Makes no difference to me. I got the 64 GB iPhone 5s and this just means I get a 64 GB iPhone at a cheaper price than before.

Are people here really just whining over having to spend just a little more money to get a substantially better deal?

Makes me wish Apple would just drop the 16 GB model, offer the 64 and 128 GB models, and raise the starting price to $299. That would show everyone.

Congratulations, you're the consumer that Apple love. "Oh, well now you get 4 times more storage by upgrading than you did before! I'm getting a substantially better deal!"

Wake up. It's been 16GB base storage since the 3GS. Flash chips have plummeted in price to the point where the difference between 16GB and 32GB (for Apple) is likely to be less than $1. Darn I get angry reading comments like yours.

Apple should make the entry level 32GB but there's one reason the probably won't: they don't want a bunch of downgrades from 64GB owners. Neil Cybart who runs the Apple centric site Above Avalon claims that keeping the entry level storage at 16Gb is saving Apple $3B.

No doubt they'll drop the 16gb entry when they up the highest to 256gb so they keep the 64gb buyers i.e

32GB
128GB
256GB

Lol at people pissed about 16gb. Chill! 64gb and 128gb are available. Don't worry, people will complain that 32gb is too little for 4K once it becomes to base.

Yall pissed at Apple now, but would praise them if they are just waiting on 64, 128 and 256 for the iPhone 7. For all we know, that could be what it becomes.

what a joke

While I get what you're trying to say, I would like to point out that the 3GS base storage was 8GB not 16GB.

This suggests that the new line of iPhones this year will once again offer a starting storage option of 16GB, likely supplemented with the same 64GB and 128GB options at higher price points seen currently.

If they do this I will nuke them. In my mind. But I will still nuke them.

A meager 16GB of on-board storage in 2015 is complete ******** no matter what cloud service you offer with it as a company. It wasn't even acceptable in 2013 with the 5S but CERTAINLY NOT NOW. 32GB MINIMUM or riots.

Personally I'm okay with 16gb for the base model, since I will buy at least 64gb.

But a solution would be, to make it 32,128,(256 if possible). So people will still be tempted to go up one size. Because who would pay 100$ to go from 32 to 64...

Geezzz... Just because you don't want 16GB doesn't mean others won't... There are LOTS of people who are very happy with 16GB, that don't need more. Plus, the other options are available, so what's really the problem?

Well, I know I am not the one raising a hissy fit here about Apple not increasing the storage of their phones. I knew I needed 64 GB of storage on my iPhone, I willingly paid for it and it's serving me very well.

This whole thread essentially boils down to people wanting to save a bit of money and whining that they have a spend a little more. Like I said - just drop the 16 GB model and raise the price to $299 on contract. Don't want to pay? Then just don't get an iPhone. At least Apple can't be accused of not including sufficient storage in their devices.

Except for a 32 GB base model I'd like to see a (if possible) more scratch resistant screen. It seems like the screen iPhone 6 (and I presume 6 Plus too) quite easily gets scratched for some reason. More so than previous iPhones.

For someone who lives where their is not even 3G This is a kick in the teeth!
I seriously don't like 16GB even on a old generation iPhone!

I can't relate to all the hate for just making a cheaper 16gb version available?!?

If you want more get more. I've always gotten the max storage. 16gb is available to those who are cool with streaming, iCloud etc. and have good wifi at home and work.
You don;t see it do you?
It’s a fantastic margin on a skinny flash chip + Use of their streaming/cloud services. This squeezes money out of you twice.

The price difference for Apple between 16 GB and 32 GB is so small that this excuse really doesn't apply anymore. The 16 GB on the base model is there to force people to upgrade and spend the extra when they otherwise wouldn't with 32 GB.

I include myself in that, because I would be fine with a 32 GB base model, but 16 GB is not enough.
Tis' the season for part leaks!
My favorite time of year :)

People that can afford 4k TVs to play back such videos can probably afford a phone with more memory. For the 99.9% of those who don't have a 4K TV, or the necessity to store a large amount of data, 16GB is perfect.

And yes, Apple is a for-profit business, not a charity for privileged prima donnas who feel they're entitled to everything for free.

While a 16GB entry-level is really weird and sucks for many, it won't make a difference to me because 64GB is what I have always gotten.
