Can that Aussie dude do all bend test videos from now on? The guy last year was insufferable!

Looks like the 7000 series aluminum and internal reinforcing did the trick though!

The iPhone 6s or its packaging "doesn't have a smell, which is kind of disappointing."

This is what it's come to.
I know. Maybe I'm just grumpy because my NFL football team looks like crap right now. But when I got to that part I lived up to the Grumpy in my name and said some very sarcastic things. I don't dare watch the drop test video in this mood.

Totally off topic, but since all my colleagues have their iPhones babied in cases, I rarely see a naked 6/6+ But man, every time I see it, I think "Jony Ive should be ashamed of himself"

It never ceases to amaze me how much money youtubers make from videos of tearing up expensive hardware.
We human beings are innately drawn to chaos and destruction. It's in our nature, no surprise that Youtube caters, much less profits handsomely from this.

Yearly ritual to watch people destroy iPhones before I get mine. Waiting for the sledgehammer guy.

I know this isn't properly cynical and curmudgeonly, but I enjoy the drop tests and bend tests. Especially when performed by cute nerdy guys with accents.

For the same reason soap operas, nighttime dramas, news of someone getting shot and killed is more desired than a movie about Bambi. Because people thrive off watching negative things involving other people.....as long as they aren't involved.

Drop tested my 50" plasma tv and what do you know, the screen shattered.... Wtf!?
I do appreciate the testing and videos but suprised when people get mad/upset that their $800 device actually breaks when they drop it?.. You drop it.... That's like being shocked your teeth got knocked out if Ronda Rouse punched you in the face.

Can't please everyone. The iPhone is fat..too skinny..too slick..sticks in my pocket...bends when I sit in it...breaks when I drop it... Put it in a case. Case is to fat... I don't like a case, Vicious cycle of whining. Lol
Excited just to have the privilege to get one and will attempt to take care of it. Accidents happen and that's why you have "in-case" aka insurance. And if you think the insurance is too much? Don't get the phone. You have to realize you're spending at least $800 on a phone. You don't (and shouldn't) drive a car or own a house without insurance. This is likely one of those big expenses for some.
That's my two cents on this post since I can't get to sleep. Cheers!

Can we not publicize drop tests? It's usually attention whores. Also no two drops are ever the same.

Just like the people that do the unboxing videos. They order the products, film it, get YouTube cash, and then return the product to Apple.

What a nut! Absolutely no science involved in this whatsoever.

Did you hear what the guy said on the drop test?

"The 6 Plus S is more durable because of the weight when it drops out of your pocket it lands a certain way"

Idiot.

Screen replacement doesn't cost that much? You HAVE to be kidding me !!

Apple care is $99
Verizon, att, sprint is going to be $199 IF you have insurance.
After market price on replacement glass hasn't come in yet but with the new 3D Touch your going to be looking at probably 249$ to 299$ in PARTS alone, then labor: 300-350$ is A LOT of money.

Don't kid yourself...kid

I just wanted to know if your smugness faded when someone provided the link to the Apple provided repair of $129?

I think the screen cracking on the 6s so easily, was probably a fluke. But goes to show... don't drop your phone.

Oh I cringe every time I see these videos, but WOW that 6s+ is impressive.

Do these guys really make enough money off Youtube to make that money back? Unless of course they bought AC+ :p

Uhh... no. Youtube people make pennies. You need like a million views in 24 hour time span, per video, to earn more than a few dollars. Google's payouts for ads are a joke and is the reason ads are so terrible and sites like this try to dump 15 ads per page on you.

I think the screen cracking on the 6s so easily, was probably a fluke. But goes to show... don't drop your phone.

I didn't see him polishing the floor beforehand, so the most likely reason for it shattering is because it landed face-down on something bigger than a piece of dust. Thus physics dictates the entire weight and kinetic energy of the drop is displaced at the impact point.

The fact that the screen still works post drop is interesting, since it just means the surface glass is cracked, though I imagine the 3D touch features would probably be ill-advised once damaged.
