You AUX jack lovers annoy me. You hold back change and progression with your whinging. You pipe up about how Apple will fail because the precious AUX input has been removed.

Yes because advancing wireless technology and getting rid of long, tangly cables is a bad thing

Why do you even buy Apple when you know this is what they do? They move the goalposts. People moan. Then people shut up when they realise why it has been done.

In September we will find out why and it will be awesome. :apple:

I'm a fan of progress as well but the advantages to removing something should outweigh the disadvantages. It's hard to see how this does. Progress isn't just removing something - it's removing something to make way for something better.

The blind adherence to every decision Apple makes is disturbing. I get it - there will be an adapter but what about all the times you don't want to carry one? Hopping in an uber and plugging into AUX or being at a party and putting on your playlist. Not everyone has Bluetooth speakers and even if they did I don't want to go through the hassle of pairing something every time I want to play a song.

This is dumb and I literally haven't heard one persuasive reason justifying this decision.

Well if you're going to start a troll thread at least know what you're trolling about. Not AUX and not input. Got it.

What the hell are you taking about? I was answering the question about the removal of the lightening port to witch I said no, they are removing the 3.5mm headphone jack. The rest of the "Not AUX and not input" has nothing to do with what I said. Got it.

Referring to the OP, not you. Mentioning lightning removal was a joke. Lighten up. This thread was not intended to spark any sort of discussion of anything, merely inflame, AKA troll.

You should probably quote the OP's comment then.

I'm fine either way on what Apple decides and I don't care what others prefer. Your choice. But there IS a lot of whining about this issue.

Personally, I don't care if the headphone jack is gone. I haven't used it in a long time. In fact I don't think I have actually used it once on my iPhone 6S. Everything I have is bluetooth and I hate wires.

Then why didn't you quote the OP instead of me. You jumped all over me & dragged me into something that had nothing to do with me. Hence my reply. Me personally I don't really care either way as I don't use headphones. But I do see their point. Apple could promote lightening headphones and still leave the 3.5mm jack for people with regular headphones.

My mistake. Should haven a general reply and not quote. But I did refer to the Person who started the thread.

Honestly, I'm surprised the forum allows threads that do nothing more than call people out and mock them. If this thread isn't itself whining (whinging), then what is it? There are tons of news stories about this where OP could have provided an opinion.

That's actually a really good point. Everyone supporting the removal keeps touting the "its for progress/advancement", but it actually isn't advancing anything at all.

They aren't *replacing* the 3.5mm jack; they're removing it, period. Some say it's so that we can "progress" into a better standard, like Bluetooth or Lightning headphones. But that doesn't make any sense because you can already use Bluetooth or Lightning headphones on current iPhone models. This isn't "advancing" anything because it's not adding anything. The 7, if it lacks a headphone jack, will actually have less features than the model before it.

I have been saying this exactly for months. The response is always, "Bluetooth/lightning won't catch on unless people have no choice but to use them" to which I reply, "If they are actually an improvement people will choose to use them given the choice, just like every other tech advancement".

Silly logic. If manufacturers hadn't removed floppy drives, people would still be backing up their 100+GB music collections to them. Right?

Funny, because isn't that exactly what you did to me in your post? Now that's the pot calling the kettle black.

Let me start with saying I am 100% on your side.

That said, the best argument I have heard FOR this change is that it is likely to push innovation among wireless headphone makers. And I can see that, at least to some degree. Apple is certainly in a position where making changes can mold the market, even if it is not immediately noticeable.

Let it go. You didn't start this troll thread hence the statement was not directed at you. You actually gave a reasonable reply to an intentionally ridiculous statement. Sorry you took my reply differently. Was not directed at you, just intended to illustrate this thread doesn't deserve a serious reply. Again, I was annoyed by the OP, not you. Sorry I quoted you and gave the wrong impression. All I can do is apologize for the confusion and clarify my intent.

This has got to be sarcasm...

Hold back progression? YOU can buy Bluetooth and/or lightning headphones now...today. YOU are holding back your own progression, not people that have no influence over Apples decisions what so ever.

Best headphones in the world are still 3.5mm and 1/4" btw.

How is lightning less tangly than 3.5mm? Technically it's MORE tangly since it cannot spin in its socket. You'll need to unplug it to untangle.

Apple does have a habit of removing common tech I'll give you that, but they also have a tendency to reluctantly hold on to old tech so it's a wash.

You should proof read you post. I left out the aux input (technically it is an input also) but your post is illogical and emotion based.

I appreciate you clearing it up that you quoted me by mistake and you were replying to the OP, not me. That's all I was asking for, thanks. I hear what you are saying about trolling posts but I do see their argument as well. Apple still could promote lightening headphone and still leave the 3.5mm jack for people that use regular headphones. Wireless headphones are nice and all but you have to constantly charge them all the time. Plus wired headphones will always have better sound wireless headphones. Lightening headphones might be good and all but you can't charge your phone and listen to lightening headphones at the same time. Also now if you want to use your 3.5mm headphones you have to use a dongle adapter. What if you are at your friends house or party and want to hook it up to their speaker or entertainment system but didn't bring your dongle. So there are drawbacks to going either wireless or lightening headphones. So there is defiantly a valid reason to have these discussions. One opinion doesn't make it right for everyone.

I think in like 2 years you'll be wondering how and why you ever needed an headphone jack!

I wonder how I ever used to put up with watching movies on VHS. That doesn't mean I think it would have made sense to stop selling VHS tapes when DVD players came out.

Some companies and their consumers are ahead of the curve. It's not for everybody. :)

My first iPhone, a 3GS, supported Bluetooth. The lightning port has been there since the 5. If there was any significant advantage to not using the headphone jack, I, and a lot more people, would have stopped using it years ago. There's no revolutionary step forward here.
