Do you people really think you can put these in your pants pocket and not bend
it? C'mon a little common sense, Please!

I'm sure Apple will get the blame and be asked to replace it......amazing.....*face palm*

A leather wallet bending....ok....an aluminum phone....not ok.

Why? Because someone has an issue?

If that's the case, you should give up your drivers license because I've seen people get into car accidents.

Great comparison, except we have no control over the build quality of a phone but much control over how we choose to drive....

Good point. I agree with you on that. But I think you can agree that we have a choice of what to purchase. If you doubt your purchase now, get a refund and move on. I don't doubt mine, but I'm willing to accept the rise that goes with owning it.

Modern smartphones aren't meant to be used as benches or surfboards.

But they are meant to be able to be carried in a front pocket. That's the most logical and clearly most used method of carrying a phone. Apple should have taken this fact into consideration during the design process.

The plus is a phablet. You shouldn't be carrying this thing around it your pant pocket. It belongs in your purse.

Perhaps Apple needs to sell "iPants" with appropriate pockets to safely fit all the various iDevices?

People should have taken this fact into consideration during the paying for it process.

Time to be a grown up and take personal responsibility for buying impulsively instead of practically.

Agreed. We're all well within our return policy so decide now!

Wow.

I can't believe some of the reactions in this thread. Putting a phone in a front pants pocket is something that millions of people do every day, and is absolutely normal behavior no matter how one defines normal. Logically, and within reason, behaviors one does with a phone in said pocket are also therefore "normal."

Based on the OP's description Apple should definitely replace this phone. No ifs ands or buts.

And, if these two incidents become a growing trend, Apple has a problem on its hands. If so, prediction: Apple releases a bumper or case made of a material with much higher rigidity and gives them to every 6+ owner, just like they gave out bumpers for a prior phone.

I got my 6 plus on Friday and I didn't put in in any pockets yet cause I haven't left the house. My 6 plus has a slight bend to it and I KNOW I didn't cause it. Check yours right outta of the box. Lay it on something flat face down and you can see the slight bend. Not sure if I want to trade for a regular 6 or not. Loving the screen size and long battery life

This might push me a little towards the 6. I have always carried my iPhones in a front pocket, and no bends yet.

The 6 won't make a difference - will still bend. my son's iPod touch (thats a couple of years old now I think, and also thin though probably not as thin) bent from being in a fanny pack during an airplane ride. And it's smaller than the 6.

I totally agree that people on here really react strangely to these devices bending (they're being ridiculously offensive to those who made the 'mistake' of carrying them in pockets). It's kinda fascinating actually - how people react and feel so protective of Apple. Don't get me wrong - I hate to admit that I love Apple and their damned marketing geniuses. I've been whining about this on this forum before this thread started, worried about whether this would happen and inquiring about rigid cases to help prevent this (and reading comments about how I don't need a case and why would I want to take away from the sleek beauty of the phone)...but even now - having predicted this - I'm bummed and not feeling as excited about the 6 Plus that should be arriving soon. I guess I was hoping they used some miracle material for the 6 phones, haha.

Wrong. OP didn't buy a phone. He bought a phablet. Use it incorrectly = your loss.

Either a bad batch of phones if this issue is happening to a few or a one off. I can't believe no one would have noticed this during pilot testing. This is different than antennagate. I'm sure apple's early field failure group would be highly interested in this thread. Maybe this is the production issue that's kept yields low??

Apple's engineering should ensure that a *mobile* phone has sufficient casing strength to resist bending under normal usage conditions. Putting them into front and side pockets is normal for most folk.

Again, the plus is not a phone, it is a phablet. Presumably this is why people are buying it. You would try to sit on your iPad. It may take some getting used to, but caveat emptor.

It's called an iphone last time I checked. Plus at that. Not an iphablet or iPad. So please explain how it's not a phone again?

It's called an iPhone PLUS for a reason. If a plus-sized person tries to fit into a pair of skinny jeans would it be alright for them to get a refund from Levi? I think not. Every reviewer has put the plus into the phablet category.

Sorry that this is news to you.

I'm not surprised at all. Even the 6 can be twisted with relative ease (hold it at all four corners, and give it a try) ... It's a beautiful design, just not rigid enough.

This really isn't good. I'm still waiting for my 6 plus to arrive, but I'm seriously considering sending it back and getting a 6.

There's absolutely no way this should happen. Prior to the launch there was no way of knowing how "pocketable" the iPhone 6 plus would be. I'm sure lots of you, including myself downloaded the 6 plus templates from the to see how large it would feel in your pocket. At no time did anyone think the phone would actually bend.

In the race to make the thinnest phone, Apple have gone and made something that's not rigid enough and can only be described as not fit for purpose. This story is only going to get bigger as it happens to more and more 6 plus owners.

Apple will absolutely have to address this.

I'd sacrifice thinness to fix this.

Knock it off. I have a friend who puts his Note 2 in his pants pockets all the time and it's fine. It's normal behaviour. If this turns into a trend then it's bad design on Apple's part because most men carry their phones in precisely this way.

The amount of people in here blaming the OP for carrying his phone normally is ridiculous.

I've never had an issue with a plastic phone casing either. I'm sure if this was made of carbon fibre or some kind of plastic it could "flex"

Apple should really get over their aluminium fetish
