Do what you want with your life but I never understood how people can camp out for 2 days for a phone. I see how but do they not have jobs? Do they take vacation around the time of the phone launch? Not being hostile here, just curious.
Your innocent, neutral curiosity will be twisted around and turned on you, I am sure you know that, but I align with your opinion - (if they do so, ignore them.) I neither understand this weird obsession either, beyond it possibly being a way for some of them with little real edification and happiness in their lives to get a short term, temporary thrill (like riding a rollercoaster, another thing I wouldn't do). Again, like you, not at all "bothered" by their doing whatever suits them, it's just a tad worrying in some ways. And no, I won't be justifying my views any more than THEY would need to, theirs.

I don't know why anybody would do this. I also don't get why people go to concerts when the music sounds better recorded, can be played anywhere at any time, and costs less than live performances.

I cannot imagine this being enjoyable ergo it cannot be.

:p

Is there anything you can imagine? World Peace. Global Unwarming?

I have NOTHING against waiting in line or the people that do it.

I just was wondering why wait in line when you could have made a reservation?

I made a reservation on the 13th for pickup at 6:30 tomorrow.

Why wait in line?

Thanks.
See my comment above. I am sure somehow, somewhere a couple hooked up in an iPhone overnight line.

This is more or less a social thing now. When Apple was smaller and launched revolutionary products(first iphone, first ipad, first ipod) every one wanted to get their hands on one because supplies might be limited. Now Apple is a mega enterprise that build maybe 5 million phones a week and 6S is just an updated 6 so nothing major... there is no real need to do this.

The only thing I can think of is people waiting in line to buy and sell on ebay for social retarded people off shore that are willing to pay 3x the price just to show their friends "I got the new product 1 week earlier" and believe me they do exist.

Best part about living in SoCal is never waiting in lines. i just head to my local At&t store or Apple store and have always scored an iPhone on release day. The very first one was hilarious. Got off work at 5pm, headed to the Apple store @ the Brea Mall and they had thousands while the rest of the country was in chaos. Same with iPad or anything hot.

Did you make it down to the Belgian store opening? I'm in Ghent 2-3 times a year and tried to make a work trip out to coincide with the opening. Looks like a beautiful store. I'll be visiting in March to see it.
No, I couldn't get down there on time.
Wish I could though.

I sure will be visiting when I can, it looks gorgeous!

It's not for me but if it makes them happy then that can only be a good thing :D

To anyone queueing - Merry Early Christmas!

I can't understand that people still do this. When the first few versions came out, I kind of got it. But by now I can't see the thrill in an iPhone anymore. I'm probably just getting old;-)

You realise you can go and meet people without needing to go to an Apple store, right? By the way, I mean REAL meetings, not this online "community" nonsense.

Right, I know that. The point here is meeting people who are all excited over the same thing at that time. That is a whole different experience, just like going to a concert and meeting other people that love the same band. Just because there are other ways of meeting people doesn't mean that this way, or another, is suddenly invalidated.

You mean there are people out there? Wow, you make so much sense.

Someone didn't realise one can preorder. I'll be getting mine tomorrow morning courtesy of UPS.

Good luck with the morning thing. I preordered, it's almost sunset, and my 6S is still out in some UPS truck, likely circling some other part of town stuck in traffic. The line would have been faster this year.
