MacManiack, a reseller of iPhone, iPad, and Mac parts and accessories, has shared a new video that compares a purported "iPhone 6s" display with an existing iPhone 6 display. The side-by-side comparison reveals that the displays are very similar overall, with identical dimensions and the same placement of the FaceTime camera and proximity sensor, but the front panels do have some notable differences.

The alleged "iPhone 6s" display has a new connector in the top-left corner that supports multiple rumors claiming the next-generation smartphone will be equipped with pressure-sensitive Force Touch technology. The "iPhone 6s" display also has slightly redesigned flex connectors, Touch ID is integrated in the LCD and digitizer connector, and the protective plate on the back of the LCD is glued in place.

As the launch of the so-called "iPhone 6s" and "iPhone 6s Plus" inches closer, multiple components for the upcoming smartphones have leaked from within the supply chain. Chinese phone repair company GeekBar shared three photos of an identical looking "iPhone 6s" display assembly last week, while photos of the device's purported rear shell, logic board, battery, and more parts have also surfaced.

I see LCD was mentioned a couple times. Was the screen verified to be LCD or is this just an assumption?

OLED is another possibily if it's anything like the Apple Watch. Apple said having a flexible display was necessary for the Apple Watch's Force Touch, and there's no such thing as flexible LCDs AFAIK.

Nothing about higher resolutions? I would say, there will be a bigger need for 4K displays if there's a market for VR adapters. When the apps get better, I'm sure this will be a big thing.

I cant believe they have the part in hand and still not able to confirm if Force Touch is there or not.

Saw no surprises in the video. Still have not heard anything about the 6S that will drive 6 owners (like me) to upgrade. For 5s, owners, it should be an easy sell.

For me personally, Force Touch would be enough for me to upgrade. It may seem like a gimmick now but if Apple adds functionality to iOS 9 from the get go it will become very useful.

I have this same question. Can Apple implement force touch in their current LCD displays? But if they were going OLED wouldn't we have heard rumors about that by now?

Not unless they make a 4" display available!! I know a bunch of people, myself included that'll hang on to our 5s, untill they make a third display size available, or at least manage to make the physical size of the iPhone 6, approx. the size of the 5s with the same 4.7" screen. Not at all interested in these massive smartphones! Not for a second!!

This is Apple we are talking about. We won't see VR support from them until either it is wide-spread or Apple finds a way to implement it better. If you want a good VR support right now, Samsung is the way to go.

Yeah, there's something bitterly ironic about them having stuck by the 3.5"/4" guns for so long, and explaining why they're so good ... then when they finally release larger phones, they seemingly abandon the market.

With the recent iPod update I'm sure they'll have a 4" model though. It's just a case of what to call it. iPhone mini?

I'll stick with my 5S until it's unusable on iOS, like my poor 4 when I updated to iOS 7 :(

Except for the fact that I like the 4" screen. When and if Apple comes up with another 4" iPhone I may upgrade then.

I felt the same, but still sold my 5s and got the 6. There are moments when my small hands cannot handle something and I need to go into two handed mode (not good when riding the bus/train and standing). Still I have to say that there has been no regrets with the move.

Apple left u behind, deal with it.

Can confirm, eagerly waiting for the 6S and 6S+ to upgrade. I almost gave in this spring and got a 6+ but since I upgrade every 2 years I wanted to stay on the S cycle

Seems like this will not ever happen and I feel the 4" screen will go the way of the 3.7 size IMHO.

Sadly, I suspect you're right.
I've stuck with my 5S, as I like the screen size, and I dislike many of the design features of the 6.. the camera lens hump, the antenna lines, the roundedness of the display etc.

Fortunately my 5S continues to work well, and doesn't stop working when a new phone comes out! ;-)

I would suspect that there will be an iPhone in the future with a 4.7" screen but in a form factor that is as small as (or perhaps smaller) than the 5S size.. maybe even with a flush back surface (!), and who knows, TouchID incorporated into the display...
I'll probably upgrade to that one.

How useless. They have the friggin' thing right there in front of them and they don't know whether it's Force Touch or whether it's OLED?

Get that thing to someone who knows what they're doing, these bleedin' amateurs don't deserve the YT hits they're getting!

The lower power consumption of OLED could also explain the leaked lower capacity battery.

Apple just supplies the display and a fast processor. The rest is all about apps. I already enjoy my Homido in combination with my iPhone6. Works like a charme and I already feel the need for a higher res display. Sure, Apple aims on the watch but an iPhone with 4K display would make it a killer VR device. Apps for VR stereoscopic adapters are already there in the Apple AppStore. When Oculus Rift kicks in, I'm sure VR will be big for all mobile devices including the iPhone.

I think the interesting part that no one has noticed is that the display and digitizer are on the same cable now. Looking at the 6 display there is a connector for each. On the 6s there is a connector for the display and the second cable runs down behind the metal plate and connects for the home button. If you put the plate on the 6, there is another connector at the top. On the leaked motherboard shots, there is one less connector spot as well.
