Please....

That could have been the truth a decade ago. Nowadays even 7 year old kids have a camera-phone. Everyone around you (family, work etc) have a phone camera. It takes only few second to take a photo and e-mail it to yourself. Not having a camera can no longer be an excuse.

Yes. Their "camera phone" is the said bent-phone in question... So how could he take a picture of the bends on his own device with the only "camera phone" he's likely to have? I know I got rid of my digital cameras years ago. I have an iPad I *could* take pictures with, but not everyone has those.

I know it seems weird but there's also a chance he lives alone without access to another family member's phone, etc. I'm not going to debunk everyone who claims they have a bent phone just because of the lack of a picture.

Had a little chat with an apple Chat specialist earlier. He wasnt too thrilled about the bending stuff

Me: of course theres the bending concerns with the 6+
i wouldnt try to obviously bend it

As long as you don't try to bend or sit on it, I wouldn't be too concerned.

but more and more people complaining on the forums of incidental use slight bends while in front pockets

A case is always a good idea though.

in that *case* like the bumper fiasco with iphone 4, they should include a case

its just an added cost, for protection its great, but as a necessity it sucks

Since the bending is actually caused by accidental damage and not a defect, as the bumper was verified to be in the iPhone 4, that is not the case here.

so basically if it gets a slight bend in it because you kept it in your front pocket its deemed accidental and nothing can be done

making an object larger whilst decreasing its thickness doesnt make it stronger, infact the opposite

While Apple has not announced any issues with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus’ aluminum construction, keep in mind that as electronic devices continue to get smaller and thinner, you’ll want to handle them with the appropriate amount of care.

"you're holding it wrong"

so the iphone 6+ cannot be placed into my pocket

For me to best assist you, please keep our conversation respectful.

did i say something to disrespect you?

im concerned about a $400+ device that may deform during normal use. the concern is warranted. at least i believe so

If you are concerned that you may apply enough excessive force to your iPhone that it would bend, I would recommend purchasing a case or AppleCare+, just as I would recommend those to a customer who is concerned with dropping their phone.

Im concerned about using a normal amount of force during normal day to day activities involving placing the phone in my front pocket and doing normal things such as standing and sitting.

i understand you cannot speculate on the matter

I was interested in hearing your thoughts.

As I stated earlier, Apple has not announced any issues on the iPhone aluminum construction. That means the "bending" is not a defect of the device, but due to excessive force

so regardless of customer actions, slightly bent iphones will be considered accidental damage

Yes, bending of the iPhone is considered accidental damage.

So during normal use, if the phone gets tweaked, I am the one to blame

If your version of normal use includes enough excessive force to bend the phone, then absolutely!

Normal use: put inside front pocket of pants, stand, walk, sit down, stand up again, remove from said pocket

With proper care the iPhone will not bend.

Thank you, I will put it in a case and treat it delicately like a newborn child

Great!

Do you just spend your free time chatting with apple representatives? Honestly, what did you think he was going to do for you? Give you a free case?

PROTIP! I do all of these things with an iPhone 6+, and guess what?

No bends! There is a very small group of complaining about bends. To be honest at this point, I'm pretty sure they are sitting on them or actually trying to bend it themselves. If this was a real issue, you would see thousands of claims in major cities every day.

But you don't.

Suggested Reading! Consumer Reports

Suggested "Next Steps"! Read up on the matter, understand it's fully overblown, then return to the forums to post.

That consumer reports is useless as it doesn't target the area of the phone where they are bending, (and it doesn't factor in heat into the equation).

Direct that drill right under the volume rocker after charging the phone for an hour so it's nice and hot, and I'd bet it bends with less than half the pressure they're exerting on it.

You didn't read my comment, did you?

That consumer reports is useless as it doesn't target the area of the phone where they are bending, (and it doesn't factor in heat into the equation).

Why should it target a specific area? Is it something in your pockets that is going to target a specific area of the phone to bend it?

