Yeah it's a bummer. Found that out right now. I think the only variant is the T-Mobile one that does not require eligibility verification. Which is stupid as you're full paying.

Wow, Apple wasn't kidding when they said demand would outstrip supply. I have to drive 40 miles and out of state to pick up my jet black iPhone even though there are like 3 flagship stores by me in NYC.

Ok... I ordered iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black 128GB and was told Oct. 10th. If i go and do the old sit and wait at the AT&T store like I've done in the past and manage to get one that morning... can i cancel the online order if it still hasn't shipped?

Do the dates typically get moved up?

This is just crazy. This is the first time I ever did not get launch day on both phones.

Now I just really hope I get the Jet Black one before the 15th because I will be on vacation from the 15-24th of October.

That's messed up, bothers me because I just started the upgrade program with the 7 Plus. Did they give you every other option except Jet Black?
 
I got in around 12:06am, chose the jet black 256GB iPhone 7 Plus and got an initial estimate of September 26. By the time I finished getting through the buying process, my estimate had slipped to October 4-10. I guess they don't save your phone from the time you start the order. That seems a bit unfair since I started the process before many others who will get the phone before I do.

I did order my wife a 256GB Rose Gold iPhone 7 Plus and my daughter a 128GB Rose Gold iPhone 7. Those will arrive on September 16. After I finished all three orders, I checked on the jet black iPhone 7 Pluses. The shipping estimates were already out to November.

I have a feeling they didn't make very many black or jet black phones.

With all due respect, creating hype / demand based on lack of inventory isn't exactly a new practice. You have no idea how many iPhones that Apple already had produced ready to go, nor what their rate of production is... so, before getting too excited, might be worth waiting to see what the sales figures are in a couple of months?

People like to rant and rave but in the end they buy one anyway .... Personally I am all for the headphone jack removal as I never listen to music and charge at the same time on headphones.

Macrumor just keep copy pasting the same articles from every year. Like they put "now accepting preorders" just at 3am pst and nothing came up until like 3:10am so i knew it was just a copy paste job.

No problem getting the 7 Plus Matte Black 128GB, but like others here, no in-store pickup? I don't mind delivery (sched 9/16, they usually arrive pretty early). I opted to pay for the iPhone outright.
 
Never trying to order through Sprint's website again. Ever. 3:03am EST and received nothing but "error" screens at multiple steps in the process.

Gave up, tried Apple's website with IUP at 3:19, connections timed out. Either this is an extreme demand, or servers everywhere are just struggling this morning.
 
Well. That escalated quickly. Soon as I got into the site it was sold out. Went to click on make a reservation and it took me to the damn US site!

First time bad experience pre ordering. They knew they didn't have enough units to begin with.

Joke.

I think it safe to say that a LOT of people never even look at the specs - they just hear new iPhone and then get their assistants to order it. At least, that is what three of the senior folks here have done.

I can't help but wonder if Apple anticipates the demand for the newest color but purposely limits the supply to make it even more in-demand.

Didn't see any Jet Black iPhones available for store pickup anywhere across the East or West Coasts.

Same. The regular 7 was available for pickup but not the 7 Plus. I wonder if stores will even have 7 Plus' laying around? I'll go to my local Apple Store anyway and see what's there.
