This would be a pleasant surprise.

We are with TMO and sometimes experience no service. Having an ultra cheap sim (or even just an ATT or verizon sim in there that is unpaid for 911) would be a neat bonus.

They obviously are NOT including expandable storage because they actively practice planned obsolescence.
Whatever dude. The previous claim is that Apple is stupid. Looking at their profits, they are not.
Luckily for you, you can simply buy Android phones with SD card slot and not give Apple your money. Your choice.

The lack of a dual-SIM version is one of the main reasons many business people are put off the iPhone. Like most people I have a personal mobile and a business mobile. I literally have to carry around 2 mobiles because Apple don't make a dual-SIM iPhone, so this would be brilliant for me and would make me upgrade to the iPhone 7.

You got the point. Right now Apple is having trouble to convince people upgrade their old iPhones, or drag more people from Android world. Dual-SIM and expandable Memory are two ways to help Apple out. Personally I think Dual-SIM will have better chance to be a reality.

No it doesn't. Storage doesn't shrink as time goes on. Each OS even is taking less and less space as time goes on.

So? Are you suggesting that people stop taking pictures once it's full? Do apps not increase in size over the years? Does the OS not add extra bulk with updates? Etc?

They dont offer expandable storage for a reason. You have to have your head buried in the sand if you think they're restricting it and doing you a 'favor'.

While treating this rumour with a pinch of salt, it'd suit me as it would allow me to ditch my crappy Nokia work phone and use my iPhone instead. When on leave or at weekends I could de-activate or apply do no disturb to all work calls.

I dream of this. The godawful Samsung brick phone I have to use at work would be gone in a heartbeat.

If my memory is correct, I think I have heard about this kind of "Dual SIM" rumors since iPhone4s or iPhone5.

Apple SIM + 1 physical SIM tray? Maybe. They already did that in the iPad Pro 9.7".
2 physical SIM trays? Won't believe it 'til I see it.

That said, Dual SIM seems much more likely to me than expandable storage.

Moving one tier up from the lowest storage size costs only about 15% of the phone's price (unsubsidized). Or, to put it in absolute terms, only a 100$. Not really enough to make the difference between a state-of-the-art/high-end phone and an older/mid-tier smartphone elsewhere. Most customers are just going to bite the bullet and pay the difference rather than foregoing the iPhone purchase entirely. I'm sure it's greatly improving Apple's bottom line.

On the other hand, I doubt there are many customers who buy a second phone just because the need a second SIM slot. A second SIM slot might entice buyers being on the fence between choosing an Apple or an Android handset, especially in Asian markets. I wouldn't be surprised if additional sales due to having Dual SIM outnumbered the loss of sales due to users just getting it as a second device.

Might also help to better tie in customers into Apple's ecosystem, if they carried just one (i)phone - rather than having a secondary Android device.

Why not? The whole world besides the US is used to having dual-sim phones. Seems pretty convenient in case you do have multiple carriers (especially one line for one and another personal). Also if you're travelling abroad, you don't have to switch sims back and forth.

Optimize storage and app thinning. If they wanted you to fill up phones, they'd give you neither of those. Also, no the OS doesn't always get bigger with updates. Like I said, recent updates have freed up space.

Personally I'd love this. If I could take my phone abroad on holiday or on business and use either a local SIM, or a pay-as-you-go Three feel-at-home SIM in addition to my normal one, that'd be quite useful.

mobile carriers.

who needs capped mobile data plans? with 4g i can finish my monthly data allowance in 5 minutes at full speed, future is so bright yay.
SIM technology is from the 90s original GSM. Apple reduced its size, but it's still there. The next step is eSIM, where your device is electronically assigned an ID, something that CDMA carriers have been doing since 1999.

It won't be the first time GSM borrows from CDMA

I want a dual sim option, as i have both work and personal phone.
but don't care about physical sims. Even if they are dual software sims, where both radios are active, and can recieve calls, i will be happy.

Although i see that happening more at 7s stage than 7
