Maybe there will be a new naming scheme to unify across lines based on screen size? I'd like it, anyway:

4'': iPhone Mini
4.7'': iPhone Air
5.5'': iPhone Pro

7.9'': iPad Mini
9.7'': iPad Air
12.9'': iPad Pro

I don't mind the current +1 numbering scheme for iOS devices, I just think it's unsustainable, and think Apple thinks the same. "Introducing the iPhone 12!" seems clumsy (if they keep it)...and at a certain point, you could argue that it gives a product baggage (seems old) rather than "one better".

Of course, this unifying doesn't fit once you consider the current laptops, since the "Air" has worse resolution than the MacBook.

Naming a device "Pro" because the screen is bigger makes no sense.

Does the title bother anyone else? I fell like it would read better by listing the iPhone 6 first, then the iPhone 6S. But maybe that's just me.

Not unless they make a 4" display available!! I know a bunch of people, myself included that'll hang on to our 5s, untill they make a third display size available, or at least manage to make the physical size of the iPhone 6, approx. the size of the 5s with the same 4.7" screen. Not at all interested in these massive smartphones! Not for a second!!

Have you played with the 6, yet? It's anything but massive. My brother had the same concern when upgrading from a 5s, but he's had no issues with the 6. I think you'll find the slightly larger footprint worth it when you eventually make the switch. I upgraded from a 5s to a 6+ and I love the extra real estate for videos, web browsing, gaming, etc. I find myself using the phone for more things, which justifies the price for me. Is the phone in my pocket less? Absolutely. It's not as comfortable to sit down with in my pocket, but that just means it's more readily available on a desk or in my car console. Of course, the extra battery life is amazing to have as well.

When multi-tasking hits iPhones (probably next year), you'll welcome the extra space even more.

I'll pass on the new phone, force touch doesn't interest me on a bigger screen. I'm just looking forward to the apple tv announcement, that to me could be pretty innovative.

So if they don't make a 4" display, how may years will you hold out before you go bigger?
Until the battery doesn't charge any more?
Until it's not worth anything for trade in?

If they don't offer the smaller one this time, do you think they'll backpedal next year (or the next) and make a 4"?

If you're going to have to pull the plug eventually, why wait...?

To be honest I think you're going to be disappointed. Maybe the iPhone 7 will have some design changes to reduce the top and bottom bezels and make it a smaller footprint (I hope this as I want a 5.5" screen in something not as large as the 6+) but we'll never see the most up to date processor inside a 5S sized body again.

Maybe the 'c' line of devices, if they continue to be produced, will be 4" and one processor behind for the people who really want the smaller package.

Try using reachability function on your phone. Wife had problems too with the 6 but once she started using it she found it very usable with one hand. The 6 really is not that big, still fits into pockets quite easily.

Nothing about higher resolutions? I would say, there will be a bigger need for 4K displays if there's a market for VR adapters. When the apps get better, I'm sure this will be a big thing.
I doubt the 6s is going to have enough power to run VR adapters, the demands exceed that of most PCs graphically.

4k on a phone screen is completely unnecessary, pixel density for the sake of it. It's benefits over the standard 'retina plus' displays seen in the 6 plus is marginal and not worth the strain it would place upon the phone.

Saw no surprises in the video. Still have not heard anything about the 6S that will drive 6 owners (like me) to upgrade. For 5s, owners, it should be an easy sell.

My consideration on the few odd upgrade years that I did upgrade (when I was not due), was: what are the new features and/or what's the value of my old iPhone? If the features weren't enough, the buyback price was high enough to convince me to do it (other years not so much).

Nicer camera, faster, more RAM, and force touch would be on my list of what I wanted (3 of the 4 are what's generally on my list). The more significant the upgrades the more likely I'd do it. (Extra cash availability was relevant too!)

I'd love Force Touch, but I can't help thinking the display components would be more visibly different in that event.

(Don't look for a totally new 4" phone--parts would probably have leaked. Maybe someday!)

The +1 is unavoidable. if they go by the new naming convention you mentioned (which I also like) next years new iphone will have to be...

4'': iPhone Mini 2
4.7'': iPhone Air 2
5.5'': iPhone Pro 2

And so on.

I think at this point it is all but confirmed that the 6s will get Force Touch. It's just a totally obvious update and frankly it would be more surprising if they DIDN'T add it. I expect the iPads will get it too.

I cant believe they have the part in hand and still not able to confirm if Force Touch is there or not.

For me personally, Force Touch would be enough for me to upgrade. It may seem like a gimmick now but if Apple adds functionality to iOS 9 from the get go it will become very useful.

While Force Touch on the phone would be cool, I'm really hoping/looking forward to an iPad Air (or even better, iPad Pro) with Force Touch, specifically for use with velocity sensitive instruments, like pianos. Of course, my use may be niche, but it would still be way cool.

iPhone 6PlusS....now take the marbles out of your mouth and say IPhone 6 Pro. I would be shocked if there isn't a new naming scheme

I brought this up about a week ago, if I know Apple, I think they might push towards a different naming convention for this new iPhone. iPhone 6s Plus is a mouthful. Although only being an 's' release, I'm a bit doubtful they'd make such a significant change to the naming.

They mentioned LCD, but is this confirmed? I am really hoping it is OLED. Really excited to see how apple implements force touch the iPhone. I have really grown to love it on my mbp.
