The SE was really hard to get until a couple of months ago. I got mine in mid May and my husband had to use his business account and contacts to secure it for me. So I am thinking it's a bit early to replace this particular representative of that 4" size category. Maybe in 2017 Apple will deign to permit a 4" flagship model instead of forever consigning it to the beginners and budget category. Sigh.
I just walked into the Apple Store and launch day and bought two. They had plenty. Maybe it was because I was in Cow Hampshire.

1986 called, they want their dated designs back.....and that counter top as well!

I still, to this day, believe Apple leak out information at launch day approaches to kill any unrealistic expectations about a product.
I've seen it happen many times now over the years, and it's just all too much to be a coincidence.

Honestly I also do fully understand why it would make good business sense to officially leak things.

Think about it for a moment. If you are going to get up on stage, in front of the worlds press, and show off your latest and greatest product. The very last thing you are a company, or person on stage would ever want is for everyone in the room to be disappointed, as one or two unrealistic expectations become so strong that, almost everyone there was expecting "A" and you could only deliver "B"

Sure, silly things, like colours not showing up, or perhaps RAM not being increased would not be a worry, but anything major that's all in the media about it's coming NOW, you would not wish to disappoint on.

So, the most obvious thing is, and this is what happens almost every year.
There ARE some great expectations about a product, and they grow and change over the year, a few BIG ones stick, and stay there till we start getting close to launch day.

Then just a few weeks away, some rumour sites/posts start to kill things off, and we end up pretty much expecting what ends up being shown.

As I say, it makes sense. If anything you want to show MORE than is being expected.
It will interesting to watch over the next few weeks if any of the current expectations mysteriously get killed off prior to launch day.

What do we have so far?

Colours Blue/Black (not that important to worry about killing rumours)
RAM starting at 32GB ? 32/64/128 ?
Dual Camera's (been talked about for almost the whole years now)
Headphone Jack vanishing, everyone is expecting it.
A speaker on the top for stereo in landscape?
Antenna Bands?
I agree with you 100 percent! Two years ago I wanted to get a gold iPhone 5s because I made an unwise choice to purchase an iPhone 5 in late April of 2013 so when I heard word of the iPhone 6, I kept checking out any information about it online. It wasn't until the last day of March in 2014 that we got our first leaked pic of the iPhone 6 schematic. I hated it! Then about the time July came, I realized just how much I was in love with the new design due to multiple leaks of the iPhone 6. By the time of the unveiling i couldn't wait to get my hands on one. So yeah Apple obviously allows leaks to happen.

Well-known mobile phone leaker Evan Blass has this morning predicted which week of September that Apple will announce the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

iphone-800x289.png

Blass, who has accurately leaked images and details about unreleased smartphones on Twitter (@evleaks) in the past, tweeted today simply "iPhone 2016 release: week of September 12th."

Blass is better known for leaking Android-based smartphone details ahead of their official confirmation, but his prediction for the iPhone 7's launch falls in line with Apple's typical September iPhone announcements - the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus launched on September 9th, 2015 - making it a pretty safe bet.

Blass's prediction follows a tweet by the blogger four days earlier in which he claimed the internal codenames for Apple's upcoming iPhones are "Sonora" and "Dos Palos", without specifying which is which (although the latter is a small city in California; the former is a Mexican state). Apple's codenames for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were "N71" and "N66", respectively.

This year's iterations of Apple's flagship smartphones are widely expected not to feature major design changes aside from the removal of the headphone jack, as the company is said to be deviating from its standard tick-tock upgrade cycle in order to introduce major new features in next year's 10th anniversary "iPhone 8" which take time to develop.

This year the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 is expected to get an improved camera and optical image stabilization, while the larger 5.5-inch model is thought to be gaining a dual-lens camera and 3GB of RAM.

Other rumored features of this year's iPhones include a faster TSMC-made Apple A10 processor, repositioned antenna bands, faster LTE and Wi-Fi, a slightly larger battery, and a minimum 32GB of base storage. A larger 256GB model may also be available.

You know what I wish Apple, or Samsung would do.
They won't.
It would be simple if they did this, and prove to be valuable, but they won't.

What am I talking about?

Make 2 thickness models, one with, let's say 3x battery capacity of the other.
Many can just about squeeze 2 days from a modern mobile phone, so let's alongside this 6mm thick (for example) make a 10mm thick model.

