JoD doesn't have a monthly fee.

It looks like it doesn't! So the $15/mo fee used in the above math was wrong. T-Mobile's JoD really is the cheapest way to get the iPhone.

And there is no 18 month constraint (as I implied above) -- you can trade in for a new phone a year later (or more often). The 18 month is just the principal pay off period.

So T-Mobile's JoD is the cheapest and allows you to upgrade to a 7.

The only annoyance is you have to call or go into a store to sign up... I wonder when their phones will be open for orders.

In Chicago T-Mobile actually has an even bigger problem than the TV station... Band 12 there is owned by AT&T, which they got by virtue of the Cricket acquisition. No way will the Deathstar sell that license to T-Mobile (unless maybe if it was part of a bigger spectrum swap deal).

As for Phoenix, see below:

Band 12 in Hampton Roads (and Phoenix, Vegas, San Diego, New Orleans, etc.) is being held by a spectrum speculator that wants too much $$ than T-Mobile is willing to pay for. It was originally owned by Cox which planned to build its own wireless network but eventually gave up on that idea. When they decided not to build the network they sold the spectrum to Columbia Capital (aka "AB License").

As for the TV stations, pretty much everywhere where T-Mobile owned a band 12 license which was encumbered by a TV station (not all areas had TV stations parked on that band) they were able to reach an agreement with that station to move them to a different TV channel. In areas where they didn't own licenses (Phoenix, Chicago, etc.) they obviously didn't try to do that since they didn't own the band 12 license for that area.

Good info. Man I hate cox too.

I just called and they said you can do the signup for the jump on demand online during the preorder. I guess we will see tho haha.

There are two programs. Jump is $10/month, like another poster indicated. What is being discussed is Jump On Demand, which starts at $15/month, each phone is a different price. They are lowering the iPhone price for a limited time for the 6s. And each of these plans have different features. There is a comparison page on their website that explains it. Actually, they have a THIRD program called Start or something.
So, with T-Mobile it's $35/month and upgradable after 18 months; with Apple's new program it's $33/month and upgradable after one year.

Am I missing something or does Apple's upgrade program not sound better?

Ok, I have to check into this!!

Sorry, I was WRONG, not afraid to admit it, it's just that, when I switched to T-mo last year they wanted to sign me up for JUMP!, which may have actually been $10. The JUMP! On Demand is new and done differently.

Sorry for leading others astray with my $15 + $20 /mo. =$35 math. I guess this is bogus.

cheers :)

You essentially called everyone on AT&T stupid without knowing every customers reasons for being on AT&T

I for 1 am with AT&T for several reasons:

The value I get ( yes I get decent pricing)

Loyalty

High customer satisfaction ( in my own , family and friends experiences )

Great coverage

Pretty good customer service

Flexibility

AT&T has supported some charities and good causes I support

Yeah but how much are you paid by AT&T?

This is actually really good news for Tmobile. I'm assuming that they actually implemented the MIMO antennas on their towers they were talking about in the past. If that's the case and what iphone6s brings to the table actually works as expected for Tmobile this will be pretty nice or at least make a huge different for all the crappy service or no service Tmobile has indoors, etc. Maybe I will test the out again. The last 2-3 times I tried Tmobile their overall coverage totally sucked in a major metropolitan area. Maybe this will be a game changer. For now AT&T is still hard to beat overall (coverage, cost, etc).

This is exactly what my brother is doing. He still has his unlimited data from AT&T, both from the original iPhone and iPad, which is the only reason he is still with AT&T. I had the same but switched to T-Mobile 2 years ago and haven't looked back. The bonus of the phone not being locked if financed through Apple was the thing that made the decision easy for him. We both do some international travel and having a locked phone has always been infuriating.

No kidding. I moved to Taipei for a year and they would not unlock my wife iPhone, had to buy a ****** android while we were there. Still pissed at ATT over that. I was going to just go ahead and pay the ETF vs paying for a full service contract for a year but they talked me out of it by saying I could put it on hold for only 20.00 per month (both lines)... Sounds good, phone stays locked but its better than paying 2 ETF fees.

3 months later.. we changed our policy, sorry. Now I have to pay 100.00 per month, for 8 months, can't port the number anywhere because I am not in the country to reply to confirmation texts.

I can't wait to leave ATT

We were grandfathered into the unlimited AT&T plan from the original 2007 iPhone up until last year when we took our 4 lines to TMO. Got on the $100 for 4 lines deal and have been happy. The plans allow free data roaming and we used it all over Europe and the Caribbean earlier this year. Slow 3g but the data worked and there was no additional cost.

Looked it up again. The third program is called Score!, it is $5/month and has delayed upgrade options. JoD is probably the best of these three plans for most people.

Should be mad at yourself for buying an entire phone rather than paying an unlocking service 50 bucks and being done with it...

Anyone else notice the monthly cost for the larger memory size iPhones are cheaper? I thought it was weird, but it turns out your final payment for 128gb 6s is $200 vs $164. It still works out the same way because you save $2 per month for 18 months making up the $36 difference.

Yeah but how much are you paid by AT&T?

