LabC case is so close

I got the LabC

from Amazon and I think I'm returning it. The inner shell doesn't fit very well and makes it hard to toggle the 'silent' control, and the elastic is too tight. But I so much love the idea of it and the price is good.

If the Dock Artisan or Portenza magnetic cases solve those problems, I'd think about shelling out the extra money. I'm keeping my eyes out for your reviews!

I've been using a super cheap fold out wallet case
51C4ZxyEXzL._AA160_.jpg
from Amazon for my iPhone 5 (after my expensive Pad & Quill case fell apart and P&Q would only fix part of it. It's bulky but a wallet case is the only reliable way I've found to prevent me from leaving important things like my subway pass and work ID at home. So while I like the removable I don't want the wallet part to be so bulky (like this one
51MwSt9G0JL._AA160_.jpg
) that I end up taking the phone out at home and then forgetting to put it back in the morning - defeats the purpose.

I actually don't mind my cards showing while I've got the phone in my hands and looking at (yeah even on the NYC subway), but cards on the back of the phone makes me more nervous.

Anyway, I'm now vacillating between keeping the LabC (imperfect, but only $20) and going back to the style I had for my iPhone 5. While I wait for my dream wallet case to come out. Which I think would be convertible like the LabC (but actually fit properly and protect the phone), wrist-strap (detachable), plenty of carrying room, and preferably under $40. Yeah I can dream...

Finally found a folio type case I love!

Tech21 Classic Shell Wallet Case.

It's got excellent protection, is a great fit & looks fantastic.(The orange isn't as bright as in these pics.
Still great to use one handed whilst folded back too.

I know it's been a long time since you posted but I am thinking of getting that case. Only question I have is, since the camera cutout is pretty big, did you have any problems with the exposed area where it got scratched?
Thanks! :)

I have been using an Atelier Pall for the last 2 years with an ip5.

Image

I wrote a review when first bought it. The craftsmanship and function is fantastic, and the thing still look flawless after 2 years. It protected the phone well. I drop mine perhaps 3 times over the 2 years while it's in the wallet. When I trade the ip5 in last week, the phone was in mint condition.

Personally I don't care for the folio style wallet. When I use my phone, especially at home, I don't want to have the rest of my wallet attached to it.

Sure, there is a risk when you take the phone out and using it naked, but that's the risk I am willing to take for not having to put up with a case or carry a separate wallet when I go out. On the other hand, the Atelier Pall wallet is very protective when the phone is in it.

I did buy AppleCare+, partly because the ip6 is a bit more unwieldy due to the extra width, and partly because I let my 8 yrs old daughter play with it a few times a week. She is very careful and better than many adult I know about taking care of things, but accidents happen and if it does, I don't want her to feel too bad.

The only bad thing I feel about this is that now I have a perfectly beautiful wallet for an ip5 that I have no use for.

This look amazing. I hate the folio type cases, but I love the sleeves (like SENA). This is an outstanding combo.

Anyone know of anywhere that will make a folio/wallet case for an iphone 6 plus with another case already on the phone (hopefully a lifeproof when they come out)
I know storyleather does, but their "folio" isn't ideal

Pad & Quill cases incompatible with some Etymotic earphones

If you are thinking of buying a wallet case for your iPhone 6 or 6 plus that is made by Pad & Quill like either the Little Pocket Book (for the 6) or the Luxury Book (for the 6+), be advised that these items are not compatible with certain Etymotic earphones like the ER4 series.

With regard to the HF series and the MC3, I am not sure.

Here are some photos of the base of a Luxury Book with my iPhone 6 plus in it:

and this will give you an idea of how wide the collar(s) on the ER4s are:

POo2Djd.jpg

The clearance on the narrowest gap is 1 millimeter, which is NOT enough; to be clear, the ER4s will NOT plug into an iPhone 6 or 6 plus if it's in one of these Pad & Quill wallet cases.

Now, with regards to the HFs and the MCs made by Etymotics, I don't really know, because they have changed over the years.

But this, I believe, is the older HF and the (current) MC3 mini plug:

FDXODrR.jpg

which is probably NOT OK, due to the double collar.

However, the HF5 (and perhaps the other current HF earphones) might be OK, if this pic is to be believed:

Anyway, Etymotic owners who are considering purchasing these (otherwise completely awesome) wallet cases for your iPhone 6 or 6 plus, please consider these compatibility issues in your research.

