It's different to on my 6s+. Anyone else noticed this? Split opinion on it

Agreed. It seems a tad slower?

Might actually be a glitch. The old animation happens occasionally too. So it does them at random it seems.

It seems like its lagging behind, you see the wallpaper zoom out and then the icon does slightly behind. The fact that the normal animation plays sometimes does make me think it's a bug.
Imagine if the low power cores couldn't render it properly

This. Hopefully it's fixed in the next update. They might make the low power cores a tad more powerful so it can cope.

I think I figured it out. It goes along with the story Macrumors just posted regarding the home button only working with skin contact. Basically:

- If you press the home button and IMMEDIATELY take your finger off in the process, you get the old fast animation.

- If you press the home button, but your finger is still touching it or resting on it, it's the slightly slower "new" animation this thread was referring to.

So...seems to be a limit of the new touch based home button, and not necessarily a software glitch, or even something possibly fixable with an update.

I noticed this immmediately as well, especially after how fast the animations were on my 6S on iOS 10 :(

Glad I'm not the only one noticing the lag on the iPhone 7. It seems random to me because sometimes the apps close smooth and fast but mostly it's a bit slower with a slight stutter in the closing animation.

Same stuttering issue here with iPhone 7 and this is with the 10.0.1 update and a clean install (no restore from backup).

Hopefully they will update it soon. Feels like an android device right now :O

I just played with an iPhone 7 plus in the store and I noticed the same weird animation. It works fine if you hit the home button before the app is open, but otherwise all 3 animations end at different times (app zoom, then wallpaper zoom and then icon zoom). It should be one unified motion.

I don't see how this is a hardware issue though. Probably just a glitch that nobody was able to report because nobody had an iPhone 7 during the betas.

I'm seeing it to on my iPhone 7.

Was surprised to see iOS stuttering and lagging a bit on this fresh new phone...was considering doing a clean install, but since others are seeing it too I'll just wait for another software update.

No, you don't. You get it all the time.

You can't even tap an icon and close it immediately like you could with the 6s. Definitely a 7 issue but it'll be fixed in the next update.

I'm noticing another quirk on my 7. When I double tap while in an app, to open the multitasking tiles, I see this odd stutter where the app I'm on judders downward for a split second. Happens every single time.

My old 6 running the same OS doesn't do this at all. Smooth as butter.

I saw this in a video and damn it looks terrible. Is it bad that this small thing makes me want my iPhone 7 Plus quite a bit less? Really hoping Apple prioritizes this thing and doesn't wait until like iOS 10.3 in March or something to fix it.

Everybody make sure you report this to Apple to prioritize the issue!!

Just noticed the lags when closing folders, too. Its not the same stutter when closing apps, but lagging also....

Cmon apple, give us the update this week!

I've been noticing the same thing on my 7 on 10.0.1. App closing is just really weirdly jerky. It seems to pause for a fraction of a second. Overall iOS 9 was much smoother on my 6s.
