Wow. Whenever I see people standing in line to buy a phone, this image comes to my mind.

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus launch day has officially arrived in the United States and Canada as Apple Stores in eastern cities such as New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto and Washington D.C. have now opened at 8:00 am local time. The launch will continue westward across the U.S. and Canada over the next three hours.

Apple Stores will now begin fulfilling in-store reservations for the new iPhones and accepting walk-in purchases from the long queues that have formed at some locations. UPS and FedEx will also be making pre-order deliveries generally between the hours of 9:00 am and 8:00 pm to residential addresses.

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus first arrived in New Zealand last night, and the new devices were quickly subjected to an early unboxing, drop test, teardown, bend test and camera comparison. The devices have now launched in all first wave countries, including the U.S., Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the U.K.

Went to my ATT store this morning, no line. Went inside, 15 salespeople, no customers. I said I wanted to purchase a new iPhone 6s+, and the saleslady started crying. They still haven't received their allotment of phones. Maybe tomorrow. She said it was the worst Launch Day ever!

lol that's a bit dramatic.

Apple store at garden city in Perth was very busy, but very orderly. Checked in at 115pm for my 130 appointment. Asked the guy at the door if I could change my order from silver to slate grey. He said, sorry all gone. He directed me down to the girl who would look after me. I asked her the same question. She checked and came back with a slate grey iPhone 6s plus 128gb. Happy days. Out by 145. Nice phone

I don't know I happened by the Best Buy I bought my 5s from two years ago and no line outside after visting Target with a group of sales associates and no customers. They opened early for launch day but had no stock by the time I stopped by around nine. Saw several disappointed kids with their parents traipsing in and out of the store in the 5 minutes I was there. One said to his father, "Try Staples next?"
The perpetual phone shortage since Apple widened launch day must have been the worst this year. Glad I bought my Moto X.

My wife and I had our phones delivered at 12:30. Both are setup and ready to go!! Exciting!! Luckily because of pope office was closed today so I was able to be home and sign for them.

Somehow, my UPS tracking page says it's coming Monday now. It's only about a half hour from my house too!:mad::mad:

Got mine around noon today. Was an easy process, still had to wait in line for the reservation pickup. Almost couldn't get it because I'm on a family plan and the plan holder (brother) wasn't there. I had his pin and same address as him, so it worked.

Honestly love these launches, wish I didn't have to work, I like the chats you get into when queuing, met some great people over time.
In such situations I'm always amazed at the stuff some people are willing to tell complete strangers, things they wouldn't confide to their friends. Maybe the anonymity factor of talking to people you'll never see again?

Funny part of that is the gal I saw twice during S-Model launches. She stated that she has to sneak away to get the S-Model updates so her husband wouldn't know. She counted on the fact of the phone being exactly the same (looking) as the previous model, so she wouldn't get in trouble. Apparently she was saving bits of her income (Nurse) into a separate savings account to save up for her phone every year.

I respected that, not the part about being sneaky, but the savings account, and I actually started doing that myself.

At the Apple Store? I'm doing the same, will flip out if they pull that on me. I've been on the same family plan since the iPhone 2G and this is my 6th iPhone with that never being an issue before.

A buddy of mine works as a sales rep at an AT&T store about 20 minutes away from where I work. He and I were talking yesterday and he thought they'd be sold out before I could take an early lunch break and get there. He shot me a text this morning saying sales were much slower than expected and he thought I'd have no problem getting a 64 GB iPhone 6S in Space Grey. I left work at 11 AM, got there and got the phone and was back to the office by noon. He said he was shocked at how slow sales were compared to previous launch days.

no one wants to make the long lines, especially if you have to work or don't have the time to waste. Online is where its at, its the future of all launch day orders. I can see in the near future people ordering online getting theirs one day before regular customers to push people to get them to buy them before the release date.

6s is not ever sold out. It's the plus that is for obvious reasons

The lines are the best thing.

I agree - Although when I went to our local Best Buy this morning (opened at 8AM and I arrived at 8:00AM) I was the only customer in the store for the entire duration of the activation and sales pitch (maybe 30-40 min). I couldn't believe there wasn't one other person there. They also had plenty of stock.

That's exactly how it went down at my Verizon corporate store and many other places in my area for the plus model. What a failed launch. Not one store received it.
