Waits for the backlash over charging port changing....

The loss of a headphone jacks I honestly won't even noticed. The amount I use it is so limited. As long as I get given a set of headphones to use with the phone.

The rumor of the 5.8 OLED curved screen iPhone makes me pause as a former owner of the iPad 3. The spring event needs more substance and that could be just what the doctor ordered.

Well...
None of us know for sure but since we're obviously commenting on rumors; that's the rumor .

From a logic standpoint, here it is: we are talking about the most profitable product (in a VERY small batch), from the most profitable company on the planet- if you think they won't include an adapter that will likely cost them scant pennies, to eliminate backlash from a bold business decision... I don't know what to say.

But Apple also has an agenda. While I give them the benefit of the doubt that removing the headphone jack is a necessity to make room inside for other features, their goal is ultimately to move customers to wireless or at a minimum, Lightning.

If they include a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter in the box, however inexpensive it may be, they are encouraging their customers to continue using their old headphones some of which may be cheaper than even Apple's free headphones. Those customers might not even try the Lightning earbuds Apple bundles with the phone, and throw them in a drawer.

If Apple does this, they have to sell the public on the change, and they're not going to do that with an adapter (that the customer will see as unnecessary), and the customer's old headphones and audio products. If a customer has to think twice about plugging in their old headphones (in the form of buying an inexpensive adapter), they will try the Lightning earbuds (which I expect Apple will step up their quality game over their previous efforts), and will consider investing in Apple's new Bluetooth headphones or earbuds (which likewise they will also step up their game), or Lightning equipped headphones.

So, no, I don't expect Apple to include an adapter in the box, at least until the backlash turns out to be more substantial than they anticipated, which I also don't expect to be the case.

I don't really mind what that phone (other than the screen) looks like.
It could be super ugly and I'd be perfectly fine with it (function over form)!

I only want it to look pretty for the people who buy it for that reason so that sales are up and they keep making them...

So in other words... Apple believes 6S and 6 are already big enough of a success, or that they don't have the ability to switch over to a new slick design until the 7S when they have OLED and other amazing new features. Great, looks like Nexus it is for phone upgrade?

Are you planning on selling your SE in 6 months? You could have just bought a 6 or 6 plus which should have better speakers already

I will sell my SE in 6 months. I should have considered what the speaker quality would have been purchasing this phone. And thanks for your reply on the Rose Gold color, chances are I will pass and consider regular gold. I typically always have had Space Gray.

No, I will be glad if Apple does not include iPad-like stereo speakers on iPhone.
Not the right device to implement that. I'd rather have some other features like
the rumored larger sensor for better low light performance of the camera.

If they delete the headphone jack, they will most certainly place something their. Unlikely if Apple to leave a voided space, A an extra speaker is the most logical decision. I doubt a sensor for a low light camera would be secured on the bottom of the phone, next to the Lightning jack.

I surely hope the iPhone 7 doesn't look anything like in the image. Looks absolutely terrible to me ... here's to hoping the image is fake!
That's a good sign that it will look exactly like in the image.

Anything could happen under the current leadership, who knows, but placing second speaker on the bottom is dumb, since the distance is too short for a stereo sound. If iPhone needs a stereo speaker then on the top of the device, so you can watch video in landscape mode and have a nice stereo sound. And I am still not sure it will work well for small models, but for the larger Pro it will.

I wish this was a more radical redesign. It seems Apple is complacent with the same old rectangle that every other smartphone has become. What you see here could be the iPhone for the next 2 years. I'm thinking this is allowing another manufacturer to break the paradigm and reinvigorate the static smartphone industry. There needs to be some innovation in the UI as it's stayed mostly the same since 2007. The smartphone is the trendsetter in tech and what what we have to show for the latter part of the last decade and this decade in innovation - virtual reality notwithstanding.

They may even subvert any backlash about removing the headphone jack by including a lightning to headphone adapter, or is that just wishful thinking and they can sell a heap of adapters.

Not sure making it thinner is wise, we already had bendy 6 Plus and 6s Plus, and you know people are gonna sit on them in their back pocket, some with phone on vibrate, but that's a whole different story....

3D cameras and 3D screens are the next logic step, and I'm sure chinese will beat Apple in doing this.

Looks ****ing ugly and bland.

2 years ago when the iPhone 6 was being leaked, everyone liked the overall design but hated the antennae bands. Folks whined and wanted them removed. Fast forward to now with Apple giving in to the folks 2 years ago and we get comments like yours. Apple can't win.

True story.

So this will be year 3 for the iPhone 6 (the new 6SS).
Oh, and we're now on, what, the fourth version of the iPhone 5?
Yawn.
Guess Jony's too busy doodling cars on his iPad Pro to bother anymore.

Smart connector for a keyboard?? makes no sense at all.... Apple should capitalize on wireless charging capabilities or battery cases and expand on what these "smart" connectors can do

1. It's rumours.
2. If you are not tied to iOS, then your best bet is always Android. Way cheaper storage, cheaper models, more flexibility in some areas and a plethora of manufacturers.

The only reason I use an iPhone even if I'm a tech geek, computer scientist, well versed programmer and all you can think of, is because I love iOS as simple and functional as it is, and the integration with everything Apple including OS X. If there was no such ecosystem, I wouldn't pay for overpriced hardware, which is what it is in the end. But then I pay for what's inside (iOS).

Seems like you may be one of those people who don't really need the ecosystem nor has a compelling need for iOS, in which case, yes, mid-high end range Android phones are almost always a better choice from a hardware perspective!

Actually from a hardware perspective, Apple has always ben #1 and Samsung and others have been trying to catch up/excel, but always have fallen short.

I'm pretty sure Android phone manufacturers won't be dropping the 3.5mm until the see the potential backlash Apple will receive if they do end up eliminating it and the effects it might have on iPhone sales. Considering the fact that it would render millions of headphones and earbuds useless, it would also piss off people who use an aux cable in their cars.

By removing the 3.5mm headphone jack from the iPhone, Apple will really be testing the loyalty and patience of many of its customers. Obviously the fanboys will blindly defend their decision and find ways to justify it, but Tim Cook's greed (removing the jack is most likely a money-based decision) and overall lack of vision will come back to bite Apple in the ass just like it did in the 90s.

Ok...

There's no winning.

No headphone jack? What am I supposed to do with my expensive headphones? EarPods are disgraceful. Can't move to Android because I'm not very interested in giving away all of my data to Papa Google.
