I had a chance to play with both 6 and 6+ this weekend at my local Apple store. I was blown away by how fast and smooth both the phones are...

I have a 5s running 8.0.2 and that is also running smooth as silk, but the speed of 6 & 6+ blew me away...

Only thing I was unsure of was if I liked the size of 6+. I prefer the size of 5s or 6... maybe 6+ size will grow on me over time, who knows...

But I cannot wait for my 5s contract to be over and I will definitely be getting either a 6 or 6+...

Thanks for sharing.

Those numbers seem to equal all iphone 6/plus sales up until now combined.
No wonder Apple has been so focused on China. And still it seems amazing to me that people in China are able to afford the iPhone's in these large numbers. The average income is significantly lower in China as compared to the U.S.

This would seem to say that there are a lot more people in China WILLING TO WORK to be ABLE to afford things, instead of too many others around here just lying around here WHINING about how they can't afford Apple products.

Wow, congrats Apple.

I really like my iPhone 6. Best all round phone I've ever used. Sales like this are well deserved.

I feel the same way about my 6+.

That's a lot of phones.... Being promised to another country when we still have un-filled day of pre-orders in the US

Apple is a global company. Each country gets a specific allocation in the roll out of a new product and pre-orders take a back seat to people who are willing to go to an Apple store and wait in line (and yes there are still lines daily when the new iPhone stock shows up). Imagine if you lived in a country where Apple did not even launch their new iPhone for 6 months after it released (like it used to be for many countries) -- you would just be really angry.

Just relax and breathe. Your new iPhone will come and everything is going to be okay. While you are waiting you can buy some AAPL stock and if this keeps up it will pay for your iPhone when you sell it in 2015 after Apple announced the biggest holiday quarter ever.

Those are incredible numbers. I wonder what the total sales figure will be. At this rate Apple will have hit 1billion iPhone sales by mid-next year.

Imagine if they manage to sell one billion of a model in a year, and 15% of all humans will have the current iPhone, that is selling 32 per second for an entire year. Crazy thing is they're about 15% of the way there.

Apple has to be loving this. Man, they must be sitting at the cash register just going cha-ching! The 6 deserves it though. I have it and it is quite the phone so far. Think it is the best Apple has produced in my opinion.

I predict the "Apple is doomed" people will still come out of the woodwork and somehow spin this as bad for Apple.
That said - 20 million? That's insane.

Let me give it a try: ”with a country of 1 billion pple, 20 million is not a lot. Apple is doom.”

How about that spin? :)

I eas in the same boat as you. Cant decide if i wanted a 6 or 6+. Then i got a 6, it’s good and everything but I kept tinking about the plus. I walked in to the store one day and got one. Now im totally happy with it. The screen is brilliant, the battery life is fantastic, the camera is so so good. In term of speed, both phone are equally fast.

Does anyone know the European market numbers? US numbers up to this week? I haven't seen them anywhere. It is most likely well north of 40m units when counting global sales to date, probably closer to 50.

I think Apple said they wanted to have 70m by the end of the quarter. They are well on their way.
and the ASP is above $700

I love my + never going back

Many of them have to wait till next year to get their iPhone 6/6+; logistically there is no way Apple could fulfill such a huge current global demand in the next couple of months, which by my estimates, could easily exceed 100 million (sounds big but only 1.5% of world population).

20 million pre-orders....wow. That is absolutely incredible and no Android fanboy could ever deny this

Same, the Plus and 6 are absolutely incredible

Big Numbers, Small Percent

Those aren't large numbers, percentage wise. Considering China has about 4⅓ times the population the U.S. does, the 20 million presales represents only 1 out of 70 people in China (vs 1 out of 16 in the U.S.). The disparity of any country's income would allow for such a small upper class.

As of 2012, China's "upper middle-class households, with incomes of $16,000 to $34,000, represent only 14 percent", of households.*

Even excluding upper-class & middle-class households, only 1 in 10 upper middle-class would need to buy an iPhone to reach this number.

*That 14% upper middle-class is going to grow to 54% in 8 years.

I´m surprised that MacRumors does not mention how this system works. Not even a single comment about it.. These are not "sold" or "pre-orders", they are simply reservations. Just a name and a number is all that is needed. I know several people who have 6-9 reservation each one for each size/color just to be sure to get something quickly. Expected more from MacRumors and commenters on this one. I´m still getting the 6P though!
