where did you people get the idea, that people carry their phones in their back pocket? I dont know anybody that does, nor havent seen anybody. Its funny how this became number one reason for bending your iphone on Macrumors.

well the idea being for example myself (and many many others) carry my 6 Plus in my front pocket, i'm now on my 6th week of ownership and still to bend my phone in my pocket...

I must be doing something wrong then!

I often see people put their phone in their back pocket while walking, I would think they take it out before sitting but I guess some forget

It's the typical fanboy response throwing responsibility for defects and poor R&D by Apple back on the the user. Happens all the time here.

I dont think is practical to expect a video showing a phone bending as a result of being in a pocket. I doubt everyone would be making it up. I also doubt these are all due to being in the back pocket and sat on. It's obviously happening under certain conditions and tbh when it's in your pocket you are probably not aware of everything as you go about your day to day.

I think apple would have commented by now as I'm sure they are keen to ensure Christmas sales do not take a dip. So they are probably busy trying to RCA the issue.

They know about the defect, they are very attune to the whisperings of the internet about it's product. They calculate whether it's best to address an issue or not. They may choose not too on this one.

The lie about 9 phones being bent was laughable.

The bends are happening in the same spot, which is very easy to understand. Thin, non-tempered 6061 aluminum with small material cross section at the volume, SIM tray and mute locations, large surface area all combine to make the most easily bent smartphone to date.

Thanks. I've not really followed the issue too close. Is the bending limited to the 6+ only or 6? I think Apple need to comment tbh as these kinds of things are quick to spread so it only takes a few pics and videos to change people's opinion. I think I must be one of the few that prefers the small size of the 5 range so will most probably go for the 5s next.

Another reason Apple may not be replying is the issue is so widespread it would be too costly to recall and replace them all. Revenue aside it's definitely brand damaging.

Both phones, but I believe the 6+ is more susceptible due to it's larger surface area.

Nope. Asking what may have happened is not accusing, nor is it calling anyone a liar. You and others' inability to understand this isn't on me. It's on you.

I know you are fishing for a response, but I'll bite. You are a liar just by the fact that you say you aren't accusing anyone. You are absolutely insinuating (and often blatantly stating) in every single post you make that the blame is on the owner of the phone that it became bent, not a flaw in the durability of the phone itself. You have posted several times "what did you do to cause the phone to bend?" (or something like it). You can't possibly say with any credibility that is not an accusation.

This debate is all about the ownership of blame for why more phones are bending than ever before. Some feel it is the owners mistreating their phones and they are to blame (hence your accusations). Others feel the blame lies with Apple for not building a phone durable enough to withstand what we consider normal usage.

I'm sick of it too. I'm not willing to blame Apple yet, but blaming the users isn't justified either. I don't think I'll post in any more of these bend threads until we know more, because the arguing is just pointless now.

I wasn't fishing for a response and you're doing exactly what I pointed out: attributing accusation and blame casting to me when no such thing is happening. That's on YOU, not me.

This thread is legendary.
This wedding got featured on multiple international news media and gave Surf Monkey Macrumors fame.

What are you even talking about? Macrumors fame? Not that I'm aware of.

You all need to get a grip.

You know what's interesting. You always have an opposite answer to anything anyone says. If I say it's hot, you say it's cold and so on and so forth.

I really hope your iPhone 6 gets bent. I really do. Maybe then you'll start taking things seriously.

There's not a chance in he!! he'd come back if his phone was bent. I agree though, it really couldn't happen to a more deserving fellow. While the human response to others misfortune is compassion there are those who feel a need to kick someone when they're down. I mean, who else is going to come to the blind defense of the most valuable company on the planet? Won't someone think of the faceless corporation? So what if a few hundred/thousand/whatever little people are out a grand? We have to think how the bad PR hurts his favorite brand...

Sure. I have a contrary answer for everything anyone says. You go with that theory.

The sad thing is how hyper sensitive people like you are to simple questions. To the point of actually openly wishing that my phone gets damaged.

Incredible.

I have had my 6+ since day one. I always carry it in my right front pocket of my khaki pant/ shorts, jeans, and sweat pants and no bending has occurred.

Supposedly the reddit thread referenced in the article debunked the theory. Don't have the link off hand, sorry.

Anyone ever have there keys stab you in your pocket? It's rare but I imagine it's happened to many of you when they work their way into a weird position, then you sit down or something. Anyway it causes a surprising amount of discomfort.

Now try to push your keys in your pocket with the same amount of force to cause the same amount of discomfort. It takes a lot of force.

I bet you wouldn't try to apply anywhere near that much force to an iPhone even evenly distributed across the phone.

So why is it so hard to think an iPhone could possibly have the same forces applied to it in the same place?
