People seriously think Apple is going to redesign the 's' version of the iPhone. They've never done it before, don't expect them to do it now. And obviously with selling as many phones as they can make most people don't really give a crap about the tiny camera bulge or antenna bands.

Apple redesigned the antenna breaks with the iPhone 4S #antennagate. I don't see why they can't redesign those lines on the back case with the 6. They redesigned the flash of the 5 with dual flash on the 5S. Obviously, the form factor of the 6S will still be the same. Technology is getting better and Apple is going slimmer so I'm pretty sure they got something under their sleeves for the protruding lens. Apple is known for their design and it looks like they did a good (not best) job with the 6. I mean, if you're gonna do something, do it right. That's just my opinion.

No camera upgrade - what else can they do, to make the s version any different then the 2014 model?

another 0.01 mm thinner that will not matter cuz people throw a case on it that's like 3 times the size of the phone anyway instead of adding more battery juice. 2GB of ram, 32/64gb base model cuz FU, improved A9 chip and a stand alone iCloud Drive app cuz no one likes their crap they call a cloud. also some chip or whatever to make it work amazingly well with the Apple watch. wow I sound like a hater while sending it from my iPhone 6 lolol

Im going with quad core CPU + 2GB ram. Doubling the cores and memory can be sold as a huge boast.

I've never understood that argument. Phone + case = overall size.

The thinner the phone the thinner it is overall. I used the exact same case on my iPad Air 2 as I'd used on the iPad Air, and the difference was noticeable with the case on.

People who also take pictures with an iphone have no need to Crop.

You're right. That's obviously why Apple doesn't include a crop tool in the iOS photo editor.

----------

Someone please explain to me why they think the iPhone needs more megapixels.

Seriously, take a look at this chart and tell me what you are missing:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/FrameWork/charts/resolutionChartPopup.html

That depends on the pixel density. The 5K iMac is....5K, which is 5120-by-2880, which is 14.7 MP. The Given the iPhone's Camera's 4:3 (or 3:4), you'd need a 19.7 MP 4:3 photo to crop to 16:9 to use as the background on a 5k iMac without stretching it. A 4K monitor would need a 11.1 MP 4:3 photo to crop to 16:9. That still doesn't give you any room to zoom/crop. 8MP simply isn't what it used to be.

.

Other phones with a higher megapixel count do take better pictures than the 8MP iPhone 6. I'm not saying it's all down to MP but they do play a part in it all.

That said, to have files that are 2-4x the size for pictures that are roughly 10% "better" just isn't worth it IMO.

I too wished the iPhone had 50MP, cause when taking that selfie, id love to zoom in the background and get an excellent crop of the seagull flying...!

For everyone else the current 8MP is fine to crop the image and put themeless in the centre....... And that is why Apple offers a cropping function.

For people like you who want to substitute optical zoom with the ability to crop high MP images, your using the wrong tool to take pictures.

we all know that Apple isn't making the sensor...so why can't they pick up a 13mp sony sensor and make it work? I bet if they did, it would be one more reason not to go android. It's getting a little tiring always being one step behind even if it is executed brilliantly..although the 6/6+ lens sticking out is huge disappointment.

Why? Who wants 13mp? What benefit is their to people who take normal photographs? NONE! 8 is plenty. Leave all that alone and work on sensors, lens quality, and low-light performance.

Fine by me.

Just improve the sensor and switch back to the old processing algorithm that doesn't over do the noise reduction.

?? umm 17 1/2 years..Really?

Please enlighten us on specifics. Especially how the tech that is 17 + years behind.

For years, I've heard the claim that Apple holds back technology so they can get people (I assume that the people making this claim think that they are smart enough to see through it, but their friends, family, and the rest of the world are not) to buy the next version when it comes out.

I don't think any company that wants to stay competitive really does this. There are usually reasons behind any decision not to include the hottest new tech in your latest device. Often the reason can be guessed. After Apple released the iPhone 5S with TouchID, they released an iPad without the feature. It seems like a no-brainer to put the tech on the iPad, so why didn't they. My guess is that the TouchID hardware was in short supply, and they needed every one they could get for the iPhone 5S, which was still selling as fast as they could make it.

The conspiracy theory is not plausible. If it were true that Apple kept tech back just to lure their own customers into buying later, they'd be at least 17 and a half years behind the competition by now.

I'm guessing someone forgot their sarcasm tag?
It's more fun without the sarcasm tag.

How funny it sounds that people go to Android phones for camera MP? Lol. Good, Apple don't give the crap to those anyway. For god sake, if people think camera is the most important thing, get a SLR. Camera in a phone is for convenience, not replace the traditional camera since the quality is far from it. Please.

Buy or not to buy...

Hello everyone!

I know it is a little off-topic question, but somehow it belongs here I think.

Should I buy the iPhone 6 Plus now, or should I wait until Apple announces the iPhone 6s Plus?

If you can wait 6 months, then wait for the 6S. If not, buy a 6 now.

Primary reason why Apple doesn't upgrade camera…

Apple doesn't want to upgrade the camera's megapixel count is because it would require the working RAM to go from 1GB to 2GB (especially to capture high res video). That would make the parts more expensive and lower their profit margin. Plain and simple.

There's a very big reason this is an enormous pain in the ass if Apple sticks with 8 megapixels.

You can't take 4k video with 8 megapixels

4k = 3840 x 2160
8 megapixels = 3264 x 2448

4k has more pixels than 8mpix, and the aspect ratio is different. This is why iPhones still don't have 4k recording, which might have been fine a year ago, but not 2+ years after the first 4k video-recording smartphone was launched (~Note 3 era)

6S will have 2GB RAM, I can pretty much guarantee that.

Just wait for the 6s Plus. I love my 6 Plus, but you might as well wait the 7 months for the 6s Plus, since it will obviously be better than the 6 Plus.

And yet the Lumia 920 captures 8.7mp with a single GB of RAM. Nokia must have been magical with that one.

And then people can record 4k to say they record 4k. Not like most people even have a TV that can watch it, but bigger numbers are better...

I'd love to see a small boost up to about 12 MP, and small improvements to the camera (such as OIS on the smaller 6) I'd be happy with it. Along with 2 GB of RAM, a 3-core processor, a better front facing camera, and an even better Touch ID

its always nice to record and take your photos in a quality that is much higher than distribution, thus allowing more leeway in regards to quality.

Recording at 4k allows for Cropping down to 1080p without quality loss. this is just an example.

As for 8mpx? for your standard photos on a smartphone, you really don't need more. however, when people are starting to offer 4k video recording, Apple might want to update the sensor to one with more pixels just to be able to do 4k video.
