iPhone 6s "Always on, always listening"

I'm on Camera from the time I step into the office until the time I leave. Everything I type on my work computer is logged, saved, and tucked away on a keylogging software. I leave the building and I am on camera in the parking lot while carrying a GPS that is always on in my pocket(phone), on camera at each red light in town, on camera at every business I pass, on camera at my home because I live directly across from a large natural gas filling station, my ID has my fingerprint on the back of it. I also have a concealed weapons permit so that is even more background checks... I go home and get on an iPad/MacBook Pro/PC that has more info on it and swipe or use my credit or debit cards everywhere I go.

Why would I care if Siri can hear me? lol

So basically no actual argument to make there. Got it.

I'm in line for the iPhone and need a poop! Trying to pass time. Need wet wipes.

Good for the goose....?
Pot, kettle black?

It's should be an opt-in service, not an opt out one... Siri is worse than useless, if it was a dog you'd have it put down to put it out of its misery..!

Thank you for proving the point. Seems like we can all move on.

Cool we all agree, this is pure spyware with no reason to have it...

Did you actually read anything that I wrote?

It doesn't record anything, it just internally streams and discards audio on the M9 co-processor until it hears the hot phrase. Nothing is being transmitted to a remote server without your activation. Therefore there is no "spying" and this isn't spyware.

Stop spreading FUD. All fingerprint data is stored locally on the device, Apple or non-Apple phones.

Besides, where I live we already have National ID cards and biometric passports. Quite hard to live off the grid now.

Like nobody, anywhere, ever can somehow grab the print? It's an $800 mobile phone, not some NASA security satellite.

That was for existing iPhones. The 6S has an always listening capability.

I wouldn't be too concerned about privacy in this case. There is likely a low power companion chip or low power sector of the A9 that handles the always listening. For most other companies (i.e. Motorola) who have this feature that chip or module simply checks what its hearing against what its supposed to be listening for. If the two match it activates the voice commands otherwise it does nothing. Nothing is recorded or transmitted until that phrase is heard. We'll have to wait for tear downs or more detailed reviews like on Anandtech to be sure though.
The M9 chip handles the alway on function and is built right into the main A9 SoC this time around. Not even remotely concerned about privacy in this situation. Apple is the one company that actually cares enough about it to willingly lose money in their iAd business as a result.

Well, while theoretically supposedly anything can be hacked, so far it doesn't seem like this has been, nor that Apple or anyone in particular has access to it (which is the main part that was being addressed).

Don't take any chances! Speak in Navajo, dip your fingers in acid and upgrade all foil hats to 7000 series aluminum.
