I was the first in my city to have the iPhone 4. I came out of the store and there were local news cameras all around me yelling, "Hold it up! Hold it up!" I did and the line of a couple hundred booed loudly and someone threw a cup at me. I was all over the news and friends and family ridiculed me mercilessly. Safe to say that was the last launch I attended...

It wouldn't be so bad if people didn't suck. You should have thrown it back at them but fill it with something undesirable. :p

I would threw something back. This is not nice and this should not be done. Person throwing the cup must have known you might pay back :D

I wish I could line up for a brand new iPhone, but unfortunately I’m among the few people in the world who believe that the iPhone 5s is still the greatest phone ever made.

Still hanging out for a 4” phone with modern specs….

Tru dat. I have iP5 and next upgrade will be 5S. I love how you hold it. I love how it is compact in my palm and in my pocket. Wise words, man.

Yes , Apparently Samsung was there offering pillows and blankets for those in the queue.

That's so lame.

Samsung bash Apple at every opportunity but then copy them over and over and over again. It's like they're schizophrenic or something.

Wish I could go line up for a phone. I'm at my office working like a damn fool.

:D Sorry not sure if you intended that to be funny but i had a good laugh reading it lmao:D

Only reason I was there was because of the upgrade program.. this year you need to go to apply for the credit account/lease/whatever. Next year(s) you need to go to swap phones.

At Fair Oaks mall (Fairfax, VA, USA), it was very organized. Individual 'corral' lines for each reservation slot, we were checked in as we arrived (I got there at 0715 and was number five). At 0800, they took the first ten people and we were (of course) the first time for each person, so, it was fun. In total, 20 minutes in the store, five of which was her finding my phone in the back.

Note that they don't touch the new phone, it's activated by the new/current bar code scan, and you take it home and restore it, set it up as always. The whole credit check/application took about ten minutes and most of that was data entry on the little 5s (I assume) phone terminals they use. How quaint! (To quote a famous engineer... :) ).

In all, a very painless experience here. I've seen other stories where it wasn't so smooth...

Gosh, where was this? I don't understand why people would "boo" at you being the first person...at a 5s launch I was at people cheered the 1st person through.

I waited in lined for the launch of the iPhone 4 & 5. It was cool to do it at least once. I won't do it again though. I'll just get mine in the mail or through a reservation in the future. Can't wait to get my iPhone 6s plus today!

Above Avalon's Neil Cybart posted his rose gold on Twitter. Says it's not really that pink.

Impatiently awaiting the UPS man in Pennsylvania. o_O
I got my 6 last year via UPS in the Lehigh Valley. Didn't come til 7:30, and the delivery guy was like you cannot believe how many of these I've delivered today. Hope yours comes sooner.

That's what I was wondering. I am probably doing the upgrade program and have a reservation tonight. So they told you you'd just need to go and swap the phone next year? Was wondering how that worked. Hopefully it's quick for me too, I have to get in and out quick.

Saved my day off this week just for today! As fun as they were, the days of waiting in line at the Apple Store are behind me. It is SO much better to just wait at home and wait for the man in brown to bring it to me. I got my Apple Watch and docks yesterday and now just need my sweet new 6s!

Had an 8am reservation for a 6S at my local store intending to use the upgrade program, but Citizen's Bank would not authorize to two different Chase credit cards. But I received emails from Citizens with truth in lending disclosures each time. Very odd. Anyone else experience this? Ended up purchasing it outright with ACare+ which I was going to do anyway on this round of upgrades until I saw the Upgrade program announced. I only lose unlocked status, but not going to move away from Verizon anytime soon anyway. Looking forward to having my $40 a month line charge at Verizon dropped to $15 a month once off contract. Now I just have to decide whether to sell my 6 or pass it to another family member. Amazon will give me $429 for it...