Identical other than this difference, put them up for sale, minimum price difference in reality, and see which the public goes for.

The day or two version or the week version.

Would it be a 50/50 spit I wonder, what would the public like is they actually had the choice for once in their lives?

"Ease of use" (aka coddling the beginners and making them not need to have to learn anything ) is how Apple got to where it is. Even decades ago, compare DOS machines to MacOS in 1984 - Apple championed the dumbing down while citing geniuses in crafty TV ads, how interesting... Probably not the hand of The Woz, who's actually cool.

I'm going to say it again. I still can not believe the number of people that buy the iPhone for the way it looks. I buy it for what it does. I suggest to those that are into the looks of a phone switch to Android. The OS sucks, but you will have lots of different phones to choose from to make your life better.

I am holding up until September 2017:(, better off with iPhone 6s plus than those horrible looking antenna lines and fugly protruding camera phone

♪ First World Problem ♫

But it could be worse - they could remake the disaster called "iPhone 4", for which an engineer told the CEO of the time in advance of the possible problem - who promptly ignored the warnings like how the bestest CEOs in the universe all ignore such issues that can affect the brand. When customers got the 4 and used it and, surprise, had the problem, said CEO screamed and blamed THEM for the problem. It doesn't get any more trashy and despicable and contemptible of your customers than that.

Now i know for sure: most Apple users around here are shallow. They just care how the new iPhone looks.
I care more about the screen, the soc, wireless , battery and the camera.
Does anyone know about the specs of these things?
Now. Just whining about the lack of the 3.5 mm, for which Apple will include an adapter that is probably about the same size as an 3.5 mm plug itself.

Like saying you don't care how your wife looks as long as she makes nice dinners, works, and brings home some money.
Whilst looks are shallow and what "the item" does is what really matters, we are animals driven a LOT by vision.
Online blind relationships are great, and would be nice if done more.
People FORCED to get to know each other by voice/text alone BEFORE you make the shallow decision you don't like them due to their physical appearance which, for the most part they are unable to change.

The fact that Apple appear to be once again abandoning the 4" size and losing the headphone jack leads me to think that this iPhone will see the same downward trend in sales that we saw with the iPhone 6s.

Wish it were not so.
The iPhone 6 was an anomaly in sales because it was the first larger iPhone, and it was unrealistic to expect that the iPhone 6S continue that same upward sales growth.

Plot a line from the 5s to the 6s and I think the next iPhone should still see reasonable improvements in sales, especially as Apple continues to open new sales channels in more markets.

Question people is the 12 when Apple will release it at there event but when is a possible preorder day and what time I hope to get before or on sept 22 that's why my birthday is
Judging by past releases, event could be 13th, preorders 16th, release 23rd.

I'm hoping Apple puts a smart connector on the back, and releases a chinless battery case.

Then everyone wins.

I've believed this for a while, wasn't it Steve jobs who once said "leaks often come from the top" during an interview many years ago. I do think Apple leak certain information such as the removal of the headphone jack, in order for people to get use to it by the time the phone releases.

I also think that there will be more features than what are being mentioned at the moment for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus/Pro people are simply breezing over the dual camera, when in fact it could open up a world of possibilities, not to mention things like better low light, sharper images and maybe even better zoom without grainy images. No doubt there will be other features that will either surprise us during the keynote OR that will leak just before hand, much like last years 3D Touch and the Live Photos feature.

Same here. But then I (and no doubt you) have been out of high school for awhile and have a full life.

Since it's not something I show all my friends in an attempt to garner prestige and envy, nor something that makes me feel special and needs to be caressed, as long as it works great, is reliable, has a great camera, is not heavy or bulky, I'm pleased.

Abandoning? The SE just came out!

Downward trend? The only sold 50,000,000 that quarter...?
One quarter (or is it two) and that includes releasing the SE and having it steal sales is not a "trend" it's a blip.

How can you say that when so many new watch bands are eminent!
Yeah but there will be the Apple Watch 2 at the same event, so it won't be too bad.
Yeah maybe they will launch some another accessories or watch 2 and i haven't even seen the watch 1 till date (buying is far away for me) not every one who buy iPhone buy watch or other accessories, for then this is going to be booring