If you're implying I work for them in any way shape or form I don't and as such am paid nothing by AT&T

As I already said its a preference and I'm pretty satisfied with AT&T and the value I'm getting at present

( 30 GB For the price of 10 with Rollover plus built in included international talk/talk )

Okay, you have a generic name "iOSFangirl6001", it contains de facto the word "fangirl", suggesting you're somehow a young fangirl yet you just pull out a lawyer phrase with carefully selected word to say that "you are paid nothing by AT&T".

So of course you mean you work for PR/CM agency that works for AT&T.

Don't judge a book by its cover or a person based solely on third name.

Allow me to further clarify since you're not getting it

I'm am not employed by or paid by AT&T , ANY PR/CM/Advertising agency , ANY Affiliated agency or entity of the aforementioned, any subsidiary of the afformentioned or any focus groups or survey panels relating to such

Ever heard of being an interested/educated consumer who prefers 1 company over another in part due to the experiences they and persons they know have had?

How To Calculate Payoff Amount After 18 Months
(Full Retail Price - $ Down) - (Regular JOD Monthly Price x 18)

Therefore:
6s 16GB: ($649.99 - $0) - ($27 x 18) = $163.99
6s 64GB:
($749.99 - $99.99) - ($26 x 18) = $182
6s 128GB:
($849.99 - $199.99) - ($25 x 18) = $200
6s+ 16GB:
($749.99 - $0) - ($31 x 18) = $191.99
6s+ 64GB:
($849.99 - $99.99) - ($30 x 18) = $210
6s+ 128GB:
($949.99 - $199.99) - ($29 x 18) = $228

I can't believe none of the heathens on this site has even given you the single thumbs up yet.

You answered a HUGE question with an obvious answer that nobody else has thought of.

You are awesome! Thank you!

Unfortunately the dots on that coverage map are deceptive. The use low resolution and JPEG it so you think it looks almost all covered but in reality there is a tremendous amount of white uncovered area on these sorts of maps out in the rural areas. Or maybe that's good. It's a feature, right, no disruptive cell coverage... It's a feature, it's a feature...

you zoom the map by entering a street address and it will give you the speeds that customers have in your area.

I'm dancing with the idea of jumping from AT&T to T-Mobile. I live in Connecticut. Back when LTE was unheard of and 3G was where it was at T-Mobile worked fine in the city I was I living in. Over the years I've been with all the carriers and I'm smart enough to know that AT&T and Verizon are the biggest carriers and offer the most reliable coverage-at a price of course. I'm now with AT&T and I can say coverage is fine. Customer care has been fine. I do admire John Legere and T-Mobile and the Uncarrier initiatives in place. For my personal situation I went through a divorce which hurt my credit significantly. That being said AT&T made me pay out the ying yang a $750 security deposit just to get 1 line. It was that bad. I also keep seeing things on the news about AT&T being rude to their customers and mistreating them and I don't necessarily like that. Now having their home internet, an iPhone on their Next Plan, and a GoPhone for my mother basic phone needs and never being late in fact paying ahead they are refusing after a long period of time to give me another line without another $750 deposit. I threatened to leave and they were basically like see ya don't the let the door hit your you know what on the way out. They have this sense of entitlement like they are the best and everyone needs them and they charge so much money for everything. That being said-I want s family plan. T-Mobile approved me for 5 lines no deposit and a plan for 4 lines with 10 GB Each line with Data Stash and that's $160. I'm paying $140 for AT&T for 1 line. If you factor in my mom's prepaid line GoPhone with AT&T that's $180 sometimes for 1 postpaid and 1 prepaid(with a crappier footprint of coverage) when I can get 4 smartphones on Jump! with T-Mobile for $160-of course it will be more with the phones being financed but that's fine. Now it sounds good on paper but my question is if I get devices that use Band 12-and I live in a city, will the cost and additional lines outweigh the benefits or am I better hanging on to my AT&T? If you don't live in CT that's ok I just want some insight on what some of you think. Thank you.

If the finances make sense for you, then go for it. But, not without getting a prepaid SIM to try for a few weeks (since T-Mobile doesn't offer the 7-day test drive anymore).

I have strong LTE most of the time, and for what I need it and when I use it it's great. The pricing options are phenomenal, and the perks you get like those you mentioned are great.

But if you're traveling, T-Mobile is awful. So it really depends on how much you use cellular, and how much you rely on good service. Even with the extended range coverage, service will still be inferior to other carriers.

Because now it's 30 days?

Now they are offering a lifetime coverage guarantee. As I understand it, trade in one device, they'll sign you up for a new phone of your choice with jump on demand (so you'll pay for it over the next two years, with option to replace it twice a year). If you're not happy within 30 days, go in to store, return device, and get a full refund of device and plan charges. After 30 days, you can call any month to cancel, they unlock the phone, but leave it on your finance plan, and refund your service charges for that month. Then you can change it to service on another carrier.

I have T-Mo and I'm just being honest.

4G and EDGE when traveling isn't exactly fun (or even useful).

If it's the case where you travel, then of course. All about location.

I've found everything to be relatively great. Went from Jacksonville, FL to Charlotte, NC last weekend. 850~ mile round trip. Had LTE 95% of the time, EDGE 3%, 4G 2%. YMMV.
