Hopefully there is more to Force Touch on the iPhone than a long press and haptic feedback.

Have you played with the 6, yet? It's anything but massive.

I tried to play with one at the apple store but the damn thing is so thin I slashed my hand open on the razor edge. I wish Apple would show a little innovation and make a phone that is thick enough to be comfortable to hold without having to get an external case just to thicken it up.

The grid of dots on the panel seems more like a confirmation of force touch to me than any stupid new cable...
After-seeing-Force-Touch-on-the-Apple-Watch-the-company-has-introduced-the-same-functionality-on-its-new-Macbook-1.jpg

I hate to spoil the fun but let me predict this '6S' hysteria:

* Same body design
* Same camera design but w/updated resolution and some more filters/optical gimmicks
* Same fingerprint sensor
* Same LCD panel
* MAYBE, just maybe force touch
* definitely still 1GB ram

Last one is most likely. You will not see 2GB ram until the iPhone 7.

That's exactly what I'm thinking as well. All the more reason for me to just wait for I7.

Same body design but more rigid and no more "bending hysteria"
Same camera design but better at 12MP
Same fingerprint but it is flawless
Force Touch 100%
100% triple core and 2 GB RAM- this is their primary PRODUCT and they will not keep outdated vs iPad Air 2 more than 1 year
So if you are an android fan, you are not belong here

I see LCD was mentioned a couple times. Was the screen verified to be LCD or is this just an assumption?

OLED is another possibily if it's anything like the Apple Watch. Apple said having a flexible display was necessary for the Apple Watch's Force Touch, and there's no such thing as flexible LCDs AFAIK.

Can't see OLED before iPhone 7, sorry.

I can't wait until this round of S cycle rumors is over with because it's always the same song and dance every other year. "iPhone (X)s display to be same as iPhone (X) display" or "iPhone (X)s body to keep same shape as iPhone (X) body."

The juiciest rumors are always the main product ones that get updated on the whole cycle.

Apple left u behind, deal with it.

We are dealing with it. We're not buying new phones from them until they make another 5s-sized phone. THAT'S HOW FREE MARKETS WORK. It seems you're the one having a hard time dealing with that.

He's right in that, it will be interesting to see how Apple will implement Force touch with an LCD display. There haven't been any supply chain leaks to indicate the 6s will use OLED, so you're most likely correct that we'll see that arrive in the 10th generation of iPhone (or later), but it does make the question of "how" force touch is being implemented in the 9th gen iPhone interesting

I'm looking forward to the chipset in this device, hopefully its a big jump over the A7/A8

So if they don't make a 4" display, how may years will you hold out before you go bigger?
Until the battery doesn't charge any more?
Until it's not worth anything for trade in?

If they don't offer the smaller one this time, do you think they'll backpedal next year (or the next) and make a 4"?

If you're going to have to pull the plug eventually, why wait...?

Gary
(Questions in italics are rhetorical)

Well, if you upgrade to the 6s this year on contract, and you have a 2-year contract, then if they come out with a 4" next year you have to either wait or buy off contract.

And, hey, if you have a working phone that you're happy with, why upgrade? I don't get all the "YOU have to have the newest" mentality. Let other people keep their current phones if that's what they want to do. Keep your eyes on your own phone (and wallet) and let other people use the phones they want to use.

As much as I like iOS for being as intuitive as I could ever ask for (compared to Windows/Android/Etc), in my mind the weakest part of the iPhone is the display. In that 1 and only category, I think Samsung's competing devices (Galaxy S6, for example) win hands down. I actually find Apple's display in the iPhone 6 Plus to be pretty pathetic in terms of greys/blacks. I've had my phone replaced 4 times for shoddy displays (varying from camouflage patterns on the screen, to horizontal lines on the bottom half of screen, etc). I know they won't do a damn thing to make a better display on the iPhone 6s, but one can dream.

The 6 really is not that big, still fits into pockets quite easily.

Haha. Co-worker got a 6. We tried it in my front jeans pocket. What a joke. Not even half the phone fit.

You dudes just don't get it. Women's pants pockets are SMALL, especially if the woman is small (pants pockets are proportional, not one size fits all).

Apple excepts sales of 90 Million + for the iPhone 6S/6S Plus ... I don't think they can achieve this with "your" upgrade list.

Since every "S" Cycle release Apple had one big feature nobody predicted nor was it leaked: 5S new 64-bit CPU (literally no one expected this) ; 4S: No one expected Siri (-some even thought they would still use a single core CPU for the 4S but it was the first Dual-Core iPhone)

So i think a major new CPU maybe tri-core like the Air 2 or something is expected to come. And even OLED Display is not impossible. Besides the leaks no one can tell what display panel is being used for the new 6S.

Touch ID on the screen? So does this mean the home button is finally dead and they can shrink the bottom bezel so the phone isn't so stinkin long? Especially the 6 Plus. Put that one in a case and it's a monster.

Nothing about higher resolutions? I would say, there will be a bigger need for 4K displays if there's a market for VR adapters. When the apps get better, I'm sure this will be a big thing.

The problem is 4K uses more power (from the GPU to drive it and from the screen itself); if there is no immediate use for it and die shrink doesn't give enough power saving, doing it would not be a good thing for the 90% of people who don't need it. They'd get less hours of battery out of their phone.

Considering the massive new tech in 5S, you get bored pretty easy ;-). The rumors are boring because the main changes are not visible to the naked eye in general.

I haven't seen a single leak of iPhone 6S+ parts besides the technical drawings.
Isn't that surprising/worrying so close to launch date?

tochID on the screen we will see only with maybe iphone7 or iphone 8 in 2018 only if apple will remove home button and use the entire screen with sapphire

I did not plan on upgrading, but if the 6S does indeed have an OLED panel, i’m sold.

LOL. You forgot one:

* Same A8 processor
