that spam text may not mean anything if you got it, but i think it means something if you DIDN'T get it... my wife received it (her phone was delivered on 9/16) and i did not. No change on my MB 7+ 256 ordered at 12:18am PST - Louisiana.
Unfortunately, I think you are right. I just don't understand what the heck is going on!
 
Many people are complaining about their AT&T preorder and threatening to cancel, but as far as I can tell the majority of people's phones are shipping earlier than the dates AT&T gave them when they placed their order. So what is the problem?
I haven't and am not thinking about canceling but I do understand why some are so upset. Mainly bc they stayed up half the night to preorder the phone and got the orders in within minutes ... and somehow ppl who ordered hours later are getting their phones first even when having the same model/gb and color. Makes no sense.
 
So can anyone confirm that a Apple Store will allow you to pay outright for the phone when reserving it on the site through the upgrade program? I was able to reserve a 7+ Silver 128 at the Apple Store here in Charlotte NC.
 
Finally saw some movement last night...

Ordered 9/9 4:30am EDT
Finally went to back ordered around 5pm last night 9/20
Text notification it shipped around 11:30pm 9/20
Should arrive tomorrow 9/22

Seems if they would have stuck to the normal 2 week window a lot more people who have received their phones on launch day.

I got the Spigen Thin Fit case and put it on a friends 6S Plus. I don't like it at all. Looks like my locals stores have the leather Apple cases in stock now so I guess I will make a trek to the store to pick one up. I ordered one online but it may not ship until the 28th.

Ok, I'm sure this is my frustration talking, but why are people asking about their orders when they ordered AFTER launch day??
We don't expect to get our phones before the ones that preordered. But it's nice to know where the que is and I haven't heard anyone talking about shipping on the rose gold phones.
 
You have to learn to speak AT&T:

"Preparing to Ship" or "In Progress" means "Back ordered"
"Back Ordered" means "Preparing to Ship" (tracking within 24 hours)


To clarify this, as I know someone who is very well "in the know" at ATT and not just some store employee, the meanings are as such:

"Preparing to ship" or "in progress" (FOR A NORMAL ORDER) means that you have placed the order and it is process of being pulled from inventory and shipped out.

"Preparing to ship" or "in progress" (FOR A PREORDER EVENT) means you have submitted your order, it's been authorized/pre-authorized and now is sitting in a queue.

"Back ordered" (FOR A NORMAL ORDER) means the item is out of stock but you have been assigned the item from an incoming supply of the item.

"Back ordered" (FOR A PREORDER EVENT) means very much the same thing as above and YES it means your item will ship soon. You have now moved from that limbo status after initially placing your order, to now being assigned to an actual delivery/supply of devices. For pre-orders, that typically means when a fresh supply of devices lands in distribution center and now they have some "backorder inventory". So your order is assigned to be picked from that inventory. It then rapidly ships out. The reason this is different than a normal "back order" status which is assigned right away is that pre-order events are always variable and inventory/supply levels will not be known at time of order. They are driven after the preorder starts. So this is how the "back order" works for preorder events.


It makes perfect sense.

That's my emotion as well. People are expecting these systems to work to the minute when millions of people are ordering at the same time. They also expect perfect first in, first out supply chain movement. It simply doesn't work like that. We're not talking about weeks difference in shipping times either, maybe a day or two.

It all comes down to people being impatient. I order on 9/14 so I fully expect it to take a while but at the same time I probably will see the phone before 10/19. I'm not in a rush because I have a perfectly functional phone right now.

i don't want to burst your bubble but there is no que. the good news past expereicne says you will most likely receive your phone before many of the pre-orders. Enjoy!

What in the world. I have been living on the Apple Store app and haven't seen any +s in either NorthLake or SouthPark. Congrats tho.

still no updates for me since 9/9... not even spam... not on "backorder"
Same as a lot of other Georgians I've seen on here... just waiting / in progress/ processing/ preparing to ship

My boyfriends mb 256 plus he ordered from apple on 9/16 will be here tomorrow...
 
Hey guys, I've been following this forum since day one, and it has been so helpful. I ordered BM 7+ 128 on 9/9 at 340 Eastern (had issues with my CC blocking for fraud). Sometime overnight my status changed to backordered through *6737# (noticed it at 530) still says preparing to ship though I know backordered is a good thing thanks to this site, or I would have freaked out probably. But how long does it normally take. I've seen people saying within an hour. Should I be worried. In GA by the way.
 
Has anybody called the 1-866-267-4510 to hear their order status over the automated system? Call and let me know what it tells you! #ReplyPost
