When and what phone manual states you can carry a phone in a tight enclosed non breathable pocket?
Not all of us wear skinny hipster jeans, even in jeans the pockets aren't 100% non-breathable and generally when a phone is in our pocket it's idle and isn't producing much heat.

It baffles me how people are defending why it's okay if a phone bends when put in a front pocket. This has to be the #1 most used spot to carry around a phone with you, and it's extremely rare to hear about people bending phones in their front pocket.

But isn't it up tp Apple to make sure they use product mfg materials that stand up to normal everyday use. If you think it is reasonable that aluminum could bend under normal use shouldn't apple have realized it too?

It would be in their best interest, yes. And they have a pretty good track record. But I certainly wouldn't trust them blindly 100%, and that's why I'm not an early adopter. I like to wait for the user reviews, because the pre-sale website reviews all say the same things and they are basically just marketing.

But I still find it strange that someone would take a bent phone to the Genius Bar for a replacement. They'll give you a brand new phone that is just as likely to be bent in your pocket if you do the same things to it - unless this turns out to be a manufacturing defect in a particular batch, or something like that. It's possible.

Why would you bother to take your phone out of your pocket to drive? If it is ringing most hands free systems have a way to answer the phone without having to remove it from your pocket, and if you are following the law you have to be using one of those anyway.

Maybe because I don't want to sit with anything digging into my leg? Whenever I sit down for a prolonged amount of time I take at least my phone out of my pocket.

Hands free systems may have a way to answer the phone but not to see who it is unless your stereo supports it. Who the hell blindly answers their phone?

What other cell phone has had an issue with being put in a pocket? If this was an android phone you all would be making fun of how easily it bends, but because it is a potential issue with an apple product you all are trying to excuse it.

Absolutely not at all am I trying to excuse it..

We are not talking about the 6 that is (for discussion) the same size of a samsung s3 that I know someone that went thru school with in his front pocket.

This is about a 6 plus, a huge phone (I had a note 2 and now a HTC one max) and my max is slightly bigger than a 6 plus BUT I would NEVER put either of them in a tight pocket EVER common sense!!!

Seems like an Apple-bashing thread to discourage sales of iPhone 6+

I tend to treat my phones pretty carefully so I usually carry in my hand, lay in on my desk at work, table at home, etc. But I know that's just me. It's of course reasonable to want to carry your phones in you pocket. I think iPhone 6+ is probably too big for pants pockets though. Doesn't it stick out even at the top when you're standing?

Maybe getting one of those Otter cases that looks like something army personnel would take to Iraq would be a good idea so that this the phone stays looking good. I think even if it were thicker, putting it in a pocket could damage it cosmetically if it isn't protected. If I put it in my pocket and then threw in some change or keys absent-mindedly I'd have a scratched phone.

I love my new iPhone 6+. And a year after getting the iPhone 5s, it still looks and functions perfectly but, again, i treat it like any other piece of electronics I have except the ruggedized radio I have out in the garage that is meant to be abused.

It baffles me to that people like you want to put a PHABLET (Huge phone on the brink of being a tablet) in a tight pocket!!! No wonder why apple did not want to come out with one sooner.

Wrong. OP didn't buy a phone. He bought a phablet. Use it incorrectly = your loss.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Bzzzt. Thanks for playing though! It's called an iPhone. Full stop.

Seriously?
Use some common sense people. It's a large, thin piece of aluminum. It will bend when enough force is applied. That's not a "defect", that is simple science. Apple doesn't have some magical way of making things indestructible. These things are too big to go in your pocket while sitting down.

Again with you newbie. I'll take logic lessons from you...never. It's a phone. People put them in pockets. Get over it.

I'm saying people should be able to objectively evaluate a product's weaknesses, leaving behind any fanboy bias, and then perhaps choose not to buy it because of those weaknesses. Instead, people will buy it anyway and expect a free replacement when they break it.

Newbie, everyone here would be saying the same thing if it were an android phone. It shouldn't bend in a front pocket. Full stop.

Nice reading comprehension fail. It wasn't a tight pocket.
------

I guarantee that Apple will replace this and any other iPhone that bends.

If this is truly representative of the 6+ then apple is screwed.

But as far as this being similar to the 5, you guys are crazy. I always have that thing in my pocket and it has never bent. It even got run over by 2 cars with a steelie magnet on its back and it didnt bend.

THIS! I test this in a front pocket sitting down and I could swear it was bending. You felt the pressure points on the ends. Clearly if I got the plus I'd never be able to sit at a table with it. This is bringing back the holster.

Who the heck sits down with a phone in their front pocket? You're just asking for trouble.

Obvious troll is obvious.

The only thing obvious is you inability to comprehend facts. It's called an iPhone Plus. There is only one iPhone and that's the iPhone 6. Never had a bent phone in 7 years of iPhone use.

The Plus is a phablet according to every reviewer, analyst, etc. Hence, it needs to be treated differently. But enjoy your bent brick.

It wouldn't work properly due to the protruding camera anyway.

Damn, I forgot about that. I don't use the iPhone as level anyway.

It's a slight concern for me..but I'll just be careful as always, I should get my 6+ Wed, Thursday. I usually do keep the phone in my pocket...not tight jeans, I have lots of room and the 6+ felt fine in it. Waiting for a case this week as well..

Ain't just a river in Egypt. His leg's rounded and his skin is warm. That's all it takes if the phone is laying against his warm bump of a leg, unfortunately. Hahaha. That's what some of us are trying to get across here. It takes very little to bend it. For it to stay flat it has to always be flat.

********, the warmth of someones leg is not enough to cause it to bend, that's one of the most idiotic things I've read on this forum. We heat and clean Aluminum at 550*F at my workplace and it doesn't bend, Aluminums melting point is 1200*F the heat has nothing to do with it even if it's that fragile.

I can empathize as if I'd ended up with a + I would have certainly put it in my pocket at times, but I can honestly see both viewpoints. The 6+ is not really in the category of a phone in the traditional sense anymore and that means it requires different handling. This board has been filled with threads about that very issue - how people are going to carry it - since it was announced. So while it may technically fit in your pocket, I'd say you do so at your own risk.

I don't handle my crappy plastic samsung note any differently than any phone I have ever owned. No problems in front or back pocket. Sitting on it, etc.

First, not everyone wears tight jeans. Second, "phablets" have been out for years, and this didn't happen with the Note, Note 2, Note 3, LG G3, HTC One Max, LG Flex, etc., and third, there's no need to use excessive caps lock and more than one exclamation mark.

Who the heck sits down with a phone in their front pocket? You're just asking for trouble.
People who are sitting down and don't have a need to use their phone? I assume you want examples, so these are times when I personally leave my phone in my pocket when sitting down:

Sitting down on a subway or bus
Getting in the car for a quick drive
Sitting down at a bar where having it on the table would get it covered in liquid
Riding a bike
At work when I go from sitting to walking quite frequently

I posted 2 links to 2 samsung phones that broke in a pocket!!

This is funny. People go on and praise the iPhone for its aluminum build. But every launch we see it scratches, bends, scuffs etc. These things don't happen to the "cheap" plastic Samsung's I've owned. And then you people are recommending to put the phones in a plastic or leather case. A thousand dollar phone, bending like a soda can.

Maybe there comes a point when a device is too thin.
