They must have improved their supply methods. Last year I pre-ordred a 64GB space gray iPhone 6 from US Cellular and it took about a week for me to get it. On Friday I walked into the Verizon store at about 3PM and bought a 64GB space gray without any issues. Two of my family members were also able to get the 16GB models.

That's because Apple didn't purposely gimp the phone like the did with the iPhone 6/6+ and iOS 9 is stellar out of the box.

Wow... This is very surprising especially for a "S" iteration. I wish they would publish some Apple Watch statistics. Bring on the iPhone 7 rumors! haha

Additionally, I hope they publish some other stats such as people upgrading from the iPhone 6, switchers from other platforms, first time iPhone users, model sales breakdowns, etc. That would be interesting stuff to know..

I went to check the AAPL stock and of course it dropped :D

Am I correct though that the "opening weekend" was actually two+ weeks of preorders? (In any case Samsung execs are now to be found in the toilet cubicles, rocking back and forth and moaning quietly)

The market hasn't opened yet for today.

Apple is setting itself up in a bad position with this high-expectation. it will have to break its own breaking-record numbers in the future or else.... and we all know nothing will go up forever, nature law of gravity.
Still it's probably more a function of supply than demand. Go to that tracking website and the earliest ship date is 10/5. Seems to me Apple is selling them as fast as they can make them.

Impressive. I find it annoying that the only thing I actually want from the 6s over my current 6+ is the 2gb of ram which Apple should have included last year. Frankly, I dont feel like supporting their actions by hoping over to the 6s... I wonder how much real world faster the 6s would be over the 6 if they both had 2gb ram...
The new touch id sensor also makes it feel a LOT faster, I hardly even see the lock screen now, in fact I had to check it was actually locking.
It does makes it harder to do a time check or get to the camera quickly (from locked) as it just blasts straight past the lock screen.

Thirteen million, that's an amazing number!

And even though it was to be expected, I'm glad they've finally announced that iPhone 6s is coming to the Netherlands on October 9th. Can't come soon enough. :p

We knew this would happen. I wonder when Apple will actually fail to beat its previous years numbers but it doesn't look like it will be this year! All the critics who panned the 6S as they do every release -- and predicted its doom -- can eat humble pie, as they do every year. They never learn.

Pre market trends. They're down across the board in the tech sector. We'll see what happens after opening in about 10 minutes. I'd be surprised if AAPL doesn't go up some today, these are big numbers.

live photos and 3D touch awesome

battery life is insane

Live photos and 3d touch are gimmicks and I've tried them. Live photos takes twice as much room due to it saving the picture and a MOV video file of 5 seconds before and 5 seconds after the photo. 3d touch is Apple's branding of a shortcut key via the screen, despite people being told for years not to press on the screens of their phones due to possible damage. If you need a shortcut for a phone, you need to see a psychologist.

I'm actually surprised how well they are selling due to the cost of these phones, especially when you factor in currency conversion in other countries. In Canada iPhones are now exorbitantly expensive - $400 for an GB iPhone 6S or $530 for an 16GB 6 Plus - on a TWO YEAR CONTRACT! Outright its $915 or $1,055.

The extra room certainly isn't much and it's not something i would ever worry about with 128GB model phone. The times I have used
It have been great for certain moments. It’s clever and funny to use. Just as 3D touch is great for quicker access. Is quicker access needed? No but what is? Anything to make things quicker and easier and it’s a clever feature.

Most who I have spoke to are loving these features. Clearly a gimmick for you but for alot it is something people will use.

Yep, $AAPL will be down in trading today, as the analysts cite weak demand for the 6S.

Analyst Sum Ting Wong states in a paper to investors, "weak demand for the 6S is indicated in the fact that only 13M were sold and Apple couldn't reach 14M. Also, reliance on China for its sales covers up weak sales of the 6S in Guatemala where most of the indigenous peoples have passed on upgrading from the 6."
