Like emjaycee said... I don't know how this will work with cases. Except for super slim cases, most cases come over the edges of the phone a bit. I could also see a lot of accidental contact/interaction with the screen, just by the nature of holding a phone and your skin touching the edges.

Plus in addition to this, no bezel at all just looks kinda ugly IMO. I'm all for thinner bezels, but please don't do away with them completely.

Still wondering what will be done with screen resolution when the almost certain larger iPhone is launched. I just can't see pixels per inch decreasing. I say either stretched apps with the same PPI or a significantly bigger phone with a higher PPI display.

However, the 5.5" phone looks ridiculous. I'd be surprised if Apple releases something that big. The 4.7" one is at least plausible.

they are going to have to implement some rock solid errant touch detection because as of yet there are times when you might hold an iPhone or iPad and have a slight amount of a finger on the screen screws up touch. There is no reason why a clever company can't come up with a way to know the difference between someone holding their phone, or intending to touch on purpose along the edge of the display.

However I fully expect this is another form > function feature of Apple where the device looks cool, but Apple has to teach consumers how to properly hold a device with no bezel to make up for their OS shortcomings. if the no bezel rumor is at all correct.

Could just use the edges strictly for viewing....

Why? I can even see the aluminum bezel when I have the original Apple case on my iPhone 5S. No problem using a bezel free design in this case.

Cool..for those that want a case.

Edit...I misread your comment: I was actually meaning to reply to the guy you where quoting.

They DID release the 5c you know...;)

The iPad already has the feature you want.

Samsung Defenders on an Apple Site?

I just don’t get fanatical Samsung fans who come here simply to bash Apple? It’s like Dunkin’ Doughnuts driving through a Krispy Kreme drive through window and tossing their stale dunking doughnuts through the drive through window while exclaiming they are better but the mere fact they go so far to profess they are superiority and the victims of Apples copyright infringements, whilst at a KK drive through, is almost like that crazy chicken nugget lady viral video where is no logic for her melt down.

What an awesome job, where you can be wrong for 95% of the time and if you're right once you are famous.

Design Innovation!?

I would be sooo disappointed if Apple comes out with a "similar prototype" on the new iPhone 6! What happened to the curved glass tapered edge and new look/design!? If the new iphone looks like it has for the past few years I'll definitely consider the new Samsung or MotoX...

Apple did not develop Touch ID to replace it with screen-wide fingerprint scanning just a few years later. The home button is here to stay and so are the bezels. Without any bezels the screen would take space from the camera depth, reducing picture quality. After two years its time for a new hardware design, but I suspect everything to stay where it is. iPhone 4 and 5 made huge design changes without altering where everything is located. So how would an iPhone 5 look like if its main case material would be sapphire glas?

If you can't fit a fifth column of icons on screen that is only marginally wider than the current iPhones, I'm not interested. I still say the width on current iPhones is near perfect.

If this is true then we can assume that the iPhone 6 is the first device to escape the grip of Steve's design parameters!

It looks awful btw...

I don't want bezel free. How am I going to put a case on? I like the raised rim protector cases to keep my screen from being flat on a table as my phone lives face down on my desk all day.

what does it matter if it lays face down on the glass? do you have a desk made of diamonds or something?

Like the minimal bezel. The 5.5" is too big IMO.

To my eye the mockups most closely resemble the HTC One. I like the minimal bezel and would buy the iPhone 6 if it matched the 4.7" mockup but the 5.5" is way too big in my opinion.

I do hope Apple offer a larger phone for those that want it but it is more important to me that it fit comfortably in my pockets and that I can use it one handed. The 4.7" shown would probably accomplish that but the bigger one wouldn't.

yeah, I hope they keep the same size or make an iphone mini, I don't want a bigger phone, if I did I'd just go for an ipad mini.

I have a incase ClearCase on my iPhone 5s and it will still work if the iPhone 5s or bezel-free

I like the idea of the bezel-less display. I hope they keep the 4 inch screen though (as an option) in order to make the phone even smaller without sacrificing screen size. The screen is big enough for my purposes.

I would say finally. Keeps overall size down, but allows bigger screen. I use the Apple case which I think is by far my favorite case ever purchased.
