Is anyone else annoyed at the fact that all delivery options for FedEx are greyed out? I'm trying to go in a bit later if I can but truth be told if no ones home when the phone delivers I want it to at least go in our parcel lockers... knowing fedex they're just gonna leave a slip...

For everyone who is still waiting and remotely thinking about reserving online and picking up in store... do it before it goes into back order or else you'll be stuck like me. Don't cancel anything until you're in the Apple Store, make sure you see the phone you reserved then try to cancel it there in person. I'm glad I did that because my order was shipping right as I was there and there was no way for me to cancel my order already...
Or they will leave it there which I've seen happen before.

If you want to get a phone now and live near an Apple store, you might be interested in this.

I gave up on my ATT preorder of a MB 128 7 Plus scheduled to arrive Oct 14-21. The reason I didn't want to wait is because 1) I wanted to start the clock because I'll probably get the 8 next year and more importantly: 2) I wanted to trade in my 6 Plus for the (up to) $650 credit. ATT announced just this week that in the US you have to purchase your phone by the 25th (tomorrow) in order to be eligible for the trade in (along with a lot of other requirements).

Then you have 30 days to do the trade-in. It wasn't clear about the difference between ordering the phone and receiving it - if the purchase was in Sept but you don't receive the phone for two months, then you're past the 30 days. I didn't want to gamble that if I got my phone Oct 21 I might not be eligible. We've all been told different stories about the rules on this and they are obviously fluid as they never set the US end date until recently. And yes, it was driving me crazy not to have the new phone in hand (I had problems during the first midnight online reservation or I would have just ordered through Apple as usual).

It was my first time ordering a phone from ATT and I missed the kind of connection I'd gotten with Apple pre-orders in the past. I've been in two Apple stores in the last two days and I've seen how people are coming in the store, walk-ins, and getting lucky. Others are purchasing theirs online like I did (this is not the IUP reservation system), checking Apple at midnight, early in the morning, and throughout the day. I was able to check the box that I wanted to buy it on the Next 24 month plan, so all this was set up before I went into the store. There still was a wait when I arrived for my appointment time, but I walked out with my phone in hand. It was a lot better than waiting until mid-October and maybe missing out on the trade-in for me.

Where did you hear we have 30 days? I have a JB Plus on pre-order that doesn't ship until last week of November (as of now).

This is what I found (emphasis mine):
AT&T said:
AT&T will end it's $0 iPhone 7 trade-in program on Sept. 25 – just three days remain for you to get a iPhone 7 as a part of this offer. Model you want out of stock? You can still order the version you want before end of day on the 25th and trade your iPhone 6 or 6s when it arrives. For full promotion details, visit here.

Some shippers require at least one delivery attempt before allowing the package to be rerouted. That's likely why the opinions are grayed out. That has happened to me before, and there is no way around it.

nice man. at what point did you cancel your preorder, and how long did it take your eligibility to reset?

I know there are others as well. Thing is I have a terrible ship estimate of 2nd to 3rd week of October. Not looking good.

Everyone who ordered the jet black plus in 128gb got shipping dates of oct 14-21. A lot of people, myself included, made the effort to get up in the middle of the night and ordered right when the pre-order started. I'm surprised you got dates earlier than November when you didn't even order when the pre-order went live. You really have no stance on bitching when you didn't even order yours until late in the morning.

You will be fine. The phone was order d during the promo period. AT&T's website states you have 30 days from the receipt of the device to do the trade. Yes it's been discussed several times before.

Once you receive your new iPhone you'll have 30-days to get the promotional trade-in value for your eligible iPhone.

I was told this today on the phone with an ATT retail store and it's on the thread here about the trade in. Also here:

However, you've got a JB res - that is really different. Those phones are not showing up in the stores that I've seen. Hold onto it until you're positive you have another JB with your name on it (is my advice)

Good advice, particularly after tomorrow, if you're planning on doing the trade in. Once the promo ends if you cancel your preorder you'd no longer be eligible for the trade in if you buy starting Monday.

Just chatted with ATT and (take this with a grain of salt because this whole forum post displays the competence/knowledge of ATT and their sales and support associates) I was informed that if you wanted the $650 credit, you needed to order by the 25th and that the date to trade in is from when you receive it. I have a November-December date, so I had to check. Scripts from chat are below

I guess I mistyped the time I ordered. I ordered 2 minutes before the pre-order went live 11:58PM my bad.

Now do I have a right to bitch? Lol

EDIT: jazzfade, you have a lot of balls for someone new to this site.

You have a lot of balls to act like you're privelidged to have a phone before anyone else. I may be new to posting on this site but I'm an adult and I know a lot about type A people who think they desserve things for no reason. Get over yourself.

When did I ever say I was entitled to anything? I just said I was frustrated and you're the one who approached me in a hostile manner. What's next? Are you going to go off on David a post above yours for expressing his frustration too?

PS: that's typically how things work btw, someone orders first then usually they receive what they bought first.

Just got an email saying my Apple IPHONE 7P 256GB JBK PHONE ordered 9/9 3:40 EST through AT&T Premier now shipped through Fedex. Should have it this week. In St. Louis. Went on Back Order status Friday afternoon. Hope this means everyone else will be getting theirs soon too.

and you did the IUP, or financed through AT&T?
At that time (the first Apple store), I had paid for it outright on my card. And we in store changed that to ATT Next. However, I'd mistakenly bought the 7 and not the 7 plus, so we cancelled out the sale. Today I found the plus and did it with ATT Next (the Apple page gave me that option). I never went through the IUP links.