I've subjected my 6 plus to hard use over the past 12 days. Among other things, riding a sport bike with the phone stuffed inside my leathers getting considerable pressure in a tuck. Hundreds of miles. No bend. In my front pocket, snug fit, for 10 days in the office. Lots of sitting, standing, getting in and out of cars. No bend.

I haven't sat on it. Nor have I leaned against, say, the edge of a desk with this in my pocket. Or tried to wrestle it out of my front pocket while sitting in the Recaro seat in my sports car....No bend.

And, for those who say heat is a factor, you would be getting a third degree burn from the heat required to weaken 6061-T6 aluminum.

I'm sure you both mean Note 4

Even better. Would love an article on that. But either way it doesn't prove anything here. If Samsung realized their phone had a fault in it than delaying it to fix the issues shows good on their part.

Just curious, why would you love the article if it proves nothing for you?

I read somewhere in SMG arena I think few days back about it, but like yourself I take these things with a pinch of salt.

iPhone 6 Plus slightly bent after 2 days

Fyi samsungs release of the note 3 has been delayed due to.... Bending
At the same point the 6+ does lol

Don't think they have delayed the release date since it will be sold starting this week in US and UK. They would not have time to change construction. Reports do say it is capable of being bent. Also read that their "big" launch in South Korea, which is one of there biggest markets, only consisted of selling a few hundred thousand phones compared to millions for the iPhone.

My Space Grey 6 Plus from sprint is beginning to warp near the SIM card tray. When I set it on a flat surface it does not sit perfectly flat. I will post a picture tomorrow when I have access to my GF's 5s. GOD IM ANGRY ..I dont even wear jeans! I just wear cargo shorts and gym shorts. I dont put my phone in my rear pocket as I am 6 foot 2 and 245 pounds. I run and workout with my phone on a regular basis. Im considering trading it for a note 4 on Craigslist. Or getting another one from my genius bar? Thoughts? EDIT: not only that I JUST spent 150$ on launch just for accessories for this thing.

Yes, and not everyone has friends, or co-workers, or neighbors who might have a phone and/or camera that could persuade to take a photo. But this is a rather far-fetched argument, isn't it?

I don't get it. Are you implying they are lying because they aren't knocking on their neighbor's door asking to use their phone's camera?

I'm implying that they're not trying very hard to document this. And I can't imagine how a phone would get bent in a pair of 'baggy cargo shorts'.

People are still doubting the validity of these phones bending when there's been numerous reports and accounts of a structural weak point at the volume buttons? It won't bend like a chocolate bar in the sun, but it's clearly possible to bend under circumstances that would apply under regular use cases for phones.

Yeah, it's dumb to put a phone in your back pocket and sit on it (people who do this are crazy), but I could see how a phone could bend in the front pockets and, well, it's happened to numerous people.

iPhone 6 Plus slightly bent after 2 days

From the iFixit photos, the iPhone 6 display has retention mechanisms similar to the 5/5S.

What if the clips are spaced slightly too close on some iPhone 6, resulting in a pull force on the metal unibody from the top and bottom of the phone? Could that possibly be a cause of bending?

You obviously aren't using the phone in a "normal manner". ;)

Maybe when you ride your bike, you are straightening out the phone that was bent when were sitting in the office, so it all averaged out.

No.
How much force do you think that would apply? LOL.

Think I'll skip this and wait for the 6s. They usually fix any design defects in the s models anyway so will go for a 5s instead now.

Still no update from OP hanzoh - - in fact, he hasn't posted at all since strating this thread.

have you got proof of this?
have you actually seen one being bent in the pocket?
are there any videos out there showing this being done?

or your claiming something because you heard it being said....

No, not one iphone bent in somebody's pocket, it's just random people intentionally bending their 700$+ phones out of curiosity or total boredom:rolleyes:

FRONT pocket....

I suspect 99% of bent phones in pockets comes from phones being sat on while in back pocket.

Funnily enough nobody has provided us a video on YouTube on how to bend an iPhone while the phone is in the pocket....front or back for that matter...

where did you people get the idea, that people carry their phones in their back pocket? I dont know anybody that does, nor havent seen anybody. Its funny how this became number one reason for bending your iphone on Macrumors.
