All I know is that next time AT&T wants me to pay my bill I'm going to update them with a link to a site that says Status: "Preparing to Pay".

Payment Date(s): 10-23 to 10-30

Note: Expect me to pay you on the dates I gave.
Thanks for the chuckle. That was quite funny.

everyone's but mine :(

To simply trade in a device for credit doesn't mean you're getting into a new financial installment plan (if I understand what you're saying).

For example, my wife and I had our iPhone 6 Pluses paid off as of last month. We are therefore month-to-month regarding any financial obligations. We are also not trading in our phones for the 7 Pluses I've preordered. Instead, we'll initiate a new installment plan at device activation. At 12 months, we'll then trade in our 7 Pluses for the next phone in 2017, which then would begin a new installment plan.
The way I understand the deal is that AT&T gives a monthly credit equal to 1/30 of the cost of an iPhone 7 32gb. So my assumption is that if you want to own your phone outright without paying anything out of pocket you are obligated to stay with AT&T for 30 months. Is that correct? Can I upgrade my phone at 24 months? I assume that after month 30 I will either own my phone if I don't upgrade or start paying a monthly fee on a new phone. Correct?

I preordered a 7+ 128 matte Black and 7+ 128 Silver. I love my Silver :) With my first preorder I ordered a black and a silver 6+ and was given a ship date in the middle of October but received them on launch day so I, too, am hoping that's the case again this time.

I really hope so too!! I want everyone to be happy campers with new phones this weekend!! Good luck to you!

I ordered a Matte Black 128gb with a ship date of Sept 16th, still "preparing to ship." Not sure whats going on.

I found this internal ATT memo online for their iPhone 7 launch protocol! Check it out!

ATT iPhone 7 fulfillment protocol for a happy customer on launch day:

Stage 1: estimated Arrival dates - (note to employees - Estimate these dates at least 2 weeks out so the customer is not expecting a launch day phone no matter how early they order).

Stage 2 - Processing (note to employees - please draw this stage out until the very last possible shipping day so our customers have no idea what's going on increasing their anticipation and anxiety. This makes them want the phone even more).

Stage 3 - Backordered (note to employees - at this point customers will give up any hope they will get a phone on launch day).

Stage 4 - Shipping & Tracking - (note to employees - Ship phone to customer at the last possible second so that they get their iPhone on launch day).

Congrats! We have now under promised and over delivered giving our customers a great launch day experience!!
If real I don't know whether to laugh or cry or if I want to strangle ATT's top executives.

Haaaaaaa!!!

It is just still blowing my mind that people with later ship dates are still getting tracking information earlier than people with deliver dates of the 16th

Could it be possible that at&t just didn't get any black or jet black 7 pluses in storage higher capacity?

I would doubt that. I believe (could be wrong) that AT&T is the largest carrier seller of the iPhone, and Apple's original exclusive partner. They sell too many phones and have had too long a business partnership for Apple to not include at least some stock in every model to AT&T (I'm sure VZW gets similar treatment from Apple).

So what could the reason be for everyone who ordered early have this 9/23-9/30 window with no updates?

From what I heard from my work (since we buy so many MacBook Pros from them, and they're giving us special access to buy a phone on Friday), the Piano Black won't be available until November? but that sounded kind of weird, but I dunno...

I didn't order one as a preorder as I didn't want an ATT phone that I would pay FULL PRICE for and not even be able to leave and use it on Sprint or Verizon.

Why pay full price for a phone that doesn't even have the capability to work on other networks in the United States.

Hmm ok? Pointless post.

I believe Apple prioritizes the models they think will sell the most, and has those built first. It seems they knew the 32gb iPhone 7 was going to be in high demand with the "free iPhone 7" promotions from the carriers, and I'd bet those were the first out of the factory. Also, the Pluses, especially in the new colors, take longer to produce. If you watched the keynote, perhaps you saw Jonny Ive's video about the process for the Jet Black color. That alone is extremely time consuming. Hopefully the UPS planes coming into Dallas from Louisville tonight and tomorrow morning will have more of the Plus stock. It would make sense.

Out of curiosity how did you track? The first picture looks completely different from what I see.

I checked my status by using my phone number and zip code

Well I hope we see some movement on black or jet blacks today. I changed my schedule to be available for delivery on launch day.
