I like this idea. Biggest issue I have had with iPhone is the home button going "dead" after a years use, at most.

I have used the nexus 5x and all you have to do is rest your finger on the scanner and it automatically wakes and unlocks the phone. Pretty neat

If this rumor is true it will be interesting to see how Apple implements the click to home and double-click features. I imagine touch force under the home button? even more interesting next year if they do go to an all screen phone.

who knows it might not be a dissapointment. Design aside it will be a decent upgrade if the camera is something special.

Only problem is that I'm not camera crazy. I was hoping for a complete redesign. Not just a few sprinkles here and there. You know, like the jump from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 to iPhone 6.

This is annoying. I've been meaning to ditch this year's model, but I'm really liking this.

My 6S Plus is being replaced and I am getting a new one in 3-4 weeks (not instant where I live), maybe I should sell it and wait for the new iPhone?

I've always been an S model adopter, I'd hate to break that habit now.

Who even came up with that? There wasnt an anniversary iPod or MacBook, was there?

I mean iOS 10 had its anniversary this year and its nothing revolutionary either

It doesn't actually have any basis, I'm pretty sure some random person started with the idea and then later on an article mimicked it by mentioning it offhand. My assumption would be reality would have the next iPhone (6S-S) as being a SE, and maybe the following being iPhone 7.

The first thing I do with a new phone is turn off the haptic feedback. Very annoying to me. Capacitive home button? Have it on my HTC 10.

13 months to go until a modern Iphone is released.

I won't cry. I'll laugh. As I enjoy my Note 7. Thanks the "new" macs, leaving the eco system really isn't as hard was it used to be.
with smart switch, google photos it really isn't hard to transfer things over from iphone to android.

It will be interesting to compare the dual camera results to those of the new larger lens on the smaller IPhone. Right now it doesn't sound that exciting but I'm sure they will give a good presentation of the capabilities when they debut it.

I'm hoping for increased color accuracy. When I did test shots from my iPhone 6sPlus at Best Buy, the blue rug there had a purple hue in the photos. Comparing it to a Note 7, which gave a more accurate rendition of the hue but jacked up the saturation a bit high, I found the IPhone color accuracy less desirable than that of the Note. But overall sharpness and focus were comparable under the same lightning conditions.

Any improvements to cell phone cameras are always welcome news for me.

For me, dual camera's would educate me, being I truly don't know it's capabilities yet. I am excited to see what Apple provides for a demo. I am not entirely sure I would purchase the '5.5 Pro'. I'm more impartial to the 4.7 model. But if they sell me, who knows, maybe it will be enough to try it out for 14 Days.

iPhone 4s : invites sent out on Sep 27, 2011 ; event date was Oct 4, 2011 = 7 day notice

My guess is invites for event won't be sent out for another 3 weeks, which means week of Aug 28 - Sep 3, 2016.

I stand corrected, thanks for the info :)

In Tim Cook's world.

Per Tim Cook: "Why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one? The iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones."

Fair point! In the future this could well be true. Mr Cook better find a way to make the iPad more powerful with Apps that match. If Logic were available for an iPad I could get by on an iPad Pro.

I'm curious how the stereo speakers will sound, and if we'll get any new software features to take advantage of it.

I would normally be excited for stereo sound, but given that Apple is only going to drive to make the device thinner, outside of some audio trickery, it's not like they're going to sound great anyways.

i doubt apple will try to label it as "stereo" but basically as an extra speaker for more volume.
because we all know they are too close for stereo(even having them on top and bottom are too close for stereo really) but i can see them selling it as just a more powerful sound coming from the phone.

which i don't mind, being able to talk on speaker phone in very loud situation (visiting work sites, sitting in a crowd) or being able to watch a video or stream a movie and not have to hold the phone as close to be able to hear it well(i live in arizona and both at home or in public there is always fans+ac going everywhere in the summer, can make it hard to hear with out it blasting on full volume)

its part of what i liked about the new ipad pro. more speakers, even without stereo sound, having the extra volume boost without having to worry about long term damage to the speaker is always nice.

Honestly, if you accept the 3.5
Jack will be deleted on the iPhone 7, then I would sell your 6s and upgrade. We are approximately a month away from the debut. It might be worth your time, if your interested. I too will be upgrading to the iPhone 7 when released.

In my opinion, there is enough for me to upgrade.

they are not their yet but, compared to the original iPad's and tablets, things like the ipad Pro and the surface pro truly have made huge bounds.

i mean 256gb or storage? thats more then some base models for Macbook's. that alone gives it a huge push into the portable laptop market. i say give it a few more years and we will see a 1tb ipad with the power to outshine everything except the MBP itself(excluding desktops as well, if apple can get this delayed chip issue under control the iMac Will always out do the iPad's. and should the Mac Pro if they ever do another update for it)

Which i honestly wouldnt mind being able to replace my Macbook air/standard macbook with an ipad pro either, as long as it has the power to keep up.

You watch. People will blame Apple for the price increases yet it was us, the U.K. public that messed it all up.

It is apples fault , even if you take Brexit out of it, apple chooses to maintain its high profit margins globally, so if the US dollar is strong, apple products globally are expansive. Apple are very quick to adjust the prices in thier favour, and very slow when it's the other way.

Apple better get the camera right on this one....

My Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge takes shots that are so much better than the 6+, that I almost never bother taking photos on the iPhone anymore.

You do realize a better camera comparison is between the 6s Plus instead of the 6 Plus.

The s7 Edge has the latest hardware compared to the 6 Plus.

Even comparing the 6s Plus camera isn't fair as that's six months older.

You can't compare. Both phones are released six months apart.

So is this what we have to look forward to in the next iPhone.. a new home button!? Really? I hope they have more in store than just a faster processor and battery life:/ If I'm not impressed then I might just jump ship. I don't work for Samsung but I have to say I did like their new upcoming phone.. just saying! I don't hate Apple, after all I own many of their products, but the iPhone is starting to become stagnant.

Duel camera
Waterproof

All we know so far

The dual lense camera is for the iPhone plus model which I (and many people) not interested and the waterproof is nice but not revolutionary:/ Is it enough to make me want to pay $800+ after tax? I will definitely look at my options...

Won't the "haptic feedback" contribute to the battery usage? Didn't they shrink the battery to put the haptic engine in it's place? Seems like a lot of power wasted throughout the day.

that's nice but unless it they have a functional purpose for doing so it's kinda pointless.

back in the day when home buttons used to break often it might've been useful. but now, they're built pretty solid.
