I just want to see back ordered. Please! Even if it turns out to really be back ordered. Just give me a change. You know how even if you're supposed to go to hell, but you can be forgiven and still make it into the pearly gates? Well I imagine that's what this experience is like. They let you in and save you from burning in hell, but you have to pre order the new iPhone from AT&T and get NO status updates and spam text messages misleading you into thinking your phone shipped.

I said to hell with it, took a drive to Albuquerque to see a buddy last night, and then try to reserve one this morning at the Apple store there.
I had preordered Jet Black 128 when ATT opened the site early, had 10/13-10/20 date......but was itching to get something cause there had always seemed to be NO movement.
Pulled up last night as soon as I could reserve one, and of course, it was a Rose Gold. Uh huh, just not going to do that. And of course the Apple system wouldnt even let me make a reservation anyways.
Went to the store anyway after they opened, advised that I couldnt make a reservation, even for the pink phone.....
Milled around town for a while, ran an errand before I was to leave town, figured I'd look one more time online, and lo and behold, all of sudden there is at least more options......Again, couldnt reserve anything, so got back to the store, and the door guy pulled it up on the system and signed me in.
They literally had just gotten some 32gb MB and 128 Silver. I hurriedly cancelled the pre-order from my phone, and was told about a 20 minute wait for the genius/sales rep.
Got the 32gb in MB, only cause I really dont save that much to the phone.
I would have been flustered had I not got a phone today.
Love the MB as it is. The only JB they had in the store was the small one, and it needed a good wiping down.
Happy to be done.

Nope, the in-store reservation just puts a hold on the phone for you like any other product. They hold it for the time period you set and you go in and start the process. They don't check your account at all.
Also if AT&T says you have to wait for 24 hours to have your eligibility reset if you were to use AT&T NEXT, they are full of it. We asked for a supervisior and the AT&T sales rep instantly put an override in so it would work. Apple will help you call them and get it done too. They said they do it all day long.
