My 6 runs great. I would not however buy one today. iOS 12 is surely going to cripple the thing.
Nope, even my iPhone 6S is super slow unlike on iOS 9. Though the performance is slightly better on iOS 12 even after a battery replacement, it still drains and only let u use for 2 hours straight eventually giving it to my sister. I cant imagine it on a 6 thoughMy 6 runs great. I would not however buy one today. iOS 12 is surely going to cripple the thing.
Of course, I may well upgrade in the coming weeks anyway, but it would be a nicety and not a necessity.
Same for me, except that I haven’t replaced the 6 yet. I had a new battery installed last winter and then nuked and paved the 6, and it works just fine using multiple apps. Hard for me to justify a new phone, but it is getting beat up from daily carry with a couple of screen dings. Had it 4 years and definitely got my money out of it. Great phone, but unfortunately I think the 6 is approaching end of life. I don’t think I could recommend buying one unless it was dirt cheap and not planning on keeping it more than a couple of years.I wouldn’t buy one today and expect to get much longevity from it, but to tell the truth, my 6 which I just replaced a few months ago was still working just fine on the latest OS version. I’m sure it would have served me well for at least another year, but I had the itch for something new.
iOS 12 runs fine on my 6 too, after the new battery and nuke and pave.My 6 runs fine in iOS 12. I certainly wouldn't buy one today given its 1 GB RAM limitation, but it's good enough today that I can't convince myself an upgrade would be enough better to warrant several hundred dollars. Of course, I may well upgrade in the coming weeks anyway, but it would be a nicety and not a necessity.
I buy new iPhones a couple of years after initial release. My 6 is only about a year and a half old. In a Spigen thin case and doing fine cosmetically. And battery is at 100% with 159 charge cycles. Hasn’t been dropped often. So far...Curious, how where you able to keep it from being damaged for almost 5 years? Did you put it in an OtterBox defender?
Hi !
my wife is looking for a new phone and new cell plan. We've seen a Iphone 6 32gb at Walwart, with a 50$ (35$ + 15$ tab) plan with koodo (Canada) . That come with a 220$ walmart giftcard. I know prices in Canada are awfull !
She's not a big user, some text, web browsing, Spotify, Waze, some pics and such. Does it still a good deal for that old phone ? Budget is not very large and since she already have an Ipad air 2, as well stay with Apple.
Thanks !
My wife's iPhone 6 works okay with iOS 11, but she is a very light iPhone user. She uses her iPad a lot more. I think her only usage is phone call, calendar, iMessage, takes a few photos/videos every now and then, and some Web browsing and maps/directions. I think her biggest frustration is when the camera doesn't respond right away and she misses an opportunity to capture a photo of our kids. We are going to replace her battery to see if it helps, but it's not nearly as slow as my iPhone 6 was.
I also had an iPhone 6 but upgraded to the X in December. I use my iPhone a lot more than she uses hers. My battery had degraded to the point where it was definitely being throttled as her iPhone 6 is faster and more responsive than mine was before I replaced it. A battery replacement would have resolved that issue, but I wanted a new iPhone anyway.
I would try to get the 6s if you possibly can. Yes, the iPhone 6 will suffice for light use if one does not expect it to be super fast, but the 6s has a much better chance of providing a decent experience with iOS 12. She could avoid iOS 12 of course, but app updates are also going to mean slower apps regardless of the version of iOS used.
