Apple's iPhone 6s Plus includes a 2750 mAh battery, according to images shared by Taiwanese site AppleClub [Google Translate]. That means the battery in the iPhone 6s Plus is smaller than the 2915 mAh battery found in the existing iPhone 6 Plus.

We've already learned the iPhone 6s has a smaller 1715 mAh battery because it was spotted in a video Apple created to highlight 3D Touch, but there's been no visual confirmation on the iPhone 6s Plus battery until now.

Ahead of the debut of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, rumors suggested both devices would have smaller batteries, which turned out to be accurate. It appears Apple may have adopted smaller batteries in the new iPhones in order to make room for new internal parts like a dedicated Taptic Engine that enables haptic feedback whenever 3D Touch is used.

Though the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have smaller batteries, overall battery life has not been impacted due to optimizations in the A9 processor in the devices and software improvements. Both devices continue to offer the same battery life as the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will launch this Friday, September 25. Pre-order customers will begin receiving their devices at that time, and Apple retail stores in first wave launch countries will begin selling the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus at that time.

If Apple kept the battery size while increasing the thickness a bit (to the point of eliminating the camera lens bulge perhaps), people would react: Apple is greedy! They are making people buy a new case! If the new iPhones have the same real life battery life, Apple probably made the right decision.

Having said that, I would like to see long battery life on iPhone 7.

I wonder if people would be more inclined to spend an extra $100 for battery improvements instead of storage bumps?

For example, the base model iPhone could come with 32/64GB but the standard battery. For $100 more, you get 64GB but a battery that lasts twice as long. Not sure how that would work out but it's an idea.

I take my iphone (currently 6) off the dock it sits on next to my bed at 6am every morning (maybe a little later on the weekends). I put it back in the dock about 10pm. As long and recharging is not needed when the phone is not in the dock, I am okay with whatever the battery size is. If they force me to charge midday, then sir, we have a problem.

Because who could imagine making the phone a whole millimeter thicker to eliminate the protruding camera and actually increase battery life?
No way. I don't want my phone getting thicker but thinner.
Battery life is great already and I use mine like the whole day for everything.
I need a maximum thin device in my jacket.

Personally I'd rather have thinner and lighter. I have an M8 which is bigger all around and heavier and it makes a big difference in everyday use... I especially hate how heavy it feels in my slacks and shorts.

I would be very interested to see a battery drain test between iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S on iOS 9.

I smell something fishy with battery life claims by Apple, because it's not clear if iOS 9 is the reason why iPhone 6S matches iPhone 6 battery life, or will they both have the same battery life with iOS 9.

At the end of the day these devices do need to get charged....I really appreciate the low power mode on both iOS 9 and the watchOS 1....I use that ALL the time...and it is honestly really good at what it does.
