I'd like to say that the reason the resolution is so poor on the 6S plus is because it is so thin...but the Galaxy S7 is really thin and has a Quad HD screen. Maybe Apple feels you don't need it and it's cheaper to produce.
Maybe Apple feels for its customer base it's not a driving force for purchase. I can speak for a few people and they're right if that's their thought.

the same reason about notification led
Yeah cost or profit is definitely the reason.

Dunno I could see it happening as a selling point

If the bump in specs were substantial I could agree, but Apple would make a bigger shift moving from what they currently have to OLED, especially if they plan to do so next year.

Battery size isn't that important at the moment due to the amount of time that the phone lasts on a single charge, however the base storage does stump me, as it would only cost them a very small amount of profit from each purchase, and in return they would have a far higher customer satisfaction level due to people not having to delete holidays photos or other items in order to free up space

People only have to delete because they are dumb.

There are plenty of options like iCloud Photo Library to Flickr to Google Photos that you don't need to delete photos.

Doesn't matter if Apple puts 16GB or 16TB, people are always going to fill up.

If they change to OLED on the upcoming phone, I'll buy it in a heartbeat.. but it's not going to happen. They are putting all their eggs in one basket for next years device.. all the leaks for this year really indicate an "S" type of release device. Nothing really wrong with that, though I already have an "S" so I will hold off till the anniversary edition of the iphone next year.

Well, technically, even if you upload or backup photos somewhere, you still need to delete the photos from the device in order for them to not take up space on the device.

You don't know what "optimize library" does with iCloud?

There is an option like that, but doesn't seem like it would really apply to using Flickr or Google Photos that were brought up as simple options of uploading something to the cloud.

Don't know about Flickr, but Google Photos can delete your local photos after you upload to the cloud too.

So, there just may be a notification LED? Nice thing about notification LEDs is that if you don't like it, you can at least disable it. The consumer has the option. If the iphone7 has one, it makes it more attractive to me.

"At the side of the handset is the new touch sensitive button, which caters a modern design, along with a multi-color LED notification light. The notification lights for the home button, power button, and earpiece can be adjusted in iPhone 7's settings, which can also extend battery life."

I respect opinions, it's just an opinion I don't really understand. Sure, it makes the screen look a tiny bit nicer, but I don't understand the sheer number of people who want to see it happen.

Fast charging however, is extremely useful. You could plug in your phone, have a shower, or run a simple errand, and have your phone charged by the time you've finished, rather than waiting 1-3 hours for your phone to charge. We aren't quite at that point in charging technology, but in a couple of years I bet there will be phones capable of exactly that.

.
There are people on this very forum that state they wake up, leave for work, come home, and their phone is still st 50%.

My point is, different people directly benefit from different things. I can absolutely benefit from fast charging many days, but my wife would benefit far more from a higher res screen on her 6s. She's even forgotten to charge before overnight and just pops it in the car. No sweat.

Apple always sells the current model in the following two years anyways! I don't see any disadvantage in offering a better screen resolution this year and OLED next year! All the screen displays are 1080p and it is a commodity item; so it not going cost that much more to upgrade from 720i to 1080p! They can use the GPU from the iPhone 6+ if they want to be cheapskates and not go with the 6S+ GPU! And they could use the same 2GB RAM too so it would not cost Apple additional $2 more for the 3GB module!

No offense but that article is dirt. It's from 2015 and talks about how the iPhone 7, which is the 6S they are talking about, will have a 20.7mp camera lol. They were just guessing.

No offense taken. It is hard to find anything in a search and I am hoping hard for a more gentle notification lamp.lol. Since the home button is a re-design, i'd hope they could add some lighting under it. I wouldn't think it'd be difficult. Even an "Always On Display" if it is OLED could show notification... like android phones. Oh well, we will see I suppose. Are we placing bets?

A 4K iPhone screen would be a waste and not required.
Wrong answer, unless you enjoy being short-sighted with evolution in technology.

"This begs the question of why you would possibly need a 4K panel on your smartphone. The emergence of virtual reality (VR) is the major driving force. A 1080p or even a 2K screen might be fine for everyday use, but pop that phone into Google Cardboard or a Samsung Gear VR headset, and it becomes quite pixelated, since the resolution is split across two eyes. It’s called the screen door effect. For example, a 1080p screen becomes 960 x 1080 pixels in a VR unit. This might seem like enough, but don’t forget that the display appears much larger in a VR headset, thereby diluting the quality of the image.

Most people who try VR for the first time say how cool it is, but they almost always notice that the picture needs improvement. A 4K screen will play a big part in improving the experience by giving a 1920 x 2160 pixel resolution per eye."

VR might seem a gimmick when it comes to video games since we are still in the early days of it. But watching movies and TV shows could be the next big thing in a couple of years. VR can also even help plan your next vacation or go through some "simulated" experiences. Of course, Apple and their defenders, lack the foresight to imagine any of this. Always years too slow to adopt newer tech. Same ol', same ol'. Mmmkay.

Do people actually believe that Apple are going to up the resolution on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus? it wouldn't make sense when there are strong rumours that Apple will use OLED next year, which will probably add another resolution bump.

Sorry but right answer. It would a waste of battery and cpu power.

Really good VR headsets will have their own built in LCD/OLED screens
