As everyone has now become accustomed to their iPhone 6(S)'s and 6(S)+'s, and our minds start wondering/wandering of things to come, I'm curious as to what tops others' lists for hardware improvements on the iPhone 7's. I know what I would like, but I'd like to know if others feel the same way.

I'm limiting the options to reasonably doable hardware improvements (no holographic keyboards or OS tweaks).

Please choose 3 & leave details in comments below.

    For me
    • Battery
    • Display quality
    • Improved aesthetics/materials

It's not looking like the 7 will have any of these things, but I'd loved OLED, better water resistance and reduced bezels. That's not in any particular order.

If I had to pick ONE I think it would be lesser bezels; a smaller footprint with the same screen size would be an all around win.

"Samsung-like" back and menu buttons would be great too;)

I would also include, not shown, OIS with the 4.7 and a f/1.7 aperture lens. IOS is rumored though, plus fast camera on without going into the home screen.

If that's the list of new possible features, I'll be holding on to my old iPhone for a while. None of those are "must haves," IMHO. For me, new must-have features are things like Touch ID and Apple Pay.

Those would've been good options. Alas, I ran out of poll choices.

I just pulled those from my recent memory of complaints & suggestions from MRF.

Yeah, not your fault...."must-haves" are subjective to be sure.

    No worries.

Any ideas or suggestions then? Anything feature being thrown around that would make the iPhone 7 a "must have" for you?

    Oled
    Reduced bezels
    Longer battery life

    Pretty self-explanatory...

32gb and a new design will be a show stopper for most people thinking about upgrading.

Even then, I suspect people with the original 6 may still hold out because the 7 is nothing more than a 6ss.

With this being a "6SS," I wonder if Apple will finally drop the numbered naming scheme.

So is there something you want that's not on the list? Or is it a matter of not necessarily knowing what you want until you see it?

You'll have to create 3 different accounts and vote for that choice 3x then. ;)

Get rid of the home button, finally. So clunky and un-Apple, if you think about it.

I think it is and it isn't. It really has been 1 button to rule them all, which is very apple. Apple did 1 hardware button while other manufacturers were doing 4 or more.

Also, at the time of its debut, no one was familiar with the iPhone (obviously) or Apple's products, and Apple generally wants to have intuitive hardware/software (though there are many exceptions which could be mentioned).

Nowadays, however, I think we can all agree that the home button does look a bit dated and out of place. The question is, how to replace it? A screen always detecting/waiting for touch to wake? Using the power button instead? I'm not sure these are steps forward.

For me, it's a 1080p display, camera hardware that matches the S7 (so f/1.7 aperture, bigger pixels/sensor), and a blue color.

That would be enough for me to get over the same inevitable iPhone 6 design (especially the bezels).

Battery, bezels & oled. Battery has to be the one i really want more of. Can really have enough. Not talking abput the standard improvements that come every new number but a much much bigger improvement. Something that leaves the competitors scrambling.

I'm surprised by the lack of external LED interest. That's been a complaint of Android converts for years.

It would help make it better...but not in the top 3-4 wants, I warrant.

A motor which "rights" the phone to land on its back when dropped, and better still four little turbines in each corner which allows the phone to float on your desk to prevent scratching and also slowing impact when dropped.

This would also double up the 7 plus to be used as a hover board. Win. That's proper innovation, Steve would've had it sorted by now.

Battery still has to be ten hours. And thinner. Always thinner.

Hoverboards, thinness request, and "Steve would've..." all in one post.

    +1 internets for you.
