Who rides in a car with their phone in their pant pocket?

I do sometimes but that's cause I have a 4s which is super small in comparison. I can feel it against me but because it's so thick I don't worry about it bending.

----------

Trying to remember if I saw one of the presenters from Apple walking up on stage and pulling one of the new ones out of his pockets. ;)

If you put your phone in your back pocket, and sit down, you are sitting on it.

If you actually read the thread you would see that the OP had it in his front pocket. In the back pocket it might be more understandable, but it wasn't. Assuming this isn't just a very rare defect Apple really should have either made these phones thicker or out of a more rigid material.

I remember when the 5 came out I saw a few posts about it bending so before we get to excited lets see if this does indeed become a very common issue. I have carried phones in my pocket for the last 15 years. I refuse to carry a man purse or a fanny pack to carry my phone around. The 6 plus fits perfectly in all my pockets but I refuse to deal with it bending .I don't know many men that will carry there phone outside his pocket so we should have some good feedback in the next few days if this is truly an issue and makes headline news etc.

As far as carrying a phone in the back pocket thats just a bad idea IMHO.

Aluminum isn't a strong material. This has gotten to the point it's so thin that it's easy to bend. I bet you could do the same thing with your hands alone, if you tried. Probably on both phones.

If this becomes a widespread problem, Apple should look into as stronger metal for these phones.

That's unfortunate...but we all knew the 6+ isn't pocketable and not useable one handed.

Why not ??? I tried the 6+ in the Apple Store, and it fits perfectly in my pockets with room to spare... Actually, even my Nexus 7 fits in my pockets. Not everyone wears slim jeans...
Besides, what's the point of a phone if you can't fit it in your pocket ? How are you supposed to feel it vibrate if you have to put it in a backpack ?

Find it hard to believe that Apple is going to replace this...unless Applecare+ covers it.

I find it hard to believe how Apple could not replace it. You can find numerous illustrations on Apple own website that proves this device is supposed to be flat. If the device that the user received and that he used as a normal phone is not flat, it means that it does not conform to what Apple was supposed to deliver.

What ever happened to Liquid Metal. That stuff is super strong. I have some of the LM sim removal tools Apple shipped in the 3G and is is supper hard to bend.

I expect a phone that costs more then USD750 should be able to withstand some normal day-to-day use! That also means carrying it in your front-pocket of your pants while sitting, without it bending over time!

If the 6+ is so big that the structure is not strong enough to withstand some small bending forces then Apple should take this serious and also advice their customers to not use it in certain ways!

Jeez, this is Apple, we pay a lots of $$$ for quality and what do we get?

Lets see if we see more reports of bending iphone 6+ over the next weeks/months.

If this would happen to a Samsung device, everybody would rant about it and make fun, but since this is Apple everybody is trying to defend it!

And anyway you have 14 days to return the phone for whatever reason, so Apple will take the phone back, no questions asked. I don't understand all the people defending apple all the time, it's old and boring already. To you guys apple never does anything wrong, it's always the users fault blah, blah, blah. It's tiresome and adds nothing to the discussion except for stupidity.

It's a phone, it's not unreasonable to expect that it won't bend if you have it in your pocket like everyone else does with every other phone.
this!

I'm not sure I get how people in here are defending Apple. I would go back and exchange it. A phone is not supposed to bend lol.

Then Apple should have said "iPhone plus users we do not recommend carrying the phone in your pockets like you have every other phone throughout the years as it may bend. Instead please consider a man purse or fanny pack to carry your device in."
Sure it "fits" but that doesn't mean it won't bend if you sit down.

I'm certainly not defending Apple. I want a phone that I can keep in my pocket all the time without worrying about it, and one look at the 6 tells me it's the wrong choice for me. I just don't understand how someone else could look at that thin piece of aluminum and think it wouldn't bend eventually in a pocket while sitting. It must be the Apple product "blinders" some people have.

Im not sure how to do a poll on here but if someone wants to start one that might not be a bad idea. Something like "If you carry your plus in your front pocket can you check to see if it has bent yet by taking it out of the case and lying it face down. Im really curios as to how wide spread this issue is or if it will just be isolated to a few people like with the 5.

I am saying that a larger device should not be expected to fit into the same spaces as smaller ones. That is not a reasonable expectation. While I understand that plus owners may be accustomed to doing so, there will be more bent phones as a result of this until folks change their behavior. But I do not think Apple should pay for these issues as these costs ultimately get passed onto all consumers.

Again, this will happen to the 6 users too that don't use rigid cases - not just the 6+ users. Mark my words...

Take a pillow put it on top of the phone. Make sure phone is on hard surface. Sit on pillow. It should gently put it back into shape. Don't try and use hands to bend it back as it could make things worse.

I'm not even going to read all 7 pages of this, but has the world really become so entitled now that we whine in horror that something BENDS when we exert enough force on it to make it bend? Of course it's going to bend. Wow.
This is like complaining to Cadillac that the front fender on your CTS just bent when you hit an old lady with it.

Clearly you didn't read the thread as the bending happened with normal use. If you're wanting to compare it to a car it would be like complaining that your front fender bent after driving to the grocery store and back.

Not even the same.

You are telling me that a PREMIUM, $650+ cell phone should be expected to bend when placed in a pocket? Ridiculous.

I switch phones usually every 3-4 months, been carrying a phone in my front or back pocket for years. Never had a phone bend. This includes BB, Nokia Lumias, iphones, and android phones.
