The real question is will it blend?
Everything could bend or break.

So why did Apple strengthen the 6S? For lols?
Marketing.
Even if it wasn't a real issue. Even if it was exaggerated on purpose by competitors, it has a (ridiculous) impact on public opinion.
So Apple addressed it.
Maybe bending wasn't an issue for some one you but it surely was for me. My 6+ was definitely bent. I went to the Apple Store to get a replacement for an unrelated issue and they wouldn't because it was bent, go figure.. So how was it not an issue?
You bent your phone. What's your point ?

My point is that it bent in my pocket without me applying a lot of pressure so it was an issue, obviously.

It really was not a problem but it got so much press that Apple needed to appear to do something. This is a way to "fix" the "problem" without appearing defensive. Apple was going to use the new aluminum at some point (6s or 7) so they weren't really responding to the much ado about nothing but people will think they did.

The iPhone 6 was no more bendable than other flagship smartphones (some were less bendable and some were more) but it's Apple so people will complain about anything they can.

What the new body means though is that the iPhone 6s is far less bendable than all or most other flagship smartphones.
Absolutely correct!
Is that the same thing that happened with the antenna on the iPhone 4? Apple denied that one too...
And I used my iPhone 4 for 13 months without a single problem receiving of making phone calls....
Like millions of other users that are still using the iPhone 4 today ....
Good job Apple!! Seriously. I am very happy they have taken phone durability seriously for this (and hopefully) future phones! It is a very important part of my phone buying decision (which is why I have rocked the 5S until now).

People can say want they want, iPhone 6 was not durable enough. The vast majority didn't bend, I understand that. But for a premium expensive phone, why wouldn't you want it as durable as possible?
Any improvements are welcomed, for sure.

You actually don't know how much pressure you put on it....
I'm taking my iPhone in my pockets since the beginning.

The original 6 and Plus remained intact functional after higher pressure was applied, far better then competing phones, which would also bend, but additionally cracked or bricked.

Now that the iPhone is even stronger, I wonder how the competition stacks up.

(Funny how a phrase like "people began to notice bending in their pockets" can refer to somewhere between 1 and 2 people... and then a year went by and there was no great rash of such complaints. Almost as though the device never WAS particularly weak compared to everything else...)

The truth is Apple sells a "premium" product at premium prices but that's mostly marketing. They have to be shamed into delivering a quality product commensurate with the price.

A more rigid phone is a better phone and Apple was caught out using the cheapest aluminium but has now fixed it.

Thanks for the bend test 2 on the iPhone 6s+. It was interesting to watch the first part of your video. I think that repeating it with your buddy is not something that i would consider impressive as any person applying that much force would be utter mad. But hey if you have morons that put any phone in your back pocket is ludicrous. Keep up the good work.... GO THE ALL BLACKS

That Apple used the "cheapest aluminum " is your invention...

I think it's kinda ridiculous that people say there was no weakness problem. There clearly was a weak point between the volume buttons and power button. Just because 80% of people never over stressed the phone doesn't change that. I wouldn't want a phone that was just barely strong enough because that leaves no room for accidents like bumping into a table/chair/door or someone running into you etc. My dad flew a Cessna 411 for 9 years and that was an airplane with a notoriously poor record because the tail was too small to keep the airplane straight at low speeds. It obviously had a flaw but my dad made sure to keep it well away from the limits so he never had a problem. My dad could have said it was a great plane because he never had a problem o_O I for one am really glad Apple fixed a weak point.

This makes me laugh just like watching the Mac vs PC ad's Apple ran.

I think the fact it took two people to try and bend, but he was never used a machine to help him bend it proves its MORE bendable, not less.

If two humans could do it (not even really bulky type guys), where does that leave u with a machine ?

No it's not. 7000 series is much more expensive than 6000 series. I can buy pounds of 6000 series aluminium on Amazon dirt cheap with free delivery. Google the relative prices and see, or just ask anyone who knows industrial metals.

FOR THE LAST TIME THE 6+ NEVER BENT IN USERS POCKETS! what a scam. my 6+ is perfect to this day and has been in plenty of tight pants leaning against things, sat on, etc

Well if you're going to be pedantic: it's the cheapest usable aluminium when you're machining. I guess you're saying they didn't use recycled aluminium cooking foil or something. Yes, that is true.

I'm not pedantic. You tried to downplay iPhone 6 quality speaking of cheapest aluminum. It's not.
iPhone 6 is a quality premium product

I wouldn't say they deserved it, but they definitely provoked it. It's nothing that just happens to anyone, it happens to people who can't take care of their stuff properly. When you apply enough pressure to your phone to bend it, you can feel that. If you choose to ignore that because you are somehow not informed that some things just break at some point, than that should probably not be surprising. It's just hard for me to understand this kind of ignorance. Especially when I have new stuff I'm overly cautious with it. Just looking at those videos of people trying to bend they brand new phones causes me physical pain. You should never expect to be able to do things like that to your phone. It's just weird as hell to me that some people apparently do.

Yes - you are right - provoked is the word to use, not deserved. Thank you for saying so, made me think and fully appreciate the difference. This was actually what I meant to convey. Thank you again.

I can imagine idiots going into the stores to try to bend it...

I'm keeping my iPhone 6 in my pockets since the day I bought it.
I'm just avoiding to sit on it.

The issue was exaggerated on purpose...

Or maybe it was slightly defective since the beginning but you didn't notice that.

No, it wasn't.

When I first received my phone I read the reviews/saw the videos of "bendgate." I did my same 'test' and it was flush against the surface.

Like I said, it's not bad enough to complain or take it back. No need to attack everyone that did experience this issue.
