While I will wait and see what independent reviewers say, I believe it was a real mistake for Apple to shrink the battery and opt for zero advancement in battery life.

My S6 usually throws down about 4.5-5 hours of screen time, and recharges like a maniac for a fast top off mid-day.

If Apple kept the battery size while increasing the thickness a bit (to the point of eliminating the camera lens bulge perhaps), people would react: Apple is greedy! They are making people buy a new case! If the new iPhones have the same real life battery life, Apple probably made the right decision.

Having said that, I would like to see long battery life on iPhone 7.
Being an S model, that's expected.
But I'd like to have a bigger battery on the iPhone 7
The also changed the dimensions. The S is thicker and heavier.

Well, thicker .... 0.1 mm ???

The Xiaomi is almost 2 mm thicker...
...And it's 3000 mAh battery keeps on going.

Actually it's closer to 1mm thicker, since iPhone has that protruding camera. Even Apple themselves are ashamed of it and photoshop it away. So it's a desing flaw. Make it flush and put bigger battery, problem solved. Then it even sits nicely on table. ;)

I have a Mophie case on my 5S that charges it to 100% from 0% ... but I don't want to get one of those for the 6S ... would just make the phone ridiculously huge. Will probably get an external battery for emergencies or whatever.

Yeah, plus the added weight is horrible. Even with my iPhone 6 with Apple case, when I took it off I couldn't believe how much thickness it adds.

I would like to carry a bare phone, but I have dropped mine at least a dozen times over the 10 months of ownership already. The case has protected it each time.

That's because the 6 also has a poor battery life in the standard model. It wasn't always like this, I remember back in the days I was using 3GS and 4 how the iPhone battery life was superior to that of Androids and there were no issues with making it through the day. I have an iPhone 6 and I can't recall the last time I would've made it through the day on one charge.
YOu memory is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. All testing proves you wrong about older Apple phones VS new ones, and even current Apple phones VS the competition. Google a bit and see how much your, well you know... WRONG.

What would that help? You really think my iPhone 6 gains some extra battery if I read a test (often done in a different environment compared to mine) that says it cannot be empty by the afternoon? Of course some of the relative weakness of the battery is due to increased amount of usage and connected devices since the 3GS/4 days, but that just indicates that maybe Apple is giving priority to wrong features (thinness) while ignoring weak spots in their products. iOS has good power management compared to Android (at least until Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the Doze feature arrives), so if only Apple gave us a battery with some decent capacity, it would blow out the competition. Now they're negating their advantages by using unnecessarily small batteries in the non-Plus models.

I would rather has a little thicker phone with a bigger, better battery so I could use my phone without always having to worry about running out of power. People are always putting the phone in a case anyways because it is too thin. I have a 5S and I can't even hold onto mine without a case. So if they put a bigger battery in it and it was a little thicker than people wouldn't need to put it in a case. Then that would solve the problem with so many people complaining about poor battery performance.

Has anyone installed 6 plus or 7 plus battery in 6s plus and has been using for awhile with no problems?
