Average people defending big corporation's profits are just silly in this forum. Profit margin is incredibly high on iPhones. This is why Apple has billions in cash and does not know what to do with it. The prices go up not because of consumers' returns or exchanges but because of stock investors demanding higher and higher profits.

Simply if you don't want to live with the scratch, just return it and buy another one. Problem solved. And make sure you check every inch of the screen to make sure they are scratch free before you walk out. I have had instances where I walked out the store and later to find scratches on the screen, which annoyed the crap out of me. I ended up exchanging it (6+).

Yep, have just started the return process on the store.

Usually scratches don't really bother me, but this one distorted the colours slightly when the screen was on, so it was pretty distracting.

It's people like this that screw the rest of us. High prices and bad return policies because people suck

How is this affecting you in the slightest ?

Also returning because I find the dark edges on the left and right sides of the the screen annoying , especially given all my other iPhones didnt have this.

Usually I'd put up with these things, but all these together make it worth me returning.

Any screen with an oleophobic coating is going to scratch. Putting a screen protector on it will give you ample protection. Some of The glass screen savers they came out with are worth the money as they are almost invisible

Returning a phone with light scratches isn't fraud folks. It's questionable in nature but you're not committing fraud.

I have read of a person who claimed he got "easy" scratches on his 6s plus and had the 6 plus for s full year without a scratch. So maybe there is some oleo phobic costing defect possible? Don't really know.

Either way, I'd be honest about it. Apple is usually pretty helpful IME.

Exactly this. It's unethical because the OP would have to lie about why he's returning the phone, but it's not fraud. The genius can inspect the phone and tell him to kick rocks.

Why not just be honest like the guy above suggests? I'm betting they take the phone and either replace the screen or give the OP a new one.

Has the coating changed on the S ? Because all the other iPhones I've had haven't had this problem.

The 6 was the same thing, a scratch magnet for micro scratches in the coating. Its the same. I never had an issue on previous phones, think the screen real estate probably made it more noticeable.

Yep that was me. But something is really wrong with my 6s Plus since even using a microfiber cloth on my 6s Plus is causing many, many more scratches. That doesn't make any sense when I can scrub the living heck out of my 6 Plus screen with the same cloth and that screen is perfecto.

Fraud, however, is very different.. However, in this case, the OP might be experiencing the same issues I have. Difficult to say, of course.

You guys are a funny bunch, this suggestion of fraud is hilarious.

I don't have to give any real reason for returning other than I'm in satisfied (which I am) so I'm not lying about anything.

It's totally up to Apple if they accept the return based on the condition of the phone. It's not like I've replaced the guts with an iPhone 3GS or something.

I wouldn't be able to sleep at all at night if I did what you are about to do but I am going to move on have fun with the fraud thing :)

It's morally ugly considering you had to come on a forum to ask advice. If you were unhappy why bother asking opinions on here...just return it honestly and say why,

But don't buy another iPhone.....you'll be just as unhappy with it. Move on.
