Something tells me they're not going to have to worry about it this year.

And why would that be? Because of the removed 3.5 headphone jack or the lack of major redesign? Do you think your typical iPhone user (aka - non tech rumor junkie) would give a toss? No, something tells me this year will be no different from any other previous year.

A supply shortage rumor right before the announcement?!?!?!

What are the F'n Odds??

I'm shocked!

Right!? I don't believe I've ever heard of such a thing right before the release of new iPhones. I am quite shocked and do believe I have a case of the vapors, someone catch me as I fall

the aluminum back demands the bands or some other permeable window to allow radio reception
I get why they are there. But there must be a better way. Maybe it is time to leave aluminum behind and move on to something else.

It's actually not a cultural practice, but more of a financial tactic called "fomenting." These analysts are the ones spewing out this BS in collaboration with someone in a Wall Street investment firm so they can manipulate the stock market price.

Eh. My reference was to MR describing the prediction of iPhone shortages as a "tradition" (meaning, it has been elevated to the status of a cultural practice). Another example of a weighty term being dropped in where it really doesn't belong, to somewhat comic affect, at least for those who care.

'We don't have enough parts so hurry up and order yours as soon as it comes out'
has moved into second place right behind 'the check is in the mail'
for the most popular big, fat lies nobody is fooled by.
Shabby, obvious touting of iGizmos for the gullible.
Laughable pimping.

Every year it is the SAME EXACT article about supply constraints. But as man have mentioned, I am thinking that the backorders won't last all that long for a number of reasons.

We hear this every year yet there's still more people fall for it. It's just a norm now to do this and good advertising strategy. I think this is how Apple going to sell more iPhone 7 so more people will go visit the store everyday. It's going to be an intentional supply constraints but it works all the time.

No, because my mother told me sold.

100% agreed.

Last year it wasn't an issue either. I decided to get a rose iPhone 6s Plus soon after launch. I thought I was going to have difficulty finding one because because I had difficult finding an iPhone 6 Plus the year before. And especially since rose gold was a new color. But I was able to find what I wanted the first shop I went it and it was fully stocked.

I really love to see Cook up there trying to spin this as a revolutionary product.

Cook: We keep the best of iPhone 6... now the iPhone 7 will look exactly the same... except even thinner!!!

Cook: You can now listen to the music wirelessly, because we took away those annoying headphone jacks

**crowd goes wild**

This is the first year I will not be buying a new phone, so oh well. Not that I think this phone is awful or whatever, the 6S Plus is just plenty fast. I've been running iOS 10 beta since the first beta and performance has been perfect for me. Perhaps next year.

The iPhone 6ss, oh, I mean the iPhone 7 is not going to do well, Apple knows it so they aren't going to make as many, not surprising.

Apple putting impressive new internals in a case that LOOKS the same = Apple is doomed.
That may not make a difference to tech-savvy individuals, but the average customer will take one glance at this and say, "I already have that phone. Guess I'll wait until next year." I do predict record-low sales for this model.

It doesn't demand such an ugly design though.

Plastic. The answer has always been plastic around a metal frame. The phone gets better reception, it gets lighter, it gets cheaper, it gets more durable from a shock absorption perspective. It could easily be a pop off plastic shell that can be replaced for cheap when you want your phone to look like new again.

But it wouldn't look "premium". Yeah and those phones look so premium sitting in their cases for most of their life.
