I have lags on 6S Plus. But I think it's caused by BETA software (iOS9.1).

Apple will fix the lags in the final release.

Set up as new phone since I haven't had a iPhone in a year and half.
Only lag is it's a little "sticky" as it unlocks with Touch ID.

I answered that I started fresh and had no lags or freezes. But now I'm not sure. Sometimes when I click on links within the News App nothing happens. I can 3D touch and peek and then open the link that way though. So I don't know if it's a glitch or designed that way.

Setup my iPhone 6S as new. Initially, it worked just fine with no lag. About 12 hours after setting the phone up, the lagging began. First Siri dictation would fail to initialize when pressing the microphone icon. Has to close the app and go back into it. Then, when sending a shared iCloud album to family members, it would freeze up every time I typed in the letter "d" to search for Dad. Then, Photos stopped opening up entirely. Hard restarted and it's still acting up. Pretty much every aspect of the phone is stodgy right now. Big departure from a few hours after setting up the phone initially. All iCloud photos and settings were done syncing a while ago. Maybe something in iCloud is causing an issue. Too tired to care for the night, but will play around with it more on Sunday.

Trying to figure out if this is an issue with restoring from backup, or just an iOS 9 issue with the 6S and 6S Plus.

Sometimes when unlocking the phone, the screen freezes, apps take a few seconds to open, etc. It goes away for a while, then comes back (especially if phone has not been used for a few minutes before unlocking again).

I'm having this issue. I'm getting a lot of random freezes. I can however cause it to freeze by typing out a long paragraph or a big note. Specifics of my device is iPhone 6s plus 128gb iOS 9.0.1 setup from a iCloud backup. I've seen a few posts around different places saying the 128gb 6s plus specifically uses a different brand of ram than the rest. One post was on iclarified on their post on boot speeds comparison between the 6, 6+, 6s and 6s+. The 6s+ was the slowest out of all 4 and all 4 were 128gb devices.

I do have that at times. Its quite irritating to have a new phone in this state.
Any remedy?

While playing around with my wife's iPhone 6s I noticed some major lag 2 times when using the touchID to sign in. As a Android phone guy I personally never use backups to restore and I always start fresh. Even during software upgrades I factory reset my Android devices. But my wife "demanded" that she not lose anything. I personally think that it's a mistake to carry over "junk" from a previous device.
My iPad Air 2 on beta 9.1 is also having some janky moments (the one iDevice I do use daily). I'm thinking about going back to official software and setting up from scratch.

This exactly what I described before reading your post. You sign in and it freezes up on you. And that's coming from a backup from a iPhone 5.

6s plus 128GB SG. Set up worked flawless, restored from iCloud backup. No lag, did heat up for 15 minutes as it was downloading, apps, pictures, music. After that working super fast. Battery drain seems on par or better than previous 6 plus. Using iPad charger, fills battery fast.

Seems it is effecting not fresh starts and restores. Has to be a iOS 9 issue for those affected. Both mine were restored from backups and no issues. Interesting.

I restored as a new phone. I'm going to wait before updating to 9.0.1 since others have had
problems with it. No freezes or lags for me so far. I have a 6s

I get the occasional bit and think it is an iOS 9 issue but it is a world apart from iOS 7 where I was before.

Had my first bit of freeze-up yesterday.... locked on black screen. Only way to get the phone to come to life was hold down the power and home button and hard reset....

I'm experiencing *some* stutter on my 6s Plus. 3D Touch menus on the home screen don't seem as smooth as the 6s I played with in store. Some apps stutter when scrolling, but I think that's a per-app software issue.

Got my 6s today... new phone setup (Moving from Android).. and I first noticed the lag today while it was plugged into my truck charging. But now that I'm back at home, it's doing it at least half the time when I unlock it (with Touch ID). This is annoying to say the least.

My 6S+ stalls after signing in with touch id. Not every time, but pretty consistent if you havent touched the phone for about 10 minutes. The screen is unresponsive for 1-2 seconds. If I press settings icon for example it wont open it right away and will lag, sometimes even 2-3 seconds. This is so annoying. However never had lag with status bar, once its logged its there intsantaniously.
I'm using it from backup and it was not there right away and appeared later, like a day after.

I am sure this will be fixed in the next firmware update. very critical issue.

I think this is a hardware problem. I had my first iPhone 6s Plus for two weeks and not once did I ever see it freeze when unlocking it. I had it replaced because it had a problem with Bluetooth. The replacement phone, which I set up as new, freezes for anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds any time I unlock it after having not used it for a few minutes. Both phones are 128 MB 6s+ phones, but my first one had a TSMC chip. The replacement one has a Samsung chip. I don't know if that's related or not, but it must be a hardware problem since my first phone didn't have this problem. I'm going to try and get it swapped again.

I did a restore from an iTunes backup to my 6s from my 6 plus. I had some lagging initially (and some lockups), but once I went into settings and pressed reset all settings, I never found any further issues yet.

So for me, option E: restore from iTunes, reset settings, and no lag