FINALLY, with regard to the standard white earphones that actually come with your iPhone 6 or 6 plus, they WILL plug into an iPhone in one of the cases just fine, no problem whatsoever. I think the clearance on the collar is just barely under one millimeter, and that is why they make the grade.

It's all a rather sad outcome for me, since I waited for a month on delivery of my Luxury Book. Anyone reading this who owns a pair of ER4s (you're probability in the minority) will understand the regret. The Pad & Quill cases ARE killer, just as a pair of Etymotic ER4s have just about the best sound available for in-ear earphones.

Here's a consolation, tho, if you are one of these Etymotic owners: the Shieldon cases, while not as top-grade as the Pad & Quill offerings, are nearly the same experience (minus the incredible leather, build, extra card slot, and interior compartment that will handle the full length of USD bills). Shieldon makes one for the iPhone 6 and one for the iPhone 6 Plus currently only available in brown, unfortunately, but Amazon will probably get more black ones in soon enough; and the Shieldon WILL accommodate Etymotics with no problem whatsoever (which I can testify to after three weeks of using the Shieldon). The Shieldon is cheaper, slightly smaller, and it will stand up (at any angle) in landscape mode for video viewing.

Wow! That is one beautiful case!!
I especially like the two-tone leather. If it had the "kick-stand" feature, I'd be sold.

I just got my Verus Dandy Wine Red case in today. iPhone 6 should be here in the next few days. This case is every bit as beautiful as the pictures. Very good quality. Now if I had my phone I'd be all set. When ordering it the other day, I noticed it goes out of stock really fast. I love the magnetic clasp, the stitching, and the two tone colors of it.

Curious to hear your impressions of it, looks nice. One thing that I cant see in the pictures is if the bottom of the case is open so that the phone can be docked with it on.

I believe it's closed based on YouTube reviews but it's so thin it should be dockabke

Couldn't you just sand the wood down a bit to make it fit?

Nodus Access Case iPhone 6 Plus

I had originally ordered this case, then cancelled it and having used the iPhone 6 Plus for 2+ months now with the Apple leather (and silicone), I thought I'd try it again. I felt it would give me more options in terms of landscape viewing as it folds nicely into a stand, etc. It came yesterday and I must say I am VERY impressed. The leather smells like the best leather products, the case feels like it will protect the iPhone well (in the even of a drop which I haven't had yet) and it does offer really nice landscape viewing possibilities So I recommend it highly.

.......not much of a 'wallet case' if it only holds 1 card? :(

Holds 2 cards. Got it today. Fits tighter then a glove on the phone. Was able to put my ID and debit card in it could probably fit a single bill in there but that's max. Bottom of case is open so phone is dockable. No lay on table design. Super super thin profile. It is real leather on the back. I dig the case.

I bought an inexpensive black wallet case at Futureshop when I picked up my iPhone 6 on release day because the Dock Artisan case was on two-month preorder. That cheap wallet worked surprisingly well but did not have the finish quality or extra features of the Dock Artisan.

I've had the Dock Artisan for a few weeks now and quite happy with it.
http://www.dockartisan.com/products/sport-leather-wallet-case-iphone-6-pre-order

This is the first wallet case I've had where the phone is detachable. I really like that option. Much easier and more secure for taking calls and photos. The little inner case for the phone is slim and beautifully made with a classy leather back. The magnetic hold is quite secure, as you can see in the realistic video on their website.

I thought I would cut off the elastic keeper strap when it arrived, but when I actually had the case in my hands I realized the security value of that strap when I put the wallet in my briefcase or backpack. For pocket or desktop use it wraps out of the way to the back.

The whole unit is a tad bigger than the cheap initial case I had, so it is a bit bulkier in pockets, but that has more to do with the size of the iPhone 6.

Build quality is excellent. The finish of the light brown version I bought is suede-like so it kind of sticks going in and out of pockets. But looks very nice. There is a black version that seems to be smooth leather I think.

Bottom line: the wait was worth it and I am very happy with the Dock Artisan.

The Prodigee Wallegee is also a detachable wallet case and when detached, the case still has one slot on the back to carry one or two cards in.

The closure where a snap would normally be found on other wallet cases has a magnet in it so it can be flipped back and stuck to the back of the case since the "flap" that inserts into the case part has metal in it.

It's normally $49.99, but there are coupons floating around.
