"The 4.7 inch iPhone won't get OIS! There just isn't enough room!"

Gee, how many times have we heard that here?
I don't know a whole lot about camera module design, but is it a real possibility were able to make the smaller module that still had the feature built in? This is essentially how all other technology evolves. Do more with less power and space, right?

Not saying that's what's happening here. But it seems kind of arbitrary for Apple to put the "better" camera in the physically larger model and not really market it as a better feature. Come to think of it though, it's odd then better camera isn't in the SE, right?

Camera is a huge deal for me. Image stabilization in both sizes is a nice step forward. But if this and related rumors are true, Apple is still pushing a ridiculous differentiation. So I have to buy the plus version to get the new best ever dual lens camera? WTF Apple? And other than screen size -- not always a benefit -- this is the ONLY benefit of the larger size. That's just pure greed by Apple, and highly disappointing. I've been an Apple fan going back to my first Mac in the 1980s, but things like this just make me want to back away from the brand. This is NOT an Apple thing to do. At least no the Apple I have bought into for decades.

Maybe just maybe Apple is reserving dual camera to iPhone 9 or whatever. Apple need something to make you empty your pocket. Right?

It's hard to say, but I'm sure we'll find out the details when the inevitable teardowns happen of the new phones.

I just found it funny that just a few months ago, certain people were claiming that it was "impossible" for the 4.7 inch iPhone to get OIS due to the size- and if you wanted OIS then you needed to buy the bigger model. Really I'm just glad that this hopefully will no longer be the case.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe, there isn't room for dual lens cameras on the smaller sized phones? Things tend to be packed pretty tight inside those casings.

How is it ridiculous, especially for a dual lense product (arguable for OIS). The small phone, especially in the 6s cycle, already lost battery to 3d touch, losing more would have been pretty bad.
In the case of the double camera, the loss in a small phone would be very significant, likely losing more than 1h of use and increasing the price of the phone too.

The camera is one of the most used features on smartphones today. I hate that Apple forces those of us who aren't NBA players to have the sub-standard camera. I welcome the addition of OIS, but I really want that dual-camera system, and I wish Apple would just make a Pro model already. I'm willing to pay more to get the fancy Plus features on the 4.7" model, which really isn't even that small. I'd be willing to pay more than the cost of the Plus to get that feature on the 4.7" model, because it would probably require some fancy engineering and tooling for a model that will ship less units. I'm totally ready for the iPhone Pro. Just max it out like crazy and charge me $200 more. I WANT IT.

No headjack, not buying...

To be honest, while I agree there implementation strategy sucks, if they replace the headphone with an awesome feature like wireless charing, I would be happy. And by wireless charging I mean something like Ossia Cota, not Qi.

I do like this camera though! This iphone 6se will still be very behind Samsung, so I'm very open on breaking up with Apple after having an iphones all these years. Over 8 years of iphones, and Tim had to screw it up

No headphone jack equals to no money from me. I will give my money to someone who offers headphone jack

I understand your opinion but why keep on posting this. Do you think Apple will hear you and change the design now? I am sorry, but the removal of the headphone jack is confirmed.

Gee, how many times have we heard that here?

That is why Apple put the huge camera bump on the iPhone 7 this time, and the 7 plus Will get the same bump x2, and there is a lot more space in the 7 plus . so Apple shouldn't t put a dual camera in the 7 plus, because they can' t fit one in the smaller 7?

Then change the design? I mean, it has been 2 years.

No, this is Apple simply trickling down features... they do it all the time, retina on the iPad mini for example. Once they had the split with the iPhone to the 4.7 and the Plus, they had the ability to do the same thing they do in their other product lines.

Pretty smart from a business perspective, pretty crappy from a consumer's perspective.

Welcome to 2010, Apple and Apple users. Genuinely happy that you guys get to enjoy tech Samsung users have had for years. Next will be OLED—in 2018, only on Plus models. Then maybe a finger print sensor that actually works in 2020. Then waterproofing in 2035. Then maybe you guys will enjoy better battery life by 2049.

And just as you're getting eye tracking like Smart Scroll and not stupid innovations like 3D Touch, maybe Apple will bump up the storage from 16 GB.

But I'm sure Apple will still ship 5200 RPM drives.

Do you really get any pleasure from posting these comments like these? If so, I have to ask: How old are you?
[doublepost=1471607773][/doublepost]To all of the people that want a dual camera system: Wouldn't it be prudent to find out how the camera works, and performs, before deciding that you NEED it?

Edited for clarity.

i hope the OIS is not the only camera module upgrade when compared to the 6s. i'd like to have better quality too!

Then i suggest you wait for  iPhone8 ... higher res, oled, side to side .. possibly curved sides like the galaxy s7 and no home button

I think they will release new way of charging also via http://witricity.com

About freaking time!
When will Apple realize those of us buying the smaller phone is by our free will because we like that smaller one better?!
Stop denying us the top spec stuffs.

Stop buying the cheaper phone! Top specs are in the top of the line and that's not the 4.7. You are like a guy who bought a Chevy and is mad the gmc has heated seats

LOL. You haven't shown your cards, have you? "A fingerprint sensor that actually works."? That is all an reasonable person needs to see to understand where you're coming from. Touch ID is the class of the industry.

Very dissapointing that Apple still view the 4.7 incher as a sub-standard model, gimping its camera to upsell buyers to the dual lens on the Plus size. For many, a smaller iPhone with the best available camera would be even more valuable than the Plus size with the same camera. More portable means you're more likely to have it on you when shot opportunities arise.

Just a WAG, but I'll bet Jony Ive is to blame for it. The 4.7 incher would need to be thicker to house the larger camera of the Plus size. That's really unfortunate since I don't remember anyone complaining about the thickness of the iPhone 5 or even the iPhone 4.

Surely the twin lens module is wider and NOT thicker. As the 7plus is no thicker than the 7. So it could be an upsell/differentiation thing or it could be a packaging issue, i.e. there isn't room for the 'wider' twin module in the 4.7 model.

At least for now, until the entire industry follows Apple and there are no smartphones for headphone jacks. Good luck with that.

i agree this year's update will apparently be modest, but i doubt they'll offer all those updates in one single year, unless there's really an anniversary special edition at a *special* price.
oh, and we've had rumors of shrunken side bezels every year since the iP4, i'm tired of that story..
