Motorola figured out how to fit a 4.7" screen into a chassis only slightly larger than the 5/5s. Apple can surely figure it out, but I don't think they want to.

Exactly. Both iPhone 5 and 5s (don't get me started on the nasty 5c) look like old phones compared to most other new designs. And the main reason is so much of the iPhone's size is not dedicated to the screen, there's all this plastic looking junk around the screen.

i think the renderings look great BUT i care more about whether the Verizon/Sprint version will do simultaneous voice and data....i would literally buy a new iphone 5s for full price if that was all they added......it is DIRELY needed

Just No

Do you really think the new larger screens would only display the same amount of app icons as the 4" iPhone? That would be a terrible waste.

looks like they finally found a way to sell more 5Cs. i for one don't want a bigger phone - i'm still happy with the size of my iphone 4. if i want to read something, or surf the web, i can always get my ipad out of my bag.

sure, why not give phablet people, and facebook-addicted teenagers wielding those ugly & huge galaxy s3 to s5 some alternative - but don't take away my smartphone in a small form-factor.

Mock up

Could anyone point me to a mock up of the upcoming 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch iPhone models?

Or could MacRumors commission a printable mock up?

I saw one for a 5 inch iPhone some time ago (Early 2013), but I would love to see one for the current sizes to print out.

Since the 4.7 in is supposed to come out earlier, I want to print one out to decide if I want to wait for the 5.7 in or get the 4.7 in.

Hmm looks remarkably similar to another phone which I can buy right now:

OS looks old in the tooth

Nothing more than a larger sized app launcher.

That is the main problem with IOS. Bigger screen is wonderful but the OS is a bit staid.

It needs a major rethink, cant see this killing off competition like it has in the past. If apple does not want third party apps running in the background for security reasons (which is fine) they should create a few of their own that can be more configurable on the home screen

No, I don't want a 6c I want a 6.

How is that render a "6C".....

The rounded edges of the C actually make it far more comfortable to hold. If it had the same internals and TouchID, I probably would've opted for it over the 5S (even without the metal).

As it stands, the iPad Air and rMini designs are fantastic - I wouldn't mind seeing an iPhone designed similarly.

No chance on the camera position; that's so horrendously out of balance, not a chance Mr Ive would overlook such a HUGELY ugly design flaw; look how balanced the camera is on iOS devices - someone's pulling someone's proverbial leg here:

Uhh - kinda? But not really - they are the same color (almost) and they are both rounded at the corners.

Other than that, there's no curve in the iPhone back like the HTC, not front facing speakers, TouchID is absent on the HTC and the bezels are completely different.

The renders look like shrunken down iPad Airs and rMinis. Not the HTC One IMO.

hahaha, oh yeah forgot about that! Personally I think it's a boring design, like I said, the iPhone 4 save for it's stupid antenna, was the best I think.

I'm curious what made the 4/4S "not boring".....not that I didn't like it, but its funny that the word "boring" is brought up.

You prefer the 4/4S design - which is completely fine. But to say one is more "boring" than the other doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I personally think the iPad Air/rMini form factor is the best Apple design thus far. Ready to get away from the "sharp" edges. The 5C is SO much more comfortable to hold than my 5S.

Sorry, but it does look like an M8, Apple would sue HTC if they launched an iPhone like that and then the M8 was launched and people on here would go on the hating rampage stating HTC had ripped off Apple's design.

I do remember Apple attempted to claim the Galaxy tabs looked like an iPad, including from the back with giant SAMSUNG writing on them!
