Last quarter they sold 74 millions phones; isnt this an indication they have satisfied customers? According to Jd power iphone customer satisfaction is very high. Sure it would be great to get more ram and flash for the same price but that is not the way Apple rolls.

Apple is still popular and a lot of their new found success is in China. Maybe India is the next big market. China is not an open society and they take measures to do things such as disabling the Apple news app and stuff like that. Cheaper China android phones look good, especially if you can pick one up unlocked for a few hundred bucks. I won't buy a Chinese phone because my vote is !china. lol. (Not China for those who are not developers). Their phones are getting good although not top notch. If we continue to not increase wages in North America, then soon these will look more attractive.
Also, I can put Android on a whole whack of different ARM processors, which makes the Android experience more ubiquitous. Android is creeping in to many places unaware.
Apple is known for being very expensive. The SE which I have was $579 in Canada and does not have 3D Touch and other nice features. I could have had a minimalistic Asian android phone for less than 1/2 the price, some at 1/3 the price.

What is really scary is the majority of sales is to those who already have iPhones. The new user sales is decreasing, 80% of sales are replacements and in a steady decline since 2012.
Personally, I've paid outright for a Z3 Sony, the IPhone SE, I can't imagine spending close to $1000 on any phone, it's just not a priority to me. Cellphone plans in Canada stink too... so you fork over $300 for the iPhone 6s then pay up around $100 a month on a substandard plan compared to other countries... yuck.
If the top apples were slightly cheaper, they would do significantly better.
