Back to basics. Think about it, it's a thinner original iPhone design made more refined, I like it.

I disagreed with Steve Jobs on his opposition to an iPad Mini, but I've always agreed with his thoughts on the iPhone's ideal size.

There is a huge market for a larger phone, but the current iPhone size is great. The bezel takes up too much, but other than that the phone would become uncomfortable to handle with one hand.

Eliminating the current size is a bit concerning for those of us (and I see I'm not alone) who are more interested in thinner and lighter than bigger and heavier.

I think I'll just buy an 5s if the 4.7 inch is going to be the smallest one!... Then I'll stick with that untill this ridiculous pop race for a "flatscreen in your pocket" is over and everybody thinks the only thing right is to go as small as possible! Then you guys will pass me and my old 5s on your race for the bottom! History has proven it, what goes up must come down... mindless screensize too! ;-)

Slide right out of the hand that thing... The mini is a slippery little sucker...

Hmm seems realistic in a not so exciting way..

Indeed! Have really not enjoyed the brick style of 4 through 5s, yummy rounded edges would be a nice drawcard to bring one back from WP8. As would size, but they'd also need to work on / revert the OS.

I know it's probably been said a million times but I think the backs of all the post Steve Jobs updates look very cheap. Even though the glass on the back was more likely to break in the 4/4S they looked classy. The backs of the iPad mini now iPad Air and the potential 6 look cheap. The 5 scratched easy. It's a real killer for me. That being said I will still continue to buy apple products anyway...

It's not going to happen, not in a billion years. I can and will put money on that. If you study Apple design and have a design focused mind, you'll just get that feeling... "NO WAY"... it's just hideous, and very much out of balance.

Of course I can't deny opposing views their right to say "YES", but I can almost with complete certainty, state that this just isn't Apple. I don't care which "expert" rendered these, or where the rumoured blueprint emerged from, but I think it's entirely out of balance - it's a "feeling" I get, an instinct - I'm not being stubborn, it's just totally bleh.

You do realise than *anyone* with half a modicum of design knowhow and a copy of a CAD package could knock this up, right? So what...

I wasn't commenting to the rendering images but the fact that I think we can count on the fact that the next iPhone is most likely going to have elements from Air/Mini/Touch. That is what I commented on. This render is just one version of that representation. And as I mentioned, 5C already showed us direction Apple wants to take so you can count on 6 having those elements implemented. We will see but I think it will come. :)

So in the definition of render, there's a line that says "must be confirmed/made by Apple"?

A render is a render. There's no "fake" render. Now is this based on anything confirmed? No. The schematics are rumored to be factual, but they may not be.

But they are also "real schematics" - just perhaps not of what will turn out to be the iPhone 6.

Be careful how you word things. You think you mean one thing, when you're saying another.

What are you expecting design wise?

Simply curious

You REALLY are getting very very very confused with yourself, or you are persistent in attempting to make me state that in some I don't know what way, renders are fake, when they are.
They are fake as in they are not made by Apple, in what other way do you think I meant fake?, that is the context of my comment, please understand this and stop the confusion...

That phones design look awful familiar: Image

Niiiccceeeee.... bar my Nexus 5, I think HTC are the best Android designs.

Some of us aren't:

- women with giant $1000 suitcase purses
- farmers with that big front overalls pocket
- hip hoppers with pants 10 sizes too big
- kangaroos

Apple please make a phone I can fit in my normal sized 'white guy with no rhythm' pockets!

You can large phones in normal sized pockets, stop this nonsense.

I've even seen people put nexus 7's in their pocket (i agree that is ridiculous).

The iOS representation wasn't thought out properly for these renders; the icons are way too spread out (this isn't an iPad) - what are they gonna do - retain this spread out icon spacing and reduce the icon size on the older models? Never heard of "touch target size" in the HIG?

If the person who renders was that clever, they'd have realised this - they didn't. Apple wouldn't change the format of the icons SO soon after iOS 7 was released, and they're not going to make GIGANTIC ICONS for a larger phone, are they?

I think not, somehow.

Man.

I hope this is false.

When will Apple get rid of that huge, disgusting bezel on the top and bottom? It's a waste of space and looks like something from 8 years ago. Oh wait, it is from 8 years ago

Here is a mockup for an iPhone 5 that I still like....

Thats dreadful. I seriously doubt Apple will change home button from circle to square or even worse -rectangular. Especially now that touchID is there. :)
I kinda like the screen element on that render but the rest is very bad. Looks like a cheap samsung crap :)

Some helpful ideas for "concept" artists:

Take. Less. Drugs.

Read. Apple. HIG. (daily, for 6 months).

Watch "Objectified", 10 times, thoroughly.

Cycle until silliness is purged.

:rolleyes:it's not serious. Why should they care about icons. Its a render to give people an idea of the size of the phone. No one said it was confirmed. This is MacRUMORS not apple.com.

Lol I'm not confused at all. You won't acknowledge what you said, but that's fine. I'm done with this pointless conversation.

Looks bland,boring and cheap.
Especially the ugly dark black back that with barely visible Apple logo.
Next time use a better designer ;) this one lacks beauty and does not impress.

I like the look.

ONLY thing that took me to android was because going from 5 to 5S they kept the same design. (currently I carry Nexus 5)

If they released a 4.7 model I would be all in again!!:D:D:D

I really don't see how moving the lock button to the left side is very practical, seeing as most people are right handed... Hopefully that won't actually happen.
