Do you think this is actually fixable with software or do you think it's a result of not using a real home button?

I mean, why is the animation different at all? Why would the hardware make the animation different?

Also, why would've apple not seen this glitch before shipping it?

This is one of the reasons I don't like the "big.little" arm chip design. Look at the fail Snapdragon 810 or Exynos 7420 that is choppier than SD 820 due to that power saving CPU that doesn't "Turbo boost" when a single thread animation or app is using more power than the little chips. At least with iPhone 6S, you're getting the full GHz while on 7S you only get the bigger chip when rendering/exporting stuff or gaming.

If they cant fix it, i bring the iphone back. If ios lags on iphone 7 are normal i could buy an android device -.-
[doublepost=1474259802][/doublepost]I noticed two things. When you set the homebutton click-speed to slow, the app switcher works normal. In standard mode when you double press the home buton while you are in an app, the iphone things after the first press, you want to close the app and start the closing animation. Directly after that, the iphone register the second press and stop the closing animation and go into the app switcher...

When you reduce the transparency the folder animations are smooth. I dont think its somerhing with the low power cores, because the starting animations and everything else is buttering smooth on the new iphone.
I think they just have to optimized ios10 for the new homebutton and put some frames into the closing animation of apps.

But why are the frames missing in the first place? It doesn't make any sense that the animations on the 7 are any different than the animations on the 6s. After pressing the home button, it should simply go home with the standard animation. It works correctly if you start opening an app, then close it before it's done opening, so I know the phone is capable of doing the correct animation, it's just weird that it's different if you're in the app for longer than 1 second.

so there must be a frame missing. i think the lags in closing apps are no Problem for apple to fix it. The app switcher will be a Problem i think. If they put a delay in the homebutton it would work, but then everybody cries about the delay :D

It's definitely there and a bit annoying. Funny thing it doesn't seem to do it when closing the Facebook app...

There are three issues exclusive to the 7.

One, the slow closing app animation. It almost looks like it's delayed. It slows down.

Two, you can't close an app IMMEDIATELY after opening like you can on the 6s.

Three, if you tap the camera button, it won't take pictures as fast as the 6s.

Hopefully all three of these will be fixed in iOS 10.0.2.

i have two more:

Animation of app switcher Looks weird, like bouncing app previews.

Closing Folder animations lags and stutters when transparency is ON (I think everybody of us have it on ON)

I also find the scrolling, especially in the mail app to be pretty laggy. Could this have to do with the photo app compiling the "memories"? Maybe there is a lot going on in the background? I have no clue - but it's pretty annoying.

I just compared with my 6s running iOS 9 and the mail app is definitely not as smooth scrolling on my 7 with iOS 10. Its easy to see when you put them side by side. There's just slight stuttering.

I get the feeling that iOS 10 in general just isn't as smooth as iOS 9. Even though I know the processor is faster in my 7, iOS 9 on my 6S just feels way better in terms of animation and scrolling smoothness.

Edit: Same problem in messages too. iOS 9 on 6S is significantly smoother at scrolling.

This lag has kinda taken away that new fast experience when you get a new iphone. Closing apps and scrolling through the multitasking cards has lag. I'm sure this will be fix in an update though.

I'm coming from an iphone 5 on ios 8.4 which is butter smooth. And comparing my 7 to a 6s it didn't seem faster at anything and the 7's lag makes it seem worse.

That's terrible. Hopefully they fix this one fast. I've never had a brand new iPhone that lagged right away. iOS 10 was designed for iPhone 7 and it seems like my iPhone 6 runs it better... that doesn't make any sense to me.

It's so weird, it gives you this impression the 7 isn't as fined tuned as the 6s, but everything else on my 7 is much faster, fluid, etc.

Does it happen on both iPhone 7 and 7 plus?

Maybe iOS 10 isn't fully optimized for the iPhone 7 hardware yet.

is this happening on all phones? I'm really considering returning my 7 - just makes the OS feel unstable.
I should poke into an Apple store to see if they demo units also have the same problem.

Returning the phone because of a visual smoothness glitch when closing apps?

yup. While I'd rather not return it, we just don't know if Apple will release an update to address this issue. The phone is the thing I use the most throughout the day and I'd rather have it be a pleasurable experience than a what it currently is.

im sure apple will release an update with Fixing These Bugs. in worst case iOS 10.1 will fix These in december.

iOS 10.1 beta 1 is released and still no fix for these issues...hoping for a 10.0.2 this week.

+1 same "closing app bug" on my 128 matte black 7 (not plus). Laggate is here for the 7 :D it's not very annoying by the way!

I wasn't able to reproduce this issue when playing with a demo unit iPhone 7 Plus at the Apple Store. It was smooth as silk pretty much everywhere.

Is this an issue the demo units don't have, but shows up on your own phone?

If the iPhone 7 units have really annoying lag problems I think I'll hold off upgrading my iPhone 6 for a few until they're fixed.

Wow!! Since getting the 7 plus this has been driving me crazy! The whole OS feels slow and laggy. On my 6s everything is butter smooth.

I just installed 10.1 beta and it's not fixed. I'm starting to think this is because of the A10 fusion chip and it's using the low power cores for the animation..

Really considering returning the 7 and going back to my 6s.

I don't think it has anything to do with the home button, mostly probably just the A10 fusion chip and the less powerful cores. I'm really surprised Apple would release something like this.
