With less than one day until the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus launch in twelve countries, customers have begun forming lines at Apple Stores around the world to purchase one of the new devices. The size of the lineups vary depending on the location and will undoubtedly grow longer as we get closer to 8:00 am local time on Friday in each country.

Longer lines have formed at two Apple Stores in the German cities of Hamburg and Munich on the evening prior to the iPhone launch, while there are shorter queues in U.S. cities such as Chicago and San Francisco. Meanwhile, in Sydney, Australia, a media executive has a robot holding her place in line.

Not at all surprised, but bummed non the less to see the Chicago line started. My bf didn't pre order and we'll hit one of the stores early tomorrow, but with a 4 year old, no dice on the overnight. Ah well.

Picture me waiting by my mail box.

I don't know why anybody would do this. I also don't get why people go to concerts when the music sounds better recorded, can be played anywhere at any time, and costs less than live performances.

I cannot imagine this being enjoyable ergo it cannot be.

:p

I love going to midnight launches for books and games. But this is just ridiculous. As in, I can see the value of waiting an hour or two with likeminded fans but to spend days doing it? It's loopy.

I suppose part of it is down to envy that I don't have enough free time to just do that. But I'd spend it doing other things at least!

I heard that many of the people in front of the German stores are from northern and especially Eastern Europe where the iPhone won't be available for a few weeks.
These people have can't preorder or reserve a phone so the only way for them to get one is line up and hope they have stock.

That also explains why the lines are so long in Germany compared to the other stores.

I know this has nothing to do with this thread, but, could someone tell me if I use a upgrade from another phone line in my plan to use with a different number (on same plan), can I just switch sim cards to be able to use that number on the new phone? Thanks in advance.

Not sure where i would find this answer in the other forums.

WTH? I can't quite understand why folks are queuing when, in the U.K., most S models were still available for in store reservation at lunch time on the day pre-orders went live ....
