I hate silly season. Unfortunately it will be this way probably until WWDC. Sigh.

I'm interested to see how they tweak the OS to handle unintentional touches on the edge of the screen.

Can someone mock up a graphic with rectangular outlines of the three sizes superimposed over one another so it's clearer how much larger they are relative to one another?

With a bezel-less front, won't holding the phone on the sides possibly/unnecessarily activate some part of the screen?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the original iPhone have a display without any side bezels? It certainly looked like it. They only started adding the slim bezel to the side after the original iPod Touch, and to me it seemed to be mostly an aesthetic decision, not that having no side bezel was some kind of engineering breakthrough.

Now it would seem to make sense to eliminate the side bezel if they are increasing the display size, to keep the width of the phone at a minimum. But its not like Apple was incapable of doing it before, it seems to have been merely an aesthetic decision.

A display that is edge to edge on the sides would definitely get me to upgrade from my iPhone 5. The 5S while a decent phone did not have enough features to make me wanna swap out my iPhone 5 for one.

Cool but

they are going to have to implement some rock solid errant touch detection because as of yet there are times when you might hold an iPhone or iPad and have a slight amount of a finger on the screen screws up touch. There is no reason why a clever company can't come up with a way to know the difference between someone holding their phone, or intending to touch on purpose along the edge of the display.

However I fully expect this is another form > function feature of Apple where the device looks cool, but Apple has to teach consumers how to properly hold a device with no bezel to make up for their OS shortcomings. if the no bezel rumor is at all correct.

We will get parts leaked soon enough which has become a yearly custom before all iPhone releases.

It was more fun when we had no clue what the original iPhone would look like and got mockups like this:

lol i remember thinking this was a real thing and got so excited. thought it was the best idea ever

same way theyve been doing it on the iPad ;)

Don't really mind if they keep the same creen, the only thing that would make me switch from the 5S would be a much larger battery with maybe NFC.

Couldnt the edges just be a display and not a touch screen unless in certain apps?

I'd guess it would be similar to the existing edge-touch rejection tweak at work on the iPad Mini and iPad Air.

I think the new iPhone is guaranteed to have a larger screen in as small a physical housing as possible and it'll probably be great! :)
