ram should burn in hell.

That sounds more like a web design problem than a hardware problem if it's specific to The Verge. But I just tested what you suggested and had no problems, turned to landscape properly and didn't crash. Took a second or two for the page to resize (because, again, of The Verge's apparent fit to screen coding) but it worked fine.

The added ram will help, but I still stand by my my assessment. That is in my specific case, I'm not really incurring anything negative with the 1GB of ram. If Apple gave us 2GB of ram, that would have been good, but I'm not really noticing the lack of it in my usage.
Do you close your apps after using? On an average how many apps do you have in your multitasking tray? (Recently used) just asking
I've had the same problem with other websites that either have a lot of pictures or a lot of data, I was just giving The Verge as an example. I've already made an appointment with at the Genius Bar for Saturday. This issue plus my battery only lasting about 8 hours or less with normal usage is really making me not enjoy my new iPhone. Might be a dud so I'll get it replaced on Saturday if they have my iPhone for exchange. My first time getting annoyed by my iPhone and I've owned every single iPhone model since 3G. Hopefully a replacemt fixes it.

I sometimes get that error even on an iPad, but only since upgrading to iOS 8. I'm pretty convinced that almost all of the problems people encounter are software based.

My contention is that there's a coding issue with WebKit. A memory hole.

It almost certainly does have a memory leak, but its not just WebKit. On a fresh boot, an iPhone uses around 700MB RAM, and loading just about anything uses up the rest.
Also it's not just the webpage you're browsing that WebKit has to keep in memory. It also keeps your browser history (including images) in cache, and the browser itself has resources that need to be held in memory. It all adds up. There isn't a modern browser on any OS that doesn't use at least a couple hundred megs of RAM.
Both sides could potentially be right in this case. There may be a memory leak issue in the browser (I believe there is because if there's no software problem it shouldn't actually crash from OOM, just force a reload or cache to drive and get slow). If that's true then, while it's not exactly what we'd call an efficient solution, throwing more RAM at a memory leak does potentially alleviate the symptoms (until it builds up and crashes anyway, but it will likely take longer to reach that point). Of course it also depends on the nature of the issue; Some memory problems could involve bad access attempts that crash regardless of what's free.
Anyway it's possible for it to be a software issue and for the user experience to be improved by more RAM as a sort of brute force solution. In a more general context I think you can argue that more RAM potentially improves user experience simply by allowing more things to stay cached in memory instead of being loaded from the "disk," though that impact is probably not too significant.
Just to throw some random data into the debate: I've been playing with a Note 4 the last few days and it also likes to reload browser tabs even though it has like 1.4 GB of free RAM. That's anecdotal at best and I haven't really tested the conditions that cause this to occur.

The iPad Air 2 does not show the exact same behaviour, but rather a remarkable improvement over the iPad air.
A software issue has no bearing on the issue if apple is unwilling or incapable of fixing it within the products lifespan. The iPad Air has now been replaced with the Air 2 which shows a remarkable improvement or the Air. The proper Fix should have been 2GB of Ram with the introduction of the 64Bit cpu which required more ram than the predecessor.
The only "hole " is the hole in people pockets who will need to upgrade for this reason.
i was one of the people who argued against saying its not a big deal...but after a few weeks of using this with my work outs at home it is sort of annoying. So I try to use the iheart radio app and strong lifts app. During the workout if i decide i'm going to change the radio station, when i switch to iheart radio app and back to strong lifts, my strong lifts reloads and my progress restarts. In the beginning it was that big of a deal but now its starting to be annoying
Wow some people are still saying this is software. This blind fanboyism is absolutely pathetic. It's clearly hardware, even if they could somehow optimize safari a little better it won't make a big difference because you only have one ******* gigabyte of ram. The ipad with 2gb of ram is, as expected, FAR FAR better in terms of keeping tabs saved to ram and apps saved to ram, and anyone should have seen that, and now everyone can. The fact that people are still defending apple and saying "I-I-I-it's software" is sad.
You sound like the people that don't have a problem with 1 gb. Because the problem no longer effects you it's not a problem and no one has the problem right?
2 gb helps but does not fix the problem.
Let me guess, iOS is perfectly optimized for 2 gb of RAM?

I don't get how saying that it's a software issue is somehow defending Apple. Whether it's because of a lack of RAM or a software bug, they're both Apple's fault, no?
